Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Question about the Beach Club and Yacht Club Concierge lounges. I know this has been asked, but can't really remember any replies.

What is available for milk substitutes in the lounge? Do you have to contact the Concierge staff in advance of your trip, or can you just ask when you arrive?

I believe recent investigations at the BC Marketplace have turned up soy milk, but no almond or coconut milk.

I am trying to include as much info for guests who have allergies or food restrictions to help them with upcoming stays at the BC or YC resort in the Dining Post (Post 7) of this thread.

I would appreciate if people could share any other tips or info about food accommodations they have experienced. For example, we had a recent poster tell us that a gluten-free version of the Kitchen Sink is available at Beaches & Cream.

I received a wonderful surprise when our daughter (DD2) called to say she was crashing our October Beach Club vacation. She booked a trip that will overlap ours by four days. :yay: This is the daughter who lives 1.000 miles away from us rather than Cari (aka Hi Pluto) who posts here and blames me for her BC obsession. :rolleyes1 All of our kids love the BC, of course. What's not to like. ;) We have stayed at the WL with DD2 in January when it was too cold for swimming. It will be really nice to have her, our son-in-law, and the two grandchildren, age 6 and 8, here at the BC when the weather will be good for swimming. Our 6 year old granddaughter is a dare devil and she will love the Pirate slide. Our grandson will love the pool games. This October trip has suddenly become a whole lot more fun than it was before she called.

I kept checking my MDE for our April trip, hoping that my garden/woods view room would magically change to lagoon view. When it hadn't changed by arrival day I was sure that we didn't get an upgrade. Even when we walked into the room and our room was facing the lagoon our MDE still said garden view. It wasn't until a day or so later that my MDE listed the room as lagoon view. Maybe the delay was because I had booked through Orbitz rather than Disney. :confused3

Last year when we went, I kept checking before we arrived to see if there was any pixie dust but it looked like we missed out on it. That is until we arrived at the YC to find out we were upgraded from lagoon view to lagoon CL and we were picked as the YC family of the day! So I guess it can happen at anytime! This trip I wasn't expecting any type of upgrade since we booked through a "magical" TA.

Sounds AWESOME!! You will have so much fun! I'm hoping the same for my 6 yo daredevil daughter and the pirate slide!!

We're just back from 4 nights at Beach Club!! We were in room 4727, on the corner closest to YC, facing SAB (upgrade from standard view - yay!). It's a HUGE room with a king bed, a fold out sleeper chair, and two Juliet balconies. It was an 8 minute walk from the lobby though, and we couldn't find a better way to get there other than using the main elevators. The refurbished rooms are gorgeous, and the beds are SO COMFY!

As far as the refurbishment progress goes, 1501 and the rooms around it have furniture! They'll probably be ready soon.

And finally, we got one of the fake pizza delivery ads under our door on Sunday night. We googled the name and it was a scam, not that we were planning on getting a pizza anyway. I turned it in to the front desk yesterday morning. Be on the lookout for sketchy stuff!

Thanks so much for posting about your room and your trip! We also appreciate the info about the progress on the BC refurb.

I copied the first part of your post to the BC Views Thread, but I you have any pictures of the room/view you can post here or there (or email them to me at beachclubdee at yahoo) I would love to add them to this thread:

Beach Club Room Views

Had you requested a King Bed room?

:goodvibes:

Hi. I've just booked my first stay at the Beach Club, found this board and thread, and have learned so much! I just wanted to say hello and thank you for all of this wonderful information! My husband and I are really looking forward to just walking into EPCOT for the Food & Wine Festival. Our dates are 10/25-10/31. Please add us to the Be Our Guest list!

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS!

:woohoo:

I'll add you to the list.

:cool1:

We leave tomorrow and I did online check-in a couple of days ago.

I know your trip has already come (and maybe gone), but just wanted to say :welcome: back! Have not seen you post in a while.

:)

THAT SOUNDS AMAZING!! And thanks for the tip on the pizza scam.

On MDE you can see your reservation details. I think if it is something that would happen it would be very close to your arrival date or upon your arrival.

I'm 7 days away from check in for the Poly and 12 for the BC.

I think I'm still too far out.

Once it's set with your room will you be unable to "modify check in?"

We are staying at the Beach Club October 9-13th, we are so excited. I am curious about some of the "perks" of staying deluxe. We have mainly stayed at moderates, and Pop Century. We did stay at Wilderness Lodge, back in January 2005.

Does the Beach Club do a nightly turndown service? What time do they do this?

Anything else we should expect?

What do you guys do about wet swimsuits? Where do you hang them? The balcony or the bathroom?

With the humidity, I fine hanging them I the bathroom from Clothespins in the line works best. We also pack two per person so they have a longer time to dry between uses.

We are very light packers, but we still take 2 swimsuits per person since they take so long to dry at WDW. And I agree that hanging them on the line in the bathroom works best since it's usually so humid outside.

Light packer....hmm. I need to learn!! Its funny I was looking at wdwprepschool's ultimate packing list and park backpack items and thinking wow I am never going to be that put-together...I am somewhere in the middle with a lot of clothes I won't wear but missing things that would have been a good idea!!

I copied that list into my word document and cut it by at least half. Some of the stuff on that list was outrageous! I can't imagine packing that much stuff.

We do pack a lot of clothes but I don't think we go completely overboard.

The only rooms that get turndown service is CL. I am not sure what time they do it because I think they do it when they can. We always came back from the parks, the pool, or the Lounge with the beds already turndowned.

We hang ours on the clothes line in the shower/tub. We also bring 2 suits each because they are usually never dry when we want to swim the next day, but sometimes they are. If they are not dry by the time we are leaving, we have a wet/swim bag I pack and bring them home.

I actually put mine on a chair on the balcony if I'm on anything but the first floor. I do take two suits so I switch out but I find if I hang them inside they smell a bit musty, even though I rinse them well before hanging them. I'm a diver so wearing a damp suit is kind of normal for me and I like the smell of fresh air after they have been outside.

Sue, that must have been a great surprise!!!!! What fun it will be with the grandkids in SAB!!!!!!
This is our park commando daughter so I really hope she slows down a little on this trip so that the kids can enjoy SAB. ;)

We will be staying at our first moderate resort in just ten days, so I'll finally get to see what the differences are. I did notice from some pictures of the room that the deluxe resorts have real coffee mugs while the moderates have Styrofoam cups. Can anyone else confirm that we'll get Styrofoam cups instead of real mugs at POR?

I just watched the DIS Unplugged episode on the BC and the YC. These two resorts are on my wish list for next year, but I am concerned after watching. Are the food choices really that bad at the market place and Hurricane Hannas, Cape May, Beaches and Cream also the YC? I have stayed at two deluxe resorts and while I think that the food courts are better at the moderates the Poly and the WL were still good. Am I crazy to question staying at either the BC or YC on the bases of this Dis Unplugged episode?

There is another thread (I think in the News and Rumors) that said they are no longer doing the towel animals.(Actually more than one thread). One of the posts said they heard the Mousekeeper reminded of possible reprimands if they continued to make them. Hope you have a wonderful rest of your stay!
Sarah
I know this is a very late reply but I always feel so melancholy following the boards when I have just gotten back from a trip so I tend to stay away for a while. I did notice the lack of towel animals while we were at BCV and asked one of the mangers while chatting with them one day. We thought perhaps our mouse keeping folks just weren't into it.
