I guess what I am asking is will a view that would normally be considered to be water view be switched to a resort view category if it is facing stormalong bay? I thought the YC refurb was soft goods ...or did I get that wrong? It is hard to keep up LOL

Hmm, I don’t think they’ve switched categories like that at any other resort, so I don’t expect it here either. All that’s been announced so far is some rooms will be getting updates. They haven’t said what beyond that. I doubt they’ll make major changes to room design. But I expect painting all over, some rooms may need flooring replaced, hallway carpeting replaced etc. Those all have the potential to be noisy or disruptive.

Edit, If you’re staying at BC, the YC refurb shouldn’t be an issue for you. Hopefully it won’t be loud enough to hear it there.

No, that's never happened in the past either. The description of a Water View room is "View of Crescent Lake, Storm Along Bay or quiet pool". Some rooms will still have a view of SAB, albeit a crappy one, so technically still fits the Water View category.

Thanks - zero percent chance that I am going to pay extra for a chance of a crappy view. Unless of course a bigger discount during this time makes it worth it

Do you think that the Stormalong Bay refurbishment will affect Room Categories from Jan to May/June? I would hate to book Water View and be stuck looking at a pool refurb all week.

Views of Stormalong Bay, Crescent Lake or Quiet Pool

It is defining a water view room as having a view of Stormalong Bay. It does not specify that Stormalong Bay will be full of water at the time you look out your window. It does not say that there will not be construction going on at Stormalong Bay at the time you look out your window.

They did in June, and it’s hard to imagine that’s changed in the last couple of months.

We check in today, I’ll let you know. But I expect they will still have individual toiletries until the room rehabs next year. I think that’s what happened with every other resort.

Last evening I noticed some work being done on the walkway in front of the old spa area. Not sure what’s going on, looks like a big hole dug from the building towards the pool.

Interesting. I was there recently and that bridge was there, looks like the work has extended out towards the pool bridge. Underneath those black plates is a deep hole with two large water lines. It looked to me like maybe something had broken requiring digging down to that section of pipe.

We actually just walked back & forth to BC, that square box area in the last picture is full of dirt now. And yea, that hole under the bridge is huge.

Not to change the subject, but I am looking for a CL trip in March at YC or if needed the BC. Any word on the upgrades to the YC CL lounge? I know Stormalomg Bay is going to be refurbished Jan to May but the quiet pools are open

Any info on the CL lounge? I see that there are no club rooms available from Jan 1st to Feb 17.
