Is formal night the first full day? Or first sea day? I’ve only been on cruises where the first day was a sea day do that was formal night. I just booked a 7 night where day one was a port and day 2 was a sea day. So would formal night be day 2 then?

Thanks

In my experience on a 7-night formal night is usually the second evening of the cruise, regardless of if it's a port or sea day. That said, I've seen others experience something different and on our 9 and 10 night cruises, all bets are off. But second night is usually a good bet.

Usually it is the 1st sea day. But the cruise director can pick any day they want.
that’s what I’m hoping for. First day is at lookout point. Wouldn’t be the same to have formal night after being there all day.

Should be first sea day. Our 2023 Norway cruise had Rotterdam on the 1st full day, sea day the next day. Formal night was on the sea day.

Traditionally you never dress formal the first night. It's because many may not have all their luggage delivered to the room yet. This was especially true when people traveled with large trunks.
