Is this what used to be White Water Snacks? We used to eat there all the time. How is the seating there now? Is it the same as GCH Craftsman bar and do we need reservations or can we just walk up? How is their mobile ordering-reliable, fast?

Their breakfast looks great. I've only been there for dinner (If I'm right that's the same place.)

Thanks!

Craftsman Grill is what used to be White Water Snacks. It is quick service with plenty of seating for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – no reservations. They have items you order at the grill as well as grab and go things. You can either mobile order or go through the line.

Craftsman Bar is table service requiring reservations. It is seating at the outdoor bar by the pool.

All this, but will also note that the menus are mostly the same at both Grill and Bar except Grill has “grab and go” options that Bar does not have and Bar has a much more extensive bar menu (as would be expected, lol).

It's pretty much the same, except white water snacks had these really good carnitas nachos that did not carry over when the name changed. I also noticed fewer grocery items in the fridge -- either I did not notice, or they no longer stock, packs of Kraft cheese and larger (half gallon/gallon) sized milk.

Other than that, general menu, layout, and seating remain the same.

Thank you! We've usually gone there on our arrival night. They always had a nice menu and I like the seating area overlooking the pool. I'll plan on going there and skip making reservations for GCH bar. I'm also toying with the idea of switching one or two of our nights to GCH and it would be nice having breakfast right there.

It has the best food on property in my opinion. I just want to caution you with using mobile ordering there. The normal way for mobile ordering everywhere else is to click "I'm here" when you arrive so that they can make your food. I used mobile ordering twice in Feb and both times, they immediately made the food. One of the times I was standing out front, so it was fine. The other time, it was sitting in a bag waiting for me to pick it up for probably 10minutes. So, if you do mobile ordering there, make sure you are currently walking over.

I haven't eaten inside, but the bar has great food and drinks. You can always get a table/seat there despite it not being very big. The salmon poke has been my favorite.

The grocery stuff can be found in the lobby gift shop now.

They still have nachos, but it's a huge 2 person serving. They are WAY better now than they used to be. Carnitas nachos occasionally appear in DCA at the Studio Catering Co truck.

They are so good. And I feel like they could actually serve three people! They are truly enormous.

Thanks for the tip! I assumed I had to mobile order 30 minutes ahead of time for everything.

Just got back from Grand Californian Hotel, and we had breakfast at Craftsman Grill yesterday and today. The food was really good. We paid for the food and they brought it to our table. Elmer was bussing tables and he was wonderful. I like that you can eat indoors or outdoors.

I also recommend Hearthstone Lounge. We ended up eating there both nights.

The owner if the Disboards, Pete Werner, was there and I think it is telling when Pete enjoys the food experience enough to eat at the same places two days in a row.

Can you still get free coffee in the morning by showing your GCH key card?

Thanks! Sounds great :)

I always forget about Hearthstone Lounge, maybe I'll try that this trip.

The Hearthstone is SO great! It gets crowded, but they can usually seat you within a few minutes. I love that they don't take reservations. They have amazing desserts, particularly the creme brulee, so this place is perfect for a late night snack/drink/dessert.

GCH Craftsman Grill and Hearthstone are two of our favorite places to eat. We were just at Hearthstone on Wed. I love their burger and fries. During the week, both places tend to be pretty quiet, in our experience.

The dessert at Hearthstone was disappointing this week. We got a piece of cheesecake to go and it was absolutely tiny. Like the size of a hockey puck. It did taste good (was citrus flavor) but it was the smallest cheesecake I've ever seen. Definitely not worth the $10 and not what they used to serve.

What is the benefit of a Craftsman Bar reservation vs. just a walk-up order from the Grill?

The seating area is different (and nicer, in my opinion). And you are served rather that ordering at the counter. Bar has a bigger bar menu. They also had live music one Saturday evening we went (not sure if that’s a regular thing or not).

The bar has an a much larger drinks menu and your getting full service with your dining. I would I compare it to going to Geyser Point at wilderness lodge. I had lunch at the bar side yesterday and it was nice to just relax outside in the shade. I ate in the grill about a month ago and the food was the same but for the prices it felt nicer to sit in the bar area.

Hey! Good to know -- I haven't stopped in that gift shop since I paid $8 for a small bottle of Motrin a few years back.

And I did goof, my brother did order nachos there a few months ago, and it was pretty good, and I concur on the size of the portion (great value for the $, if you could believe it). Not sure if I can agree with it being better than the carnitas nachos of old, but it wasn't an apples-to-apples comparison (different protein, I think). I'll have to test the catering truck nachos next visit (if they're on menu).
