Just a little off here. Disney is not cheap, but overall, no. You do not pay per person for a hotel room at Disney. You can pay $1300 a night, but you can also pay $135.

I asked the OP for clarification on that nonsensical line item and received none. I guess they can't defend their nonsense.

And this is why Disney is only going to be available to the elites in the future. I am kind of glad I gave DVC to pad those hotels costs and also I can get military salute tickets which are a screaming deal. However I am planning for a WDW trip as we usually go to Aulani since it is our home resort and I realize how astronomically more I am spending than going to Hawaii!? Is that not crazy?
Disney world is expensive, but nothing about OP's post was close to being accurate or realistic. My guess is they know that.

We did a 2 week trip 5 days at Disney, 4 days at beach and 5 days at universal. Family of 4. Total cost was just under $20k. Kept track of expenses but was not trying to save.

Rented a tesla through Turk- $400/week

Disney- Animal kingdom lodge deluxe standard view $1500 (rented DVC points). 4 day hopper park tickets. We did rope drop to extend hours every day and one rest day. ADRs Cinderella’s castle, space 220, and Storybook dining annd Sanna. Every other meal was in our room or packed with us or took the car for cheaper food.

Beach- Cocoa beach. Ate out played at beac. Relaxed

Dropped car as I did not want to pay for parking.

Universal- 5 day park hopper tickets. 1 night at a deluxe (I forgot what one) so we could get fast passes for two days. The other 4 nights at cabana bay. Ate breakfast in room. Ate out most every day.

Wonderful trip

Someone else had asked ahead of you and OP's response was:
The most expensive I have seen is the Star Wars hotel in the ballpark of $5,000.00 to $6,000.00 or more for two nights. Staying off site definitely can save tons of money (some off property hotels have an agreement with Disney World to offer some of the same perks or benefits to their guests and their room rates may be a less expensive.).

As for souvenirs, you save money buying them off property tor anyone who wants to buy a couple of them. There are many stores around the Orlando or many places online that may sell the exact same thing for even half the price you pay if buying them in the parks. To be honest, based on my experience, anything and any food you buy in a theme park (Disney or not and even in a movie theater) is going to be the most expensive and overpriced. One of my favorite if you have an RV, travel trailer, etc, is to camp. You would have a fully equipped kitchen and can cook your own food, plus saves you more vs flying and dining out, and you can bring the family dog or cat alone too. The biggest expense out of that would be gasoline or diesel costs while driving or towing the RV there and back.
Sooo, a "hotel" that isn't actually a hotel and includes meals/ tickets, followed by "advice" including saving money by buying souvenirs offsite, staying offsite, and camping with your fully equipped kitchen in an RV.

Yes, I saw that response and did not understand it at all. Was hoping for clarity, but this thread is not the place for that. 🙃

**ETA- just reading all the responses and didn't realize this was a troll post, should have figured.

Sure that is definitely one take but definitely your proposed costs are on the way more spendy side. We've done a week at disney for a family of 4 (kids that are disney adults and our food cost was no where in the vicinity of $3000. And we've done this recently, not back in 1985. I suppose if you're doing character meals on the daily and eating 3 sit down meals/day, then sure, you can yolo all you want but we're around $125-$200/day and would say we average around $900-$1200 for a 5 nt stay.

And tickets, 5 park days over spring break or other peak times, it's about $2600 rn, not $3200 for non hoppers and that's for 4 disney aged adults, it would be less if kids are under 9. Lodging of course can be as little or as high as you want but to date, we've never spent that so again, a variable expense. And we don't fly in so of course that adds an additional expense we don't incur which includes ground transport. But I think if you kept $2600 for airfare and $250 for misc travel like uber, etc., didn't eat table service for 3 meals/day and stayed at somewhere around $250-$300/nt, your WDW trip is probably more around $7k-$8k depending on your variable expenses. I think $18K might be a little inflated. I will say that WDW is not a cheap vacation but in a lot of ways, you can say that about traveling most places. We've always found ways to be more budget friendly when needed and have spent more when we wanted but to say a 5 night trip to disney for a family of 4 flying in is $18K is just not accurate. And if you or someone you know spent that, it was probably a great trip. :)
