Free 1 day water park on arrival

Yes, very useful to know it extends for 3 days. The FB poster I referenced only said she was able to juggle her park days to reschedule her waterpark days and was happy.
That’s good to hear although not everyone will be able to do that now since someone could have date based tickets and the first day starts after the water park day.

It will be interesting to hear if people change their arrival day booking habits- do they book a cheap Disney hotel and then move to the more expensive one? Do they lean into a late arrival and spend the night at the airport or an off-site hotel to secure water park access? I can see that happening when the weather warms up.
Whelp, this is exactly what I just did. Booked a night at POFQ before our GFV rez in March. We'll have beignets for breakfast, check out, and head to a waterpark for the day while waiting for our GFV room to be ready. The kids love the water parks, and we haven't been able to go on the past few visits.

We would certainly use the perk, but are patiently waiting for an opening date for Typhoon Lagoon - definitely prefer to spend our day there than Blizzard Beach.
We are going in late March and it still says the water park open is BB. When we went at this time 2 years ago, they had already switched to TL. Kids love TL and the wave pool. They'll be happy to go to a water park, but a little bummed its not TL.

Our plan is to go to the wdw resort first thing in the morning, check our bags and head to the water park! Looks to work out well!
This is our plan too.
We arrive Sat at 10pm -sleep at the Hyatt Mco
Sun- drive to BC and check in/ head to water park at opening
This will be fun! I'm glad Disney has added this perk. I'm also hoping that it will free up the pool loungers a little as some like to spend the day at the pool on arrival or check out. We definitely do!

We arrived January 9 after BB would have normally closed anyway, but it was closed all day due to cold temps. I didn't even look for passes in the app that night, but on January 10, we had passes available for January 10 and we had recovery passes valid January 10-12, and we had one adult listed for mini golf.
I was unsure where the mini golf came from because I booked "room only" and I didn't understand if that meant I would have to play alone because it was only my name even though there was another adult and child in the room with me, so we ignored that pass.
We did go to BB on January 10. If I had had time to go to BB multiple days I would have tried harder to make sure when I scanned in, it used the ticket valid on January 10 and saved the recovery pass for later, but I knew that was our only chance so I didn't care or check about which pass was used.
We had fun. I'm glad we went, but I regret not taking uber back to the resort after. Too much wasted time transferring at AK.

It appears (not yet confirmed by 3 sources) that Blizzard Beach will be closed on January 20-22 (Monday - Wednesday) due to low temperatures.

The Mouse just might know what he’s doing with this promo…
100 percent agree. we always book an early direct flight if we can get it, but we were not planning on spending money at a water park on arrival day. We have usually had the WPFM on our tix, but this trip is short so we were actually considering waterparking at a competitor.

this perk totally changed our plans for our arrival day and rather than dining off property we will spending all of our money on Disney property....just going there straight from the airport.

I cannot believe the number of people who refuse to use the perk. Like you can just stay on the beach and chill....

Depending in when you're going and the time you arrive to the water park, there may not be too many places left to "chill". We had waterparks included as part of our tickets last year. We got to TL at about 10:30am on a weekday during September (it opened at 10am). The only places left to sit were on those tiny small chairs that are packed next to each other, no room in between you and the person next to you. And off to the side of the wave pool. It was not a place to chill. It was more like people soup. We did a few laps on the lazy river and left. I won't go this year, even for free. If I'm going to "chill" it's going to be at my resort quiet pool. So when my room is ready, I am right there.

This doesn't sound good. If we go this year, it will most likely be our last trip to Disney water parks. With only having one open at a time, it sounds like it could be miserably crowded at the end of August. Sad.

Aaaand with that I will be there at opening minute armed with a plan for my Sept trip. (Unless a hurricane says otherwise because Sept in FL 😆)

Does BB have the long beach chairs set up in a sunny place away from the pools if you want to just chill in the sun.

Definitely get there as early as you can! I was really wrong thinking it wouldn't be busy. There were only 6 of us on the bus in total from DS to TL, so I thought it would be really quiet. Nope. I have a split stay between the WL and Poly in September again, I'll hang out at the resort pool or Geyser Point! And lets hope no hurricanes, we had one last year, thought it wasn't bad at all. Fortunately.

And BB keeps closing due to lower temperatures. BB will be closed on January 23 - 24 (Thursday - Friday) due to low temperatures.
