Just curious about this. I picked my dog up from the groomer yesterday and noticed someone doing this. I have never noticed this before. If you do tip your dog groomer how much (if you don't mind me asking)
thanks
Lisa

My Mom is a dog groomer and some tip and some don't. Usually when she gets a tip it is a couple dollars, sometimes 5.

I don't think she expects it, but it is always appreciated.

I don't have a dog yet, just a long haired cat, who goes to the groomers. They charge $50 for them to groom him and I give them $60. 20% like I was getting my hair cut.

I do... I have 2 dogs and always tip $20. I know that may seem like a bit much but one of my puppies is blind so I always appreciate the extra attention they give him (he can be difficult).

I work at a dog groomers and i'd say most do NOT tip. Those that do, tip between $3-5. I'd say the ones with the more difficult dogs to do, are the ones that do not tip! Although most of our dogs are very well behaved and used to being groomed. It's like anything else, if you are happy with your groomer's work, they should be tipped accordingly. PS: i don't groom, just work there taking appts, holding and reassuring the scared pups and sneaking them treats, lol :dog2:

NO WAY! but its a looonnnngg story.

Yes, I do. I have 2 dogs and my bill comes to about $55 and I write a check for $65. I will give my groomers $50 in their Christmas card next week. I have wonderful groomers who, over the years (7) have gone out of their way for me (after my back surgery, they offered to pick up and deliver the dogs). My dogs are happy to go see them and they are happy to see the dogs!

I tipped $10 for 2 dogs. My oldest recently died.

As far as I know both were good at the groomers and not much trouble. At least they always told me they were good! One was a keeshound so I know it was work to cut him but he just got a puppy cut nothing fancy.

The other dog is a short haired dog that would go in once in awhile for a bath and get her toes clipped. Often we wash her ourselves and clip her toes so I know she is easy. Nervous dog but not difficult.

I always tip the groomer, just like I tip my hair stylist. My dog can be a bit difficult, and we had a horrible time finding a groomer who didn't complain about his attitude. The groomer we go to now has a great rapport with my dog, and she assures me that he is always very good for her. I'm so happy with the situation, I tip her very generously, more than 20%.

I always tip - I tip my stylist, and i don't pee on, bark at, or bite her!

I try to stick with 20%, just like a human stylist.

I tip $25 for each dog, having 2 samoyeds groomed at the same time is tough work for him and i appreciate it.I pay $75 a dog then the tip.he has them from 9am till 6 pm.

:grouphug: ... how is she?

She still has a very unsteady gait but its a miracle that she can even walk. She has been hesitant about doing her business on the newspaper inside so I take her out and she goes really quickly. She knows that is what she should do. She knows where her dog dish is, she remembers areas of the house and how to find her way around and her appetite has improved. She is eating three decent sized meals per day. I hold her water and her food under her chin, and I hold her but I put Cheerios in her dish so she can bend to pick them up....for exercize. She can sleep curled up in a ball. That's a big improvement alone. When I think that just a little more than a week ago she didn't seem aware, had nystagmus and was paralyzed, she has come so very far. I don't know that she will ever be at the level of walking that she was, but I am thankful that she is alive.

I actually never have. The women who grooms my dog is an independent groomer. I've never thought to pay her above and beyond what she charges and don't know that I will ever.

Thank goodness you posted this!!!! I send the groomer a card for Christmas with a "tip" of $75 for the whole year, and completely forgot to do it!

Now $75 seems like a lot, but I don't tip at each cut, and I figured out it came to about $4.00 per cut. Just figured it's nicer to get it in one lump sum at Christmas time rather than a couple of bucks scattered through out the year.

Gotta go write myself a note to send that out tomorrow

Yes we do and this is one of the few people who get a Christmas bonus...of course our dog is a Husky, Malamute, Sammy mix...just a little bit of hair there!
