I am just sitting here pondering my most recent $8 Hallmark card purchase.

About a year ago, I signed up for the Hallmark Gold Crown Rewards program. I purchase many cards throughout the year, and figured I could benefit greatly from the card.

So far, I haven't.

I was JUST in Hallmark. I had them check my address in the system. It's correct.

I estimate that over the span of a year - with birthdays, Christmas, and other holidays - I have purchased upwards of 15 cards.

Where the heck are my REWARDS?

American Greetings isn't looking so bad. At least they don't make promises they can't keep!

Well I don't think it is a joke - I think there is just something wrong with your name or addy in the system...
Every month or two I get a coupon in the mail for $2-5 off my next purchase... It comes in their Hallmark Brochures / Catalogs - as a tear out from the inside flap. Are you getting those?

My trouble is I usually forget to take it with me and use it :rotfl:

Really? I get upwards of 15-20$ in rewards a year.. of course I buy a whole lot more than $8 worth of cards at a time! :scared: I get free card offers, b1g1 free coupons all the time for cards, wrapping paper during the holidays, free ornaments with purchase of course ;) I've had it since it came out! Its nice getting something back every now and again. :thumbsup2

Nope, not getting those... :headache: Something to look into!

I love my Hallmark rewards card, but then again we don't buy just cards. We do a lot of other purchases there. All of my Jim Shore figures, Precious Moments figures, the kids Hallmark Christmas orniments, plus a lot of the stuff we get for our Purdue and Michigan fans, come from the Hallmark store. If we only bought cards, we would never rack up enough points, as well usually only buy cards at Christmas time.

I really like the Hallmark program, but maybe you should go online and get some info about how many cards/dollars you have to spend to start getting the rewards. It may be that the first level doesn't trigger until you've bought more than you have already.

We have a bonus around here -- one group of three shops that's owned by the same person offers their own program IN ADDITION TO the Hallmark program! You get a separate card, and for every $50 you spend, you get a $5 certificate good on anything in the store, not just Hallmark stuff. I love to combine all these things -- it works out well for me.

Same here. I've been in this loyalty program for years. I typically get about $20 in rewards a year. And usually a few free cards as well.

Don't know if it is all the Hallmark store or just our local ones, but coupons for money off, don't expire. Even though they have an expiration date, two different store managers have told us they will take them any time.

We have gotten some really cute decorations over the years with our coupons. DH knows to start watching in Sept for the spend 30.00 and get this free or for $5.99. I can't remember a time when he bought me or DD a figurine and didn't get something else free or really cheap.

I think the OP should talk to her store manager or lead person.

We buy a card about 10-20 times a year for birthdays and holidays and we buy just cards, not all of the extra stuff they sell. We get about $5 each year plus a lot of buy one-get one coupons and special offers.

I swear you only get them if you don't use it. I signed up once when I was in there buying webkinz. I don't think I have stopped in a hallmark in almost 2 years but I get emails all the time and sometimes coupons in the mail.

Hey - good info - thanks!
I'm gonna ask my Hallmark clerk next time I'm in there :goodvibes
Kinda like BB&B - they take expired coupons to - FYI ;)

I'm with the other posters, I get the coupons regularly too~ definately check into it! They don't take too much off, but it helps.
An aside, I think I'll be buying less cards from Hallmark, oh my, I bought two for Mother's Day, they were nice, not THAT amazing, and I didn't look at the price at the time. I had bought a lot of other things like giftwrap, bows, etc. too. When I got home to write out the cards, they were $6 a piece!!! C-r-a-z-y!! for a card!

I gave up on my Hallmark card a few years ago.....we used to earn points like crazy in Michigan, but never get any points since we moved to Florida. The Hmark stores here a very few and far between and barely sell anything other than the standard Hmark products.

In Michigan, we would buy Department 56 pieces, Disney stuff, etc and get tons of points. None of the stores here sell that stuff. We do buy *some* cards throughout the year, but they are usually those $5 musical ones (nephews LOVE those!). BUT.....the Hmarks here do not consider those to be 'cards' and they don't count as such towards your points.

It has been a couple of years since I've gotten a certificate.

check your account online - I was getting fewer rewards in the mail and went online last month to check what was going on. I noticed I had plenty of points and could "order" a certificate.

ETA: I think this is something new because I was getting certificates at least quarterly up until about the first of this year. Then nothing until last month when I got a measly $3 certificate.I knew this didn't sound right. I went online to check it out (was afraid my mail was stolen - have had similar problems), that is when I realized I had plenty of points and could order a certificate to cover it.

I have also been told they do not expire.

Hallmark is considering a new program which will make the reward redemption and checking your points much easier. I can't talk about the specifics because I got the info through a survey and agreed not to discuss the details.:)

ETA: we are also buying less cards, because of the cost - and also fewer Webkinz. So, our points are adding a little more slowly, but I have not seen a difference beyond that.

:wizard:

I've had my card for almost 10 years and have never gotten any kind of reward/certificate. Because of the whole Webkinz craze, over the past couple of years I've probably spent a minimum of $300 a year at Hallmark.

I didn't realize you could check something online. When I've asked at the store, they just say I'm in the system and that when I've earned enough points I'll get something. I just assumed you had to spend a lot more money than I've spent over the years.
