Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Building 6. The river view rooms face the bridge to PO-Riverside and are surprisingly close to the resort center and the bus stop. It was one of the best rooms that we have had in WDW in close to 25 years of visits.

We just got back from a stay in building 6. 6126, corner room, king bed, river view. It was incredible! I had wanted to stay at POFQ for a while and this could not have been more perfect. We checked in on the Thursday right after they reopened the building and our room was ready at 9:30am, so I’m pretty sure we were the first people to stay in the room after renovations. We loved it so much we’re staying there again in July!

What are the capabilities of the smart TVs in the updated rooms? Are you able to stream YouTube or other streaming services?
I was able to stream in the updated BWV rooms, would imagine POFQ would be the same … will be there in mid March I’ll try to remember to update the post

You cannot stream YouTube at WDW. But we have had luck with other streaming services. It just takes a while to get the casting working.

The cast member I spoke with told me river view rooms don’t have king beds? I see he was wrong lol. I put in a request for building 6.

The CM was right, technically. The River View booking category does not include any rooms with king beds, they all feature two queens.

However the reverse is not true; if you book a King Bed category room, those rooms are scattered all around the resort (all on corners, which is a nice bonus) and you might well get one which overlooks the river, especially if you request that.

For example in my floorplan, the blue rooms are sold as 'River View', while purple are 'King Bed' in similar locations. 6126 is a King Bed category room, not a River View even though it does overlook the river from both windows, a lovely location. The room allocation folks have the flexibility to try to match requests by shifting room categories if there is spare capacity though, so you never know.

Awesome explanation! There's my good old 6126! When we go back in July, I'm hoping we get lucky again! It was an especially pleasant surprise since we didn't put in any room requests at all. For this next trip, I've already requested ground floor and corner room. I know the corner room is kind of redundant, but hoping to stack the deck, haha.

Yes, all King Bed rooms are on corners at POFQ, there's no need to request one for a King Bed category booking.

As there is a stairwell right next to the second window of 6126, I think I'd go for the top floor - unless you have mobility issues anyway, in which case either 6123 or 6140 would work well.

Thank you! Do you think I should call back and request a corner room, building 6? I would prefer a king bed if possible lol.

Is there a reason you prefer a ground floor room? I know we liked our ground floor room at WL.

If you want a king bed, that is a reservation Booking Category, not a request. You need to book it. Unless you happen to get lucky and they have spare capacity and give you a pixie dust upgrade anyway. My previous comments assumed that you had made a King Bed booking.

Thank you. I wanted to book a king room, but they told me river view rooms don’t have king beds, maybe it was just sold out.

As we've been discussing above, there are no River View Category rooms that have king beds. However as King Bed Category rooms do not have any specific view type associated with them, some of them have lovely views over the river,

Not especially. We are both able-bodied, so we don't need accommodation, but we just enjoyed being able to step right out and go, especially with hauling luggage. When I'm in a "normal" hotel, I actually prefer to be higher up, but it felt nice to just step right out onto the beautiful grounds and start wandering.

Does anyone know if there will be a mardi gras parade going from French Quarter to Riverside? Thanks! 🙂
