Well, my question is, if I packed it in its own bag, could it be declared a medical supply/equipment as it is for SPD? Not sure if it would be questioned, I plan on taking it on the plane (since it is an early morning flight and I want her to try to sleep.)

what about her weighted lap pad? (both of these items are 5lbs or less each. so not even 10 lbs together.) :confused3

Those would both be considered medical equipment from my understanding.

I don't think anyone will even question it. I have seen kids get on flights with pillows and blankets before, so your DD's weighted items would kind of blend in with those.

One suggestion though - even though they may not feel heavy, I would suggest a bag with wheels for carrying them. My DD's old communication device weighs about 4 pounds and the one we currently travel with is an iPod in a speaker case that weighs just short of 1 pound. By the end of the day, they feel like they weigh 100 pounds.

We have flown with weighted blanket, only once did we have an issue.Foster son had been eating salomi before flight and a food alert dog from customs alerted on his blanket.A careful look and finding out what he had eaten before the flight and it was all clear.Turned out salomi was on the not allowed to bring into the USA list.
