Ever been HUNGOVER in Disney World??? Have fun with this one!!!

A few years ago DH and I went to WDW for an overnight stay (we live in Tampa). I don't remember what we did the night before but I do remember having to check out of the resort and take a little nappy-poo in the car in a remote part of Downtown Disney's parking lot before driving home. Fortunately this was before they had the large cherry-picker things that they have parked there now.

As a recent college grad, I know all the tricks of the trade to prevent and/or cure a hangover. Take vitamin B vitamins before and after you drink. Obviously stay hydrated. But one thing that's like a MIRACLE hangover cure is COCONUT WATER. They sell it in like individual juice box things at most grocery stores. I swear that stuff is a godsend.

Woke up still drunk... Soarin' was a whole new experience.

Mission: Space made me vomit for the first and only time.

When I was 21 I was a Cast Member through the college program so yes! Sticking a thousand college kids together in one apartment complex and/or letting CMs in for free on Thursdays at Pleasure Island (this was in 1999) makes me wonder if Disney wanted us hungover!

As for vacations also a yes. Even though DH and I are drinkers we are usually to worn out by the end of the night to do any real damage, but on our first trip together we "drank around the World" one night. We both agreed that the beginning of our end was the Sake in Japan. Neither of us has ever touched Sake since. And I thought the day was over for him when we started our next morning on Expedition Everest.

ETA: I have been told that Airborn (the stuff they tell you to take to not pick up germs on flights) is great for hangovers.

My DD, SIL, and I finally made it through the entire "world tour" two years ago. We rode soarin afterwards, needless to say it was an eventful ride. Two days later I rode soarin again and was hanging on for dear life wondering how I did not fall out of this ride the previous time.

Yes quite hung over and thank goodness for pain killers and LOTS of water!

Hmmm...where have I contracted a hangover from?

Pleasure Island (at least 30 times!)
Mizners Lounge
Tambu Lounge
Barefoot Pool Bar
T-Rex Cafe
Germany
Banana Cabana
Team Spirits Pool Bar
The Outer Rim
River Roost

I may be forgetting somewhere!

I guess I should have said, "Were have I NOT contracted a hangover from?"

Oh yes. In 2008, 4 months before I found out that I was expecting DD, my best friend and I planned a long weekend trip to WDW. My flight was delayed nearly 5 hours which threw our usual gig of going to MK on arrival night out the window. We decided on dinner at DTD instead.

Dinner turned into drinks. Drinks turned into going to Pleasure Island. "We'll be back early!" turned into stumbling into our room at 2:30am. Epcot was scheduled for the next day and we DID get up on time, 8am. However, we were both feeling a little .

Advil, water, breakfast - thought we were good. No, not so much. We wandered Epcot for a bit then decided that Mission Space: Green was a good idea. NO. I was spinning by the time we stepped off, as was she. By that point it was also pouring rain and by 1pm we were both snuggled in our respective beds at the resort.

Those Rum Runners will get you every time!

Yes, indeed.

It was on September 12, 2001.

Yes- me and my friends were at WDW on 9-11. Very, very surreal time that was. I had actually been out to Disney-MGM Studios (as it was called then) and was coming back to the room when I heard about it. The bus ride back was madness, as they had locked down the parks and EVERYONE was being ferried to a safe location. You could feel the confusion and fear in the air.

Anyway, the next day we all went to Epcot and did the Round-the-World drinking marathon. At the time I think we all were just trying to release nervous energy from the previous days events.

Regardless, not only did I get drunk I over-drank, and had to go to the hospital on Disney grounds to get my stomach pumped. It's a nice hospital they have, by the way, although I don't recommend it as a ride. The price to get in is high!

So I think you could possibly say that qualifies as being hung over. ;)

I know...it's a silly question. But today I was thinking about my last trip and I remember thinking that it was impossible to get hungover in the World. Well, I was wrong. The fairy dust didn't take care of me after one night of touring the World Showcase...I swear it was the plum wine from Japan that truly did me in. Or maybe it was one of the three glasses of wine? Or maybe the margarita? Oh, it's all making sense to me, now!

