Dress up... do boys do it?

I know tons of little girls dress up for Disney. Wear a princess dress, etc. But do little boys do it too?

I feel odd dressing my daughter (pre-preschooler) up, but not her brother (young toddler). She wants to wear Tinkerbell (tutu and wings). I was thinking just dressing our son w/ Mickey T and maybe ears (if he'll keep them on). But I don't want to look back on photos where she is all done up and he is just dressed plain.

Thoughts, Any other ideas?

I have always dressed my son up. Nothing fancy, just Mickey t-shirts. In Dec we went on a Disney cruise and then did WDW for a couple of days. I found him a cute outfit on Etsy.

For our upcoming trip I am getting him some shirts made. I have friend that just got an embroidery machine and she is making me some super cute shirts for him.

I have a feeling this may be the last trip that I will get to dress him up since he is getting older. My daughter no longer likes to either. So I am going to enjoy dressing him up for as long as I can ;)

Pirate costumes are the rage (actually just a small rage) or in-thing for boys at Disney these days.

We went with our best friends last year who have a 4 year old boy and he wore a Buzz Lightyear costume on the days his sister wore a princess dress.:goodvibes

When I was at Disney in December I saw a couple boys dressed up as Prince Charming. It was the most adorable thing ever!
There are also quite a few pirates out there too.

DS5 was a Jedi (mama made) for our DHS day....he did Jedi Academy in his costume and the pics turned out so cute!

I suggest watching "A Christmas Story" to see a boy respond to having to wear a pink bunny costume.

Too Funny... I don't think we will be doing a full out costume for my son. Daddy keeps giving me evil looks!!! Lol... So we are planning a really cool mickey shirt and some higher end Mickey ears/hat.

I will have a preschooler and 2 toddlers when we go. I will have fun new disney themed shirts for the boys to wear to the parks. We are doing pirate and pals voyage and I will dress the boys up as pirates for that!:cool1:

We are also going to do the MNSSHP and I will do a family themed costume for everyone!:woohoo:

Both of my boys ( 2yrs and 9 yrs at the time) wore Mickey and other Disney character t-shirts along with mouse ears on several of our park days during our trip this past August. For our next trip all of our kids want to do the Pirate's League at MK. I will probably make pirate themed tank tops or t-shirts and the Pirate's League packages include both make up and costume accessories. I think the price range is reasonable, although my girls want to do the mermaid package which costs a little more.

Pirates, Princes, Star Wars, and Toy Story characters are great costume ideas for boys. My son was a pirate last time we were in Disney when he was three. I made it and it barely cost a thing :) There is the Pirates League at MK next to the Pirates Rides that will make up your son or daughter or you can get the whole nine yards and buy the costume there as well. The Barber Shop will also spike, put in temporary dye and glitter for boys as well. Peter Pan might be a really cute costume if your DD will be Tink!!!

Have fun dressing up the kids:artist:

Dress him up and don't think another thing about it. It's Disney and it's your vacation - you all deserve to have a good time. We've dressed our boys in matching Mickey shirts in the past, but if we had a girl in full costume, I wouldn't hesitate to dress a boy up too.

DS wears a Prince Charming costume to dinner at 1900 PF, Flynn Rider to MNSSHP, and he's worn a Snow Prince costume to CRT. The kids don't wear costumes too often in the parks (except for MNSSHP) but instead wear customs. This year we're doing Pirates' League, so I'll be making them pirate customs/costumes for that, as well as the Albatross Treasure Cruise. Like a PP, taking advantage as long as they'll let me. ;)

When my son was 3, he dressed up as prince charming (much more handsome if I say so myself)! The pictures of him & Cinderella are PRICELESS!! He enjoyed dressing up & the extra attention from Cinderella made it all worth it (I promise there was no one else waiting behind us because we had an early dinner with us & the park was changingout for the mnsshp)!

Whatever you (and he!) feel comfortable with...go for it! One of the best times my oldest son had was his 4th birthday at Disneyland. He wore his Buzz Lightyear costume (it was 7 days after Halloween and he looked so awesome in it that we thought it would be a good day to wear it again!) and got so many compliments, interactions with characters, and special attention at the parade! It really made his birthday that much more special.
Otherwise, you will definitely see lots of boys in Mickey shirts (even tweens every now and then!) and hats. So just put him in whatever you feel comfortable with and that he will wear happily!
