Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Rack Rates are now live for January-October 2026.

As expected, the booking categories for French Quarter are only:
  • Standard Location
  • Preferred Location
  • King Bed

Thanks for posting this.

@andrewilley: Do you know what the standard and preferred categories actually refer to? Is it just about the building? Thanks.

So disappointing! I prefer booking river view at POFQ. I guess I can request river view as a preference. The room descriptions on the website are exactly the same for standard and preferred, so no help there.

In the early days of POFQ (would have been just Port Orleans), the views were standard and water with standard including parking lot and garden. Supposedly, Disney expanded the room categories because of numerous requests for garden and river views.

The logic seems to be that at Moderates (and presumably Values too?) do not have private windows or balconies to the outside world, only a shared walkway. So guests are more interested in the physical location of the room - close to bus stop, main building, etc - rather than what's directly outside their window. Personally I disagree too - particularly with regard to at least avoiding parking lot views - but hey what do we know?

I couldn't agree more.

So . . . does the preferred location mean it's close to the main building? And, if so, does that mean a preferred location wouldn't have a river view? Yes, the view means something to me. We keep the shades open a lot of the time and it's also wonderful to be able to walk out of the room and see the river or the courtyard and not a parking lot.

How many outlets/USB outlets are in the rooms? Trying to decide if I need to bring a charging tower. We have 4 phones, 3 watches, and 4 portable fans to charge
I would recommend bringing a charging tower. Even though there are charging ports in the rooms, in my experience (even in newly refurbished rooms), not all of them work or are really loose and the charging cord doesn't stay secure.

The elimination of room view categories seems to be following what was done with Deluxe resorts last year. The standard & garden view categories were combined to resort view, which can be anything from a pretty garden, to a roof or a parking lot. The only benefit seems to be simplifying things for room assigners.

Pretty much, I think. I'm guessing here, but I would expect that most or all of the rooms in building #4 will probably be considered as Preferred, and possibly the end segments of #2 and #5 also?

Wow I had been waiting for 2026 to book POFQ for 1/2-1/5 next year and as soon as it opens it's not available!

Since this is right after New Year is it possible the entire resort was booked with reservations that started before New Year? I know it's one of the smaller resorts. Or is it possible they didnt release the full inventory?

Will book something else for now but hoping something here opens up eventually for our dates!

Either. There will be some existing Xmas-week bookings that run over a few days into 2026, but also there could be an inventory load issue (for example there is an issue with King Bed rooms at Riverside for January).

I've played with a few dates in feb and march and availability looks limited. I'm guessing it's due to them not releasing the rooms yet? Could they fill up that fast a year out?

OMG! Welcome to the minority. LOL We also open our curtains, it makes the room so much brighter and just more enjoyable to see the outside, and we could care less about the few people that may walk by our room. Only at WDW do we rather have our room door opening to the outside and not a hallway. I know our DDs have always liked it better.
