Dream Key or Believe Key?

Looking for thoughts on which Key to buy. Originally, I was thinking Believe Key because I already have 3 stays on property coming up and won't need parking for those visits. The blackout dates are few and far between and I can work within those. None of my current upcoming plans conflict with those blackout dates. First look, I think I could save $450 by getting the Believe Key.

Then, I think about how much merchandise and food that I buy. Let's say I only spend $2K on merchandise over the year and that's if I am really holding back. That's about $200 difference in the merchandise discount. I'm sure I'll park a few times and I'll throw in $100 for that, but could be more, of course. Now, the difference between the keys is about $150. and I have even figured in any food discounts. I keep thinking that if it turns out that I want to go for just one of the blackout dates, I'll be saving money with the Dream Key.

Hard to predict the future and none of you are me with they way I do things, but wondering what you'd do. Would you just stick with the current plans I have (all on property stays) and just don't plan on visiting much beyond that and save the $450? Or, say the heck with it, I haven't been in over a year and I am going to splurge this year to make up for it?

If it’s within budget, then the Dream Key makes the most sense for anyone planning a lot of visits, parking at the Disney lots, and spending a lot on mech and food.

One thing to consider is that planning visits is no longer as simple as blockout vs non-blockout. Just because a day is not blocked doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be able to visit that day.

At this point it’s completely unknown how reservations will be allocated and whether it’ll be easy or difficult to get the dates you want. At the very least, the Dream Key gives you the most options should reservations be difficult to get.

Might be best to wait a little while after the Keys go on sale to see if any trends develop. Of course, if reservations get snapped up quick, maybe it’s best not to wait. Difficult to say.

I think Disney strategically made the keys this way to get more Dream purchases than they sold Signature and Signature Plus combined by blocking holiday dates unless you purchase the Dream. $450 is a lot of half price parkings. Long list of what discounts are not included in the Terms & Conditions. I was Signature Plus. Dream Key feels similar to a high priced Flex. Disappointed photos dropped off their highest tier. I think the decision on which key choice will come down to the dates each year you plan to reserve. Best match for me is the Dream.

Dream Key! 🏰🗝

Merch & food discounts! Parking, yes! Open in December!!!! Haven’t been a pass holder in years, now excited to be key holder! 💃🏼

Literally every single person I know (or have seen post on IG) is getting the Dream Key, even a lot of people who had lower-tier passes before.

So apparently that’s the thing to do…

I've been chatting on Slack with three co-workers, all who had the Flex Pass before, as I did. Right now we're all seriously considering the Dream key. At minimum, we all know we can't go lower than Believe. The blocked weekend days are just too restrictive on the lower passes, especially after the "flex"-ibility of having the Flex Pass. So no matter what, we are resigned to paying more to get even somewhat close to what we had with Flex. Yep, those Disney folks know what they're doing!

Honestly, I’m getting one with the parking included and the others will be the second highest tier. It works and we’ve done it before with the deluxe higher pass.
We are local so we aren’t relying on planning vacations…but to book a random once a month visit on a weekend.

I'm on the fence between Believe and Dream and I barely spend anything on merch. However, I do on food. And parking. If it won't break your budget, Dream does seem to make sense based on what you've outlined.

We are getting the Dream keys for sure. I like that it has no blackout days...gives more opportunities to visit throughout the year. Plus, Sundays will not work for our family anymore and the Believe key blocks out too many Saturdays.

You have to visit 15 times to make the Dream key make sense over the Believe key, if using parking We will go WAY more than that.

Do not underestimate the additional dining discount either. Food has gotten SO expensive in the parks.

I was thinking I would watch for a bit, but I am going early October and considering going for a day during Gay Days in September, now that I could have a pass. I won't be able to watch the patterns for very long, but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense to get the Dream Key. One of my issues is that my husband always wants exactly what I get for myself, even if he only goes once - not exaggerating. I will just tell him I have a lower pass, haha.

After thinking about it more, I always had Signature until the last year when I decided to try out Flex pass, which I actually hated. I visited way more than I thought I would and really missed the free parking. The other thing I hated was making reservations, but looks like I'll always have to do that. I do remember now thinking that I would only get Signature Plus after the Flex Pass. Even with a flexible schedule, I tend to visit on the busier times/days. Just knowing that the passes will be available, I am already thinking about the additional days/seasons I'll be visiting.

I forget that we do spend a lot on dining. I have been picturing myself getting snacks and coffee, but we almost always have an expensive sit down meal that runs $150 or more. The more I think about it, I think I can't afford to not get a Dream Key. It just looks so expensive before breaking everything down. And I can do the monthly payments.

Given everything you’ve said, it would make sense to me to go with Dream. With no blackout dates, you may be inclined to go more frequently. Or at least you’ll have that option. I made my decision to go with Dream in less than a second. If you’re familiar with my regular park reports, you'll know that I go nearly every Sunday so no other key would make sense. Throw in parking and there’s no other choice.

Here’s a thought: perhaps if you go with Dream, you’ll take a three-day weekend trip to LA and spend one of those days at the park(s). With free parking and no blackout dates, that’s an easy choice.
