Do you have to provide Proof of Income at Timeshare Presentations?

We may get invited to do the Marriott Grande Vista deal.

You have to have an annual income of $70,000 or more to be "eligible".

Do we (DH and I) need to bring current paycheck stubs with us prior to the presentation?

Or, do they confirm our salaries with HR at the time of reservation?

I've never been asked for proof. If you are considering a purchase, you should look at the resale market. You will be surprised by the huge difference in price between the developer and what it can be brought (or sold for) on the resale market.

I would NEVER share my personal information like that with a slimy timeshare salesperson! (Sorry if I'm offending any slimy timeshare salespeople with that comment! LOL)

If you're buying a place and need to provide it to get credit, get a loan, home loan, car loan, etc, that's a completely different story, but just to see their presentation!? Ummm...NO you can't have my personal information, you can't have my SS# or any of my information, if you're LUCKY you MIGHT get my phone # and home address! LOL

We were offered to do one in Disneyland last year and they did say that we had to have x amount of income to qualify, and we ended up not doing it. They wanted my aunt to sign something saying she had the income requirements and we thought that was wrong. They don't need to know how much money we make until we decide to buy it. And if we had cash to pay for it, income wouldn't matter! I wouldn't give them the info!

I'd sign it, sure, I just wouldn't offer my personal information as proof. If asked, I'd say "I more than qualify and that's ALL you need to know, unless we decide to buy!".

See..once you give them that info..then they'll use it against you to try and sell you. "Well...you make $xxx per year...so what's xx% of your income to invest in such a beautiful timeshare property!?"....LOL

Or...just as likely ...they're trying to keep out the people who can't afford it!

Personally, I wouldn't go to one anyhow, so not going to make much of a difference to me either way! I once did the computer systems / network for a company here in Chicagoland that sells timeshares to people...it was pretty interesting...I was scared the whole time they'd be trying to sell me something, but they didn't! They had a complete replica of an airplane inside their building...they would sit people in the "plane" and show them a movie on the resorts they were selling. We laughed about this, but they said sales went up 60% when they put in the plane...pretty interesting.

My husband and I did one last year when we were in Orlando. They never asked for proof of income but let's say we'll never do that again. We wasted 2 hours just for a breakfast and $100. IMHO not worth it. They are hard core about selling they chase you out the door with offers. They don't take no lightly. Also as posted above you can find the same timeshare cheaper thru resale. We found a couple on ebay for the same place we did the presentation.

I can understand having to provide proof of income before being shown a $6M house, but a timeshare?

I am a single parent & have done quite a few timeshare presentations in Orlando (Fairfield Cypress Palms, Marriott Horizions, Cypress Pointe, Celebration World Resort, Summerbay, & Fairfield Star Island). I was never once asked for my proof of income. In "general conversation" I've been asked where I worked & what I do for the company but have never been asked for a paystub or ph# to HR to verify how much I make or anything like that.

Marriott's fairly low pressure. I took thier tour years ago in Hilton Head because I was interested in their property. Didn't buy but it was a BEAUTIFUL place....

we have done marriott before and they are very low pressure and would do one again. You usually get a great room rate and a couple of free tickets so its not a bad deal.

They have never asked for income, but they do "chat you up" by asking where you work, what do you do kind of thing.

A rep at marriot grande vistahas phoned a couple of times asking if I was still interested in receiving the 5day/4night stay for 199.00 I didnt know if I should accept. Maybe its a good deal, maybe i should accept. I just didnt want to be having to produce personal info for the special.

I'm single so my answer may be incorrect but I think they like to make sure both spouses are there for the timeshare presentation. I was asked once to do a timeshare presentation but I was told that since I was single that I couldn't go. Instead of me continuing to say that I wasn't interested, they made it easy for me. Of course they were wrong about single people not being able to buy timeshares but I wasn't interested in another presentation anyway.

Relax, and enjoy your vacation, there are a ton of timeshare offers out there that are excellent and are offered are wonderful (clean) resorts.

Did our share of them before purchasing a 2nd home in the Orlando area.
I have posted on other threads about this. From an ex Travel Industry specialist, the deals are great, the resorts are excellent, it's well worth the 90minutes (FL legal time limit you can be at these tours) they already know this.

Take it from someone who's done over 9 of them in 3 years! There have been a few posts on here 3-4 hours, that's wrong! They should of left......and been reported....just complaining about something isn't get these scumbs!
Sometimes the general public is lax.
Don't take seriously either from people who have written on these threads.....
I have heard*, they obviously haven't gone on a one, and don't know what they are even writing about!
Only book with well known resorts, Marriotts, Wyndam, Celebrity, Sheraton,
they have reputations, there's another very large one in Orlando Westgate, they have a so so reputation.........Seems like the last year or so Marriott has offered the best in locations, & price for the consumer. Marriott has over 12 web pages for these offers, so there's so many codes out there-
You can call any one of these properties as well and ask for time share tours, they can either give you the number of the timeshare office or connect you directly. One of the best ways to get to Orlando for a family vacation, most are 4 nights 5 days, alot of them you can extend your stay for additional.
If you don't need the tickets, breakfast, meals, etc. Be vocal. You can get additional discounts by not accepting these extra's. We have.
Like paying for any other hotel/resort stay state your preference, non smoking room/newer unit, pool view, lower level, higher level, whatever your preferences are, reg size washer & dryer vs. stacked washer/dryer, whatever, they want your business. We have always recieved what I have requested in all the time share requests, and because of these requests, we were always put in a better* value* villa/condo.
Be a savvy traveler. The only personality type that I wouldn't recommend on going on these tours is someone who cannot think for themselves or who is easily swayed...........other than that, just say no!
