Hello all.

We are current DVC resale owners, looking to add direct points. We looked into it earlier this year while on property but decided not to since we had recently already bought our resale contract. Anyway now hoping to add direct early 2025. I recall they were willing to offer a decent discount if we were to purchase while on property. Do they still offer this promotion? I'm thinking about booking a night in January to see a guide and possibly get this discount if it makes financial sense. We are looking to add 150 points.

Thank you!

The rates are the rates. My understanding is (legally) there’s no additional discounts they can provide beyond the discounts they have in the chart.

The promotions are based on whatever is currently being offered

There was a welcome home incentive they had been giving to buyers but I don’t think that still is.

So, it really will depend on what is happening when you go to buy.

Direct incentives are stackable (there are usually several available at any time). The common incentive related to this area is ‘Welcome Home’ which is usually attached to a future WDW trip on the books (regardless if cash or personal/rented points). In recent years there has been no incentive specifically for booking while on property - so that is not necessary. It’s the future trip that matters, not booking while on that trip.

One other incentive is Disney Cruiseline… and that can be tied to booking while on the ship or within days.

Interesting. Maybe that's what the guide meant while we were staying on our last trip. The "Welcome Home" incentive. He certainly offered us a discount which expired once our vacation was over (we stayed during Memorial Day week this year). I wish I still had the flyer he gave us. We have another trip already booked, so hopefully the Welcome Home incentive comes back in January. Thank you!

Yep that’s probably what happened. The guide was able to give you credit for that stay to qualify for Welcome Home.

But now that the chance has expired, any new booking should open that incentive back up to you. It’s the booking that qualifies, not physically being on property.

There’s different incentives that DVC runs from time to time. Last year when we purchased there were 4 incentives available to us (and even a few more that could’ve stacked on top but we did not qualify, like Cruise, Cast Member and Military). Altogether the 4 incentives we were able to use brought the price down 25%.

Full price without any discount was $33k for 150pts VGF and we paid $25k including closing. Those 4 incentives were Developer $ Discount for existing members $2,500 (we were previously resale), Developer 5 Free points $1,085, Welcome home $1,500, and Magic Beginnings $3,300. Altogether we saved over $8k from listed price of active resort :)
