enjoying the Boardwalk

Do you have an aversion to using the Skyliner?

You could drive to Disney Springs and park, grab a bus to BW :drive:
The LAST thing you want to do is take a bus from DS to BW. We did that a couple of times and it was, by far, the worst! Each time, they would cram you in and then stop at each of the Epcot resorts and BW is last. To make matters worse when we stopped at BC and YC, they just didn't drop off guests, they also loaded guests going to DS so that they did not have to go around again  That was so idiotic.

It’s a bus. That’s how bus routes everywhere operate. Any public bus system. Any Disney bus that makes multiple stops, whether it’s in 1 resort like POR or multiple resorts, like Poly & GF or the Epcot resorts. We’ve been going to WDW for over 30 years, 1st staying at POR, then Y & B. And back then, Swan & Dolphin were on the loop too. It’s how bus routes operate.

Unclear why you don’t use the skyliner if staying at Pop? Save the Uber money and just use the very convenient skyliner. It’s a very short, enjoyable walk.

100%

If you want to reduce walking:

Skyliner from Pop to Epcot. Boat from Epcot to BW.

The boat is literally right when you get off the skyliner and the first stop for the Boat is BWV.

Simple.

I used Lyft several times this past trip when I didn't want to have to transfer on Disney transportation. It worked great and I was only paying $6-$7 per ride plus tip.

10 minutes vs 'allowing 90 minutes' for Disney transportation and you are not guaranteed a seat.

The only time rideshare is problematic is when things are closing because thousands of people are doing the same thing at once.

Our biggest problem with the bus from DS to BW was it seemed to take forever for a bus to arrive. We would see multiple buses for other resorts come and go and we were still waiting for the first one to arrive.

First; This isn't a "public bus'! and you're not paying $600+ a night for a public bus. Not even close to being the same. I have also been going to WDW a long time, all you have to do is look at my signature. If the bus had space I agree, but this bus was packed.

Poster is correct. That's how all the bus routes work.

AK picks up to head back to AKL, stops at Kidani to drop off and pick up, then to Jambo to drop off and pick up, then back to AK. So staying at Jambo, we watched people get off and get on at Kidani before being dropped off at Jambo.

I also can't stand the bus back from DS to BWV, with all the extra stopping. I think because I know DS is so close, and would maybe be a 15 min drive, but we're waiting on and riding that bus sometimes 40 mins or more. Drives me bonkers. But I know also that's common for the Epcot resorts to share buses, like from AK , etc. I expect it, but don't like it.

and to the original questions, absolutely you can experience what Boardwalk has to offer--by using Disney transportation to get there.
We do this ALL the time. We visit lots of other resorts on our trips, and take the bus, boat, monorail, skyliner, walk etc.
I absolutely agree that parking should be limited to guests staying there, and I guess for ADRs. We've been staying at BWV often since that became our home resort in 2011. We always drive, and yes, before they became more strict there were times when there were a handful of parking spots in the parking lot. One trip, on our arrival, there were 3 spots in the entire lot, no exaggerations, and they were all in BFE, and we had stuff to unload, trek back to check in. (stuff we didn't want to leave w bell services.) We haven't had issues like that since they started turning people away. So I hope they keep it like that, OR set it up like Universal, you can park at the hotel and pay what it would cost to park at the parks, (or a little more) OR bring your restaurant receipt and get it validated for parking.
I very much appreciate parking being limited.

Looking at your signature, you’ve stayed at several resorts that have shared buses. Have you ever seen even 1 that went around & let off passengers, then went back around to pick other passengers up?? Ever had that happen at POR? CBR? Poly& GF? That’s not how Disney transportation operates, even if you’re paying $600 a night. I can imagine the posts complaining about having to wait at the bus stop while a bus made a full round dropping off, then has to come back to make another round to pick up. Then we’d be reading we’re paying $600/ night & the driver refused to let us get on.

My son and I will be at Disney May 10-20...My husband is taking a break from Disney plus he is babysitting our old adopted blind dog. So this trip is for me, I guess, I will be 62 PLUS retired!!!!! I read where the Boardwalk is undergoing more refurbishment in the merchandise locations. I also read the Yacht Club removes mention of room refurbishment. We originally were going to stay at the Yacht ..I personally like the Yacht better because of all the memories of our family trips!!! So we switched to the Boardwalk because of the refurbishment at the Yacht. My son does not remember staying at the Boardwalk because at the time he was in a stroller is 29 now. I do like the night life on the Boardwalk the magic shows the jugglers ect.. And I have no problem staying there because it is such a grand resort...but Iam sooooo tired of all the refurbishments!!!! We have been to Disney many many many years and I dont remember so many closures...please Iam not complaining because I know we are fortunate to have gone so many years... OK FINALLY Iam done.. ...Please tell me the Boardwalk we be fine ...Its just a few stores so get over it!!! Thanks Marla

Yacht/Beach pool is also scheduled for a refurb through May, so pick your poison I guess? 😀

It's probably just the inside of the store, different sections at a time. Unless you spend all your time in the gift shop, you probably won't notice. Maybe a planter barricade around parts of outside.

Thank you for your response… I forgot to mention I am aware of the closure of the pool… unfortunately, our younger son is not interested in swimming… and as far as the shops go I guess I don’t go to Disney to shop… I’m just tired of the closures and the construction… But I guess that’s progress!!!😊 Thanks again Marla

There is a thread here specific to BWI, if you ask there you can likely get updated info on if/how intrusive the remodeling actually is.

I'm staying at AK, driving to BWI with an ADR next week. I then want hang out at Jellyrolls for a while. They aren't going to squawk about me staying for 3+ hours are they? In other words, do they say "you've got 2 hours, buddy"?
