Getting DAS at the Park

Since DL hasn’t started this yet but I am going to need to apply while there in two weeks as my DAS will expire on third day of my trip. CM today told me he couldn’t extend it, I would have to reapply when on-site.

Has anyone done this at WDW? Is it the same process? There will be DAS kiosks out in the esplanade where you apply; no longer at City Hall or Guest Services. Do you have these kiosks there in WDW?

What I want to know is WHAT TIME do they open? Before the park I hope. If they are just going to hand you the iPad and you have to wait an hour online…who wants to give up park time to do that?

Is it a faster process than at home?

I appreciate any insight/experience anyone may have had trying to get DAS ON-SITE.

TIA.

There are no kiosks at WDW. If someone needs to apply onsite they are given an Ipad to connect to the same line as when you apply from home.

The new rules don't start till the 18th for DLR, so till then I don't think anyone will be able to answer your question on how it will be handled there.

I had heard there would be kiosks on the esplanade at DLR. But admittedly I've never been there so I'm not entirely sure to what that may refer.

If it's any help -- the reports of folks connecting at WDW parks in the past couple of weeks have been very quick connections, not the hours-long waits of the past. They are using iPads provided by Guest Relations.

I've heard the same about quick connection at WDW parks, but based on what is on the DL website compared to the WDW website, it sounds like DL will have in person registration.

For Disneyland, some people are guessing that one of the ticket kiosks in the Esplanade will be dedicated to DAS registration. I'm not sure what exactly that means though. The Disneyland website had previously said that DAS registration would be available "in the Esplanade between the 2 parks". About a week ago, it changed to this:

"There are 2 ways for Guests to have a conversation with a Cast Member to determine eligibility for DAS: (1) live video chat or (2) on-site at an Accessibility Services window.

Speak with a Cast Member via live video chat to determine eligibility as soon as 30 days in advance of a park visit.
In-person registration is available on day of your visit at the Accessibility Services window.
If DAS is provided after a conversation with a Cast Member to determine eligibility, you (or a parent/guardian) will participate in a registration process. This requires having a photo taken of the DAS-registered Guest.
DAS registration maximum party size is the registered DAS Guest and up to 3 additional party members, for a total of 4 people.
DAS is valid for the length of the ticket or up to 120 days—whichever is shorter. Once the service has elapsed or when a new ticket is required, Guests will need to re-register.
Please note: Guests visit from April 9 through June 17, 2024 will continue to visit Guest Relations locations and DAS is valid for up to 30 days, or when a new ticket is required."

Comparing it with what the WDW website says:
"Live Video Chat
Guests have the option to discuss eligibility virtually with a Cast Member via live video chat as soon as 30 days in advance of a park visit. There is not an on-site option to request DAS registration, but it is possible to request registration on the day of visit."

So Disneyland still has its old ticket booths (which are kiosks, I believe) between the parks. It used to be two long serpentine queues that spit you out into one of 6-10 individual windows and you would go there the morning of first entry and buy tickets. I believe you can still technically purchase tickets there but most people don’t and I’m guessing they are repurposing at least a few of those windows for DAS (as it’s really the only existing space between two parks with any kind of windows).

It wouldn’t surprise me if the lines were pretty long the first few weeks because there’s probably going to be a lot of people arguing with DAS CMs. Unlike the video service, it’s harder to gracefully disconnect and move along in person. Wouldn’t surprise me if you have bloggers (and maybe activists?) hovering nearby— long story short, I would at least consider trying to call from your hotel room before setting out so at least you aren’t standing in the sun in a crowded chaotic scene.

OK, so not the same as DL then. Guess I’ll be the Guinea pig who finds out when I get there!

Thanks, but already knew that. My visit will be on June 22. As I said earlier, the CM who helped me yesterday told me I would have to go to kiosk (AccesibiltyServices) but no one seems to know (and prolly won’t know until June18) what time those kiosks will open. My DAS expires June 21. 😞
I didn't necessarily post it for you. I just noticed it recently on the website and thought I'd add it

I would bet the Accessibility Services Kiosks will have the same hours as the ticket booths.

If I needed to renew in the middle of my trip I would go the kiosks the night before it expires.

They already told me it couldn’t be renewed until the following day🤷‍♀️
I may ask a few Guest Services people on Friday…or I may just wait until my next trip. I will have ridden everything I can still ride for three days at that point…may just spend the day absorbing the ambience.
