I have to make a gift basket to be raffled. Does anyone have any good ideas for themes and what you would put in it?

You could do any kind of theme you wanted. The sky is the limit!

What's the price range, that's the most important part?

I guess the price is whatever I want to spend- probably between 25-50. I think they are going to put raffle tickets in cans for the items they want to win. I want mine to have a decent amount of tickets and not be the basket no one wants. :sad1:

Breakfast in Bed - waffle mix, maple syrup, bowl, wisk, one of those small lap trays for bed, tea and honey, scone mixes.

Mothers Spa - anything to do with lotions, bath supplies, towel set, candles, nail polish, face masks, etc.

Movie Basket - DVD's, popcorn, fleece blanket, candy.

Beach Day -- a couple of beach towels, sunglasses, sunscreen, flip flops, $20 gas gift card, some kind of water toy, like a knee board or a couple of those noodles things, inside a beach bag.

Something a little different.

How about a kids craft type of thing?

A few coloring books, washable markers, crayons, colored pencils, a drawing/sketching pad, a color wonder set, any kind of doodling instruments.

What is this raffle for anyway? A kids school thing? A womens club of some sort? Who will be there putting their raffle tickets in your bucket?

Will there be dads there (or men of any age)? If so, I have a great idea for them.

Car Wash Kit. Car soaps, and waxes and polishes and sponges and chamois and tire cleaner and armor all and windex wipes and air freshners inside a bucket instead of a basket.

Around here, at the auctions at kids' places (PTO, Swim Team, etc..), the raffle items that are kid-themed do much better than the ones that are adult themed.

Last year, our PTO raffled off a DSlite and it did very well (at $1 a ticket, it probably made at least as much as it's value). A basket that was filled with tons of different kinds of candy also did pretty well (when the kids were putting in their own raffle tix ;) ).

Swim Team is doing a Lego basket this month at one it's fundraisers and I think that will do very well.

Around here, sometimes 2 or 3 families will chip in together for a basket so the basket has a value of $100 or more.

It will be at an adults only dinner at a country club.

I've seen Gardening Baskets do very well.

Don't forget that you could solicit donations from local stores for your basket. Around here, the local movie theaters, amusement parks, and other entertainment venues are usually happy to donate 2 admission tickets. Even restaurants and stores will often give GC in small amounts.

The last adult only one we went to, best money maker was a wine themed gift basket.

Maybe a wine themed basket? A couple of bottles of nice (cheaper) wine, a wine opener, some wine stoppers, maybe one of those insulated wine cover sleeves.

I also like the idea someone posted previously about the movie night. If you don't want to put DVD's in there, maybe a gift certificate to a local movie rental store? That way they could choose which movie they want and you don't have to worry about someone passing it up because the movie in the basket is one they already have.

You could also do a baby basket, with diapers, wipes, pacifiers, bibs, rattles, socks, etc. That one might be risky, though someone may pounce on it for a quick shower gift.

Wine baskets also do well here. A lot of the organizations will ask the members to bring in a bottle of wine (in addition to other donations) for the wine basket so the wine basket gets to be 10-20 bottles or so. :woohoo:

A scrapbooking basket. (All the rage here.)

A crochet or needlepoint basket. (My mom would be interested in something like that.)

A murder mystery basket - fill the basket with some new murder mysteries. You could do the same for a Romance Novel basket, or Sci-Fi basket.

Game Night -- buy some board games that aren't your typical games. Like Battle of the Sexes, and Know Your Partner, and Loaded Questions.

We go to lots of events with raffled baskets and I've run a few myself.
A lot of the themes that seem to do well have already been mentioned...most kid/family oriented stuff seems to do well and also the wines.
Two other ones that do really well, but can add up and get expensive are gift card baskets with lots of gift cards to all kinds of local places including gas, groceries, stores, food. etc.
and an American Girl theme...a whole class pitched in for this though!
In it was an American Girl Doll, clothes, related DVD and some other AG accessories.
Even though it is at a country club, I would stick to items that are consumables so that more are apt to want to bid. oh...and what about a gift certificate to the country club where it is being held?

Good Luck!

Bedroom Basket.. a soft throw..a pretty picture frame..a candle.. and a book on the kama sutra...and a soft snuggley stuffed animal..this basket looks great in taupes ivorys and golden accents..

Kitchen Basket.. pink skillet, pink potholders.. pink cooking utensils { spatculas ect} and a card that says a donation was made to breast cancer awareness {be sure to make it}

A couple ideas:

A lotto basket with various scratch and win tickets in a coffee mug

A chocolate Lovers basket with some hot chocolate mix, some good high end chocolates, a small serving tray/plate, a maybe a chocolate cook book.

Depending on the age you could always do a tv themed basket. It takes a bit of searching but there are some really cool TV themed products out there. I got DH some Simpsons glasses and beer mugs a few years ago and he loved them. Then there are magnets, playing cards, shot glasses etc.

Candy gift basket with some fun old style candy like pez etc.

There are some great ideas here. I want to make a basket now, even though I have no real reason to do it!

An Italian basket -- pasta, sauce, cheese, cookbook, pasta bowl

A Twilight basket -- all the books and maybe a poster

A DISNEY BASKET!!!!!!!
