Genie+ was $35 pp today

Supply and demand!!!! We are going next week and we are only going to use it once on our trip at HS...... hopefully it comes down in price by then.

They seem to selling at that price. One day last week I read that all the GP+ allocations were sold out..not sure what the price was that day.

It is crazy. That’s why we love DVC..we go offen enough that rides are no longer that much of a priority!!

I believe it sold out 2 or 3 days this earlier this week (at that price) by 10 AM!

It's all a big scam.

1. It's marketed to single visitors not regulars.

2. Charge high enough for an entry ticket and people are forced to buy it so.they don't "waste" all the money they just spent on a ticket.

3. Never solve the major issues that already existed with FP plus which made it useless at times.

4. Not advertise how it actually [doesn't] work so new guests have no idea what they are paying for.

5. Claim sold out genie means people obviously want things like that.

6. They don't like AP and DVC folks anyway so they don't care about our opinions.

But you don't HAVE to have G+. Or don't travel over a holiday period. Learned that l;esson 2 years ago Thanksgiving (Actually, I warned them, but the rest of the group of 10 insisted that is when they wanted to go.)

NOW they say never over a Holiday, again.

But they have also stacked the deck so that it's now challenging to tour without genie as well. Crowds are lower but waits seem consistently longer. Go figure.

We have never bought it and have been pretty successful being able to do what we want…to be fair, we are not all day park people and we are okay if we get some of the top tier rides in vs, all.

But, I know several who do like it and buy it…and feel it makes it less stressful for them and the way the visit…

I too was not a fan of the FP+ system…and I remember a time when stand by was it.

This is us. We rarely used FP or FP+ when they were around and certainly didn't book FP+ 60 days out. Who the heck knows 60 days out what rides they want to ride when? With original FP it was like the running of the bulls with everyone running to the kiosk in the morning to get the best times. No thanks. With FP+ sometimes if we were standing in line I'd look to see what was available for 30 min. from then. If it was something we wanted to ride, I'd book it but never if it was over 30 min. away because we just didn't know what we would want to do any longer than that. We don't buy Genie+ now, I've been twice since it started and my son and his family have been once, none of us bought it. We park hop every trip and have always been able to ride what we wanted by doing that. We, too, have been going since long before FP so we just stood in line.

Buy it or don't...me, I never buy things like that. I'd rather spend $35pp at Sebastian's Bistro :)

I am a DVC member...I'll be back in 6 months. If the line for Pirates or FOP is too high today, I'll ride it 6 months from now. Understand that the once in a lifetime or once in a decade guests feel differently and may want G+. Each to their own.

What were the cons about going over Thanksgiving? Outside of summer break, the two options we have for going that doesn't interfere with our kids schooling is Spring break(which is always the week of or after Easter and Thanksgiving week.

Not a fan of Genie+, we'll buy it for our June trip though. It seems to work out for me because I'm an early riser.
My family on the other hand likes to sleep in, so it doesn't seem to be as good for them unless it's for the real hard to get attractions which we seem to only be able to get later in the day anyways. The extended hours work out great for them, me on the other hand, early morning is great. Hope they are still doing the extended hours in June; I'll go back and take a nap and try to join in.

Crowds were ridiculous, we were rushed through table service meals as restaurants were packed and running behind, Resort dining options were packed, buses were packed, often had to wait for another bus. The other guests at the park were grumpy and rude, making for a horrible experience in shops and queues. Line cutters were everywhere. Add to that the normal flight delays for holiday travel (about 1/2 of us flew and 1/2 of us drove) and the lack of availability of hotels for thiose that drove...all in all just a mess. We had Genie+one of the days, and still only got on 3 attractions that day. Genie+ was new, and glitched out constantly, and the park internet service was overstressed. WE had to wait nearly an hour at guest services to activate AP and Military passes.

Wow, we were at WDW end of March. Prices started at $25 at the start of our trip. They were $29 by end of trip. Crowds definitely increased by the end of our trip. We enjoyed Genie+ for MK and DHS. At Epcot it was a waste, we were only able to book 3 rides.

I like the LL for new rides - I can opt in or out, and it avoids 3-hour lines.

In my opinion, if they are going to charge $35 for Genie + and flex the price with demand, then change a consistent ( flat) base ticket rate.

Many times I am in Epcot for just food and a good walk ( no rides) and I suspect many DVC people do the same.

Given that G+ sold out last week for 4 days, Disney is leaving money on the table. They could probably double the price and still sell out during an holiday week.
Tom Bricker on disneytouristblog.com has written well: if you have spent 10k+ on flights, tickets, hotel, food, are you really not spending $35 or $50 to ensure all the money already spent grants you a good experience? And for an holiday week both crowds and prices are higher, so higher stakes.
Personally, I vote with my wallet and I don't buy G+. Did it once because I was with friends who are not early risers (and have small children) and hated every moment. I won't do it again (and I categorically refuse to buy ILL).

I didn't buy G+ on my last trip, Dec 2021 (wow has it been that long?). I've always been able to choose less busy times but I wanted to experience festival of the holidays. I did buy an ILL for Rise though and was able to get a virtual queu for Remy. I feel for people who can only travel during school breaks. My neice is a teacher and that determines when she can travel. I'm also over the morning to night, every ride in the park phase. I'll probably buy for some days when I go back with my 2 adult kids and dd's significant other in January 2024. But at $35/day. Just because they can charge it, does that mean they should? Where's the sense of fairness to your customers? Hopefully, it won't be as busy in January, but we're all aware that there are really no down times at WDW any more.

I usually get Genie+ for MK but will try not using it in the future due to price and the fact I am gettin an AP. I must admit, I feel like I am very skilled at using it!