Anyways, when I woke up the next morning at 7am ready to get to AK early...let's just say it didn't go as planned. :sick:After two advil, a bottle of water, some juice, and a 30 min nap, my husband and I finally made it to AK... AT 10:30!!! oops

So...anyone else have a "whoops" story from the World?
Where were you drinking? :cool1:
What were you drinking? (so the rest of us will avoid it!...):woohoo:
Did you miss anything the next day?? :guilty:

Any tips on how to help it? (other than stay sober...but that's no fun on vaca!)

Hope this thread becomes full of fun stories!!!!!

in june 2005 my sister and i took our daughters (8th and 10th graders at the time) on a girls only trip. it was, of course, HOT and humid (duh) and we (adults only) were drinking margaritas. my sister rarely drinks tequila and with the heat i guess we were just dehydrated enough that after only 3 drinks we were feeling it pretty good. we decided to ride mission space (this was before the green and orange split) and rode it...we all felt icky from the ride so when we got off my sister sat down while we played games AND SHE LITERALLY PASSED OUT. flipping hysterical seeing her with her stupid fanny pack passed out at disney. :scared1:

my now 22 y/o daughter and i went to two days of f&w this year and of course ate and drank as expected. she ended up hung over on day two so i will say you may end up with a hangover if you drink 2 dragonberry coladas, a mai tai, a Caipirinha, a tequila flight (5 little margaritas 5oz each) as well as a full avacado margarita from la cava, and a singapore sling. the moral of the story is that mixing can be bad but i guess it's a lesson we all learn in our youth.

My friends and I do an annual drinking around the world at Epcot during F&W. If you end the day on Singapore Sling; you doomed to have a bad hangover! I had a friend that spent the entire night up running to the bathroom every 5-10 minutes. Nor does she remember our walk back to the Yatch Club after Illumintations

I love how everyone has specific dates to go along with their WDW hangovers! :)

I always get too sleepy to drink enough to cause a hangover. We've tried drinking around the world on two different trips, after two or three countries (we split the drinks usually) we get ADD and forget what we were doing in the first place... or start to get too tired and sit on a bench for an hour or two :)

I've heard rumors that there is an "official" Drinking Around the World PDF. somewhere, to be printed out as a checklist. Anyone know the link?

I don't know if it's "official", but I did find the following link, complete with printable scorecards!

I haven't been drinking at WDW yet as I've only been once, with my kids. But next May I'm hoping to visit with my best friend and her mom and will be taking the scorecards for sure!

OMG, this was one thing DH and I still laugh about:laughing:our first trip, DS probably 11 and DD 9, full of energy and ready to do everything and anything...DH has the huge mug of beer at Biergarten and I have the wine flight...oooohhhhh, Florida heat and sun are not the same as Illinois heat and sun...we leave lunch and about 2 countries later say, oh no...what did we do to ourselves:scared1:We both sucked it up and made it through the day, but NEVER did anything so stupid again. :sad2:

Not exactly hungover... But drunk enough to be ejected from the park for the remainder of the day! I made the mistake of planning my annual Epcot Pub Crawl on a weekend during the Food & Wine expo... I had an unexpected windfall the previous week, so I was stacked. I had made the decision in the parking lot that I was going to get tipsy. Made it to the World Showcase and made a right, and things got hazy from there... Somehow we got our drinks free at the Rose & Crown (LOVE the Boddingtons!) but I am sure my cohort would have been able to explain that one better than I could. Drank champagne slushies in France, saki in Japan, Jager in Germany... My last clear(ish) memory was the Biergarten tent outside of Germany, and then the next thing I know I am being escorted out of Epcot by a Disney Security officer! I will NEVER pubcrawl during Food & Wine, way too many options...
