I have a 2003 Honda Odyssey. there will be 3 adults and 4 children in our van. so because of this i am trying not to put to much where everyone will be sitting. we will already have a big cooler by the middle section seats. i am renting a pack n play and another double stroller. so to save up on space and try and fit everything else in my trunk, i am thinking of putting the double stroller we have on top of our car and tie it down. i am sure we will hit rain somewhere (driving from kansas to iowa then to florida.) and i dont want my stroller to get soaking wet. i was thinking of get this bag here http://www.walmart.com/ip/SportRack-Sherpa-13-Roof-Bag-Cargo-Carrier/15611260 but i dont know if my double stroller will fit in it. i have a sit n stand. the one with 2 seats. so its pretty big. im up for any ideas! we leave next month!! so i need to hurry lol!! TIA!

On our last trip we used one of those things you put on top of your car for luggage. We also have a van, and a double sit and stand ~ and tons of "stuff" that 3 young children need. We were really lucky that we were able to borrow one from a friend, but I think even if we needed to we would have bought one ~ and still might. Even when we are done using strollers, I think we will need it for all of our stuff ~ the van just doesn't have much trunk space!

Yep, we use a roof top luggage box. It can be a little difficult to get our Bob Dualie up there, but it is literally the only way to travel with it!

We drive a 2008 Honda Odyssey and use the Cross Country Car Top Carrier from http://www.roofbag.com/. We have had it for 3 years and it has been used in heavy rain, snow, sleet and just about everything else you can think of without anything ever getting wet. We went with the larger of the 2 sizes and have never run out of space.

thank you all!! so much help! :goodvibes thank you thank you thank you!! when we went traveling with my husband we have a ponitic montona and omg! my kids were so uncomfortable with all the things we had to bring.

Could you eliminate the second double stroller and pack and play and just use one double stroller (rent it) and use the one pack and play in the room? If you slow your pace a little in the parks, your two older kids might not even need a stroller. Or you could rent one if you really need it in the parks.

That is about the ONLY feature I like on our Chrysler van (van sucks, don't get me started), is the stow in go seating. I can cram (err pack) a lot in that tiny space where the seats would fold down into.

But on that aspect, really, unless you are going to use them on the road trip, I would consider just renting a double stroller or two while in Disney. there is current a place offering free rental (just have to pay the $6/day insurance fee)...You rent one and your hubby rents one....how much hastle will you save for $12/day (not only that but the added weight and wind drag from the stuff on stop).

Also, considering just using the Disney provided pack n play. If you really just have your own..considering looking at a cheap one down at Disney...or getting one of those cheap blow up/inflatable toddler sized mattresses that come inside a sleeping bag (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Disney-Cars-EZ-Bed/8812034).

With those 3 things gone..cooler can go in the rear/trunk if needed....and you can fit all your luggage w/o much problems.

I guess I didn't make myself clear. Since the stroller takes up so much room in the car, just leave it at home and only rent one stroller from the offsite company. You will already have a pack and play in the room, so do you really need two of them? Then just use the one stroller that you rent for the littlest ones and rent one in the parks if you really need another. Your older kids might be able to walk instead of ride.

Plus if you are using the bus to the parks, you will have to remove the kids from the strollers and fold them up to ride the buses. It might be easier not to have two strollers on the buses.

Just offering a suggestion to make it easier.

We just bought one of these for our upcoming trip. We got it on Craigslist for a good deal ($65) and it is in good condition. If we decide later we don't have space for it, we can always sell it again probably for the same price. You can also rent them!.

I wouldn't get the cloth ones because they are not very aerodynamic and get weathered easier (therefore you won't be able to re-sell it easily). It will decrease your miles per gallon, which hurts now that the gas is so high!
