Fantasy sailings being cancelled due to dry dock

Just read the Fantasy was scheduled to go into Dry Dock on Sept 29th. Article said it was “unusual” for the date shift to cancel SO many cruises.

If it’s scheduled for that much later, maybe they will schedule some more European cruises in that time frame?

We were booked on both cruises that were cancelled, the WBTA B2B with the Bahamas cruise. The vibes in the house now are very sad since we had already been making travel plans (I booked flights just last week!).
We were booked on both also, and already booked flights.

The Fantasy was scheduled for a dry dock.

It seems perhaps the shipyard had to shift some things around, so the drydock dates changed (that's my speculation, nothing official).
I am thinking that this is what happened also. I find it hard to believe that DCL decided to make this change because it suited them. I was on that WBTA, and was surprised when I read about the two European sailings being added. . I am disappointed, but looking forward to seeing what the revised WBTA will look like. Hoping that since it will sail later that it may be a Very Merry Christmas Time Cruise.

I don’t think they will ship the Christmas
Decor and crew over there, they will wait until she gets back to Canaveral…

The itinerary was disappointing, at best. So here’s hoping the revision is an improvement.

HOW are we supposed to buy a new Placeholder?

Interested in hearing if those who already bought flights were able to get a credit for future travel? I had to cancel an Icelandair ticket this year. Lost $1500. Will never book with them again.

Must be either the shipyard, either the contractrors... I loved having my bday and Halloween last year in the WBTA and that was supposed to happen again. This years itinerary sucked so I'm hoping less or better on european side and some private island time and a more decent rate cause the original rate was ridiculous for a TA...

We booked our flights with Virgin Atlantic. When I called them, they are allowing changes to the flights. I wasn't that crazy over the itinerary for the WBTA either and unsure whether we will book the revised itinerary. It depends on the dates and pricing. I am looking at the Spain/France itinerary departing on Sept 22 as a possibility.

Just fyi if you booked with a placeholder. Shoreside Services called and left an email this morning to get it replaced, offering either to transfer funds from the previous one or make a new payment. Happy to have my placeholder back, especially since mine was originally set to expire during our cruise but this one is good for 2 years from today!

Were you concierge?
Glad it worked out for you. :)
My daughter is an admin in the B2B group and we were looking forward to meeting you during the B2B process.

We're still waiting to hear back from our DU TA about our placeholder.

I'm in the FB group, too! Is your daughter an admin (just guessing based on your username)? It seemed like a good group and I'm sad I won't get to sail with you all, since the new WBTA dates likely won't work for my schedule this year.

We were not concierge, but had a family verandah that was booked directly through DCL.

That's great that shoreside is reaching out, and extending the placeholders.
Yes, she was an admin for the first time, and was enjoying the nice little group.
Sorry the new WBTA won't work for you. Still figuring out if it will for us - frustrating to not have dates. Sad that we lost the B2B, it would have been our 1st. If we do the new WBTA, adding on a B2B definitely won't work for us.

Did they offer anything relating to airfare...? The one time we had a cruise cancelled they covered losses there for us. It was on a MUCH tighter timeline though!

No. Only if purchased through them.
We already have our International flight book, and it can be changed, but if we don't end up doing the new WBTA we'll have a hard time using all of the flight credit on domestic flights since we don't fly often.

Sorry you had such a short notice cancellation. It was nice that they covered losses, I'm really surprised they did.

Our DU TA said our placeholder reinstatement doesn't have an extended date, which is disappointing. The letter she forwarded to me shows that shoreside reached out to her today (my emails with her yesterday gave me the impression that she was contacting DCL yesterday, so I'm not sure if she actually did or not). The letter doesn't actually give an expiration date, but the TA told me it's the original date. I've asked her to please try to have the expiration date extended.
