First Time Budget Fastbreak User - How does this really work?

Set me straight, please! I have recently become a Budget Fastbreak member, assuming that meant I could skip the counter in the terminal and go direct to the parking garage where my rental will be waiting for me. Shame on me for assuming. Anyway, I've done some Googling, and it seems like I still need to go to the actual Budget counter despite the fact that I signed up for Fastbreak. Is that correct? I want the pickup process to smoothly, I don't typically rent cars... So I can't just go to the garage?

Thanks for providing any guidance as it isn't quite clear based on my research.

The first time I did a FastBreak rental I was instructed to go to the counter (if there is a FastBreak line use it) to verify my identity. I think they will tell you that somewhere in your rental instructions. On subsequent rentals at most airports you will go straight to the garage and either pick up your contact at the desk in the garage or go to the car if they text you the info. Be aware though that COVID has closed Budget desks at some airports and you may be directed to the Avis desk and use their Preferred desk if it is open.

i am a Fastbreak member and have done the “direct to garage” in MCO. Recently did an Avis rental, joined Avis preferred but also had to stop to “verify”. The terminal counter was quiet but the agent directed me to the garage. The preferred desk person there took care of it quickly and handed me my contract. What they really want is a swipe of your connected credit card . The agent told me as well it was a one time thing. Good luck! We have done fine with Budget in MCO.

Yep, first time users have to go to the counter.

The second time I’ve used it, I had to ask where the cars were parked (parked on the Avis side, Budget side empty). My name was on the windshield, we loaded up and breezed through the checkpoint.
