Does your McDonald's (or other drive-thru place) do this?

If I get drive-through and order more than one drink, they always put the drinks in one of those corrugated cardboard trays and hand them to me that way. :confused3 Then, I take each drink out of the tray, put them in my car cup-holders and hand the cardboard tray back to them. :lmao:

I guess I'm supposed to keep the cardboard tray and toss it in the trash, but it bugs me. It seems so wasteful to use that thing for nothing more than to hand the drinks through the window, then toss it.

I know there's a lot of waste in fast food - wrappers, bags, etc, but the rest of it is kind of necessary. They don't really need these drink trays, they could hold two cokes in their two hands and hand them to me just as easily, and three or four cokes would only take one more reach out the window. :confused3

Does this bug anyone else, or am I just nuts? ;)

They always ask me if I want a drink holder, and I always say no.

Maybe you could specify no drink holder when you place your order.

No it bugs me too. I also will hand it back. Sometimes they ask if I want one though and it saves me time of handing it back.

If you just put the cup holder on the seat, it WILL stay upright (unless you are doing some NASCAR stunts ) Then, in the end, it makes transporting 4 drinks from car to wherever MUCH easier.

Since we don't don't eat in the car and just transport it in the house those holders are a life saver.

I usually put on the front seat or on the floor of the passenger seat. My cup holder are usually full of change, empty container etc anyway....:lmao:

I wish they would ask! Hmm, I could try specifying ahead of time -- if I remember! :rotfl:

Really?! I still don't trust it as much as my cup holders! :lmao:

I always have each person carry their own drink if we are picking up food to take somewhere. If I'm bringing it home for dinner, I don't buy drinks, we have plenty at home.

I can see why other people might like them, but I wish they would ask, rather than just use it for everyone.

Sometimes it is darn cheaper to buy the combos then just not buy a drink. Plus that is the treat part to my kids, they don't get soda at home.

This is said when wanting just the toy, cheaper to buy a meal since the meals are like only a dollar more. Some one will eat it, mainly my hubby.:lmao:

My McDonald's is just the opposite....I want the drink carrier and I never get it until I ask for it. As soon as I see her starting to pass me the first of my 4 drinks....I stop her and say "I'm alone here, can I have a drink carrier". Then she rolls her eyes......I roll mine and sigh loudly whilst shaking my head.

It a bi-weekly dance that we do...but I love it :lmao:

The same thing happens to me every time I do a lunch run for everybody at work. Do they really think I can carry all those individual drinks plus the food by myself? :confused3

McDonalds can't win for losing, They try to give people cup holders they complain, They don't give people cup holders people complain:confused3

It just seems like it would be common sense that if you're handing someone 4 drinks and they're the only person in the car that they might need a cup holder. I always have to ask-they never just give me one.

They use cup holders to speed up service. yeah, I know that is a funny comment considering the drive thru is not always the fastest service.

When I worked the drive thru of a fast food restaurant, speed was always the one thing we were reminded (nagged) repeatedly. Drinks are the first prepared item of an order. They should be ready long before the car arrives to the window. To avoid wasted time passing multiple items through the window, we just put all the cups in a holder. It also knocks out the wasted time needed while the customer refuses the first drink passed, asks for a carrier, employee having to go get carrier and put drinks in it, etc.

I think I've only had that happen once, where she tried to give me two drinks in the cardboard holder and I just told her I didn't need that and she took them out and handed them to me.

If I'm only getting two drinks, no holder needed as I have two cup holders in my car but if I'm getting more than two then I do appreciate a cardboard holder.

Ours does that. It makes it easier for them to hand you the drinks. I just take them out and return the tray to them.

Our McDonalds always gives those out when there is more than one drink. Personally, I don't have a problem with it. It definately comes in handy when I'm picking up dinner for my family. I just place it on the seat next to me while on the way home and then take it in with me into the house. The front cup holders in the car do not hold drinks well at all.

Our McDonald's asks. Or they just do it if you have more than 2 drinks. I like them because I always have other stuff in my cupholder (sunglasses, work badge, cell phone, etc). What can I say, I'm a slob.

This bugs me to! They will use any excuse to give me a cup-holder even when I just order a drink and a yogurt they will line one of the cup spaces with paper towels and stuff the yogurt in there :confused3

I can certainly see why they would do it for someone with three or more drinks, but I don't understand their enthusiasm for the tray when I just have one drink.

That's funny - I'm annoyed because ours DOESN'T do this. They hand us the drinks and then act all annoyed when we ask for a cup holder.

You forgot the time that the eye rolls and sighs take up as well :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
