hi there, we leave for disneyland on a saturday (may 13)and return the 10 laters, so a total 11 days and my 3 kids will miss 5 school days...i took a lot of time planning when the best time to go would be, especially for my 14 yr old daughter who is on a semester system....she knows she will have to work a little harder before we go and when we get back....and yes, my kids all do get A's and B's and that makes it easier to pull them out, but only because i dont want to make it too hard on them, if they struggled with school, i think that it would probably be too hard for them to catch up and i would hate to watch them struggling...another thing i think is probably important is making sure your child is caught up way ahead of time, mine always hand things in on time, but it amazes the emails i get from one teacher going back weeks that kids havent handed things in from...it is definately a personal choice and one i talked over with my kids and they want to go for it....also, my oldest hasnt missed one day of school this year, so this 5 days will probably be what most miss with colds....the only other trip we took was to WDW in dec 04 and they missed 8 school days, but not one of them had any homework before or after that trip..i pulled them out when they were doing all the christmas parties and concerts, and they missed very minimal work....they got lucky that time.....
