You know my MB has dolewhips on it, right?

I love it, very cute :goodvibes.

We had a standard room at Grand Floridian RPC this past May. Our view was of the lagoon/pool/monorail. We loved it. I would definitely book it again. The grounds of the Grand Floridian are beautiful; not as spectacular as seeing Cinderella's castle, but still beautiful.

I love that view! And I agree, the GF grounds are very relaxing and beautiful :cloud9:.

This AKL spread looks amazing! Now I really can’t wait until September

Hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

AKL CL is tops on our food list right now. All have their pros and cons of course, but we left very impressed.

This is good to hear. I'm hoping to try AKL CL later this year or sometime next year ;).

Love reading your positive post about AKL CL as we are staying there in October and very excited to expierence their CL

Hope you have a great time :goodvibes.

My DD & I fell in love with AKL CL during our June trip. :cloud9: So much love that we changed our Poly CL Lagoon View reservation to AKL CL for our upcoming August trip. (nothing against the Poly, but everything about AKL was fantastic!) I treasure the memories created on that trip, and have my string of beads (earned from the AKL activities) hanging in my desk at work to remind me to keep working hard so I can go back!

Thank you so much! How fun that your DD learned to walk there! I certainly hope she has a great “Sweet 16” at Disney on your upcoming trip! I totally understand your thought process on adding that night; my DD had already told me that she didn’t mind riding in the car that long on her birthday bc she was just glad to be going to Disney, but I simply couldn’t help adding that day as a surprise! Keep us updated on what you decide. I look forward to hearing all about your trip—AKL is such a wonderful destination all by itself!

Just a quick update on plans. I booked a Royal River View room at POR for our first night (we will probably get to WDW close to midnight). DD can wake up surrounded by princesses on her 16th birthday. princess:

On her birthday, we have planned to head to take a boat to Disney Springs for a visit to the Void in the morning, followed by lunch at Chef Art Smith's Homecomin'. After lunch we will drive to AKL to check in for our 9-night stay there. Some other plans that we have during the trip are:
  • Sense of Africa tour (repeat from last trip, but we enjoyed it so much)
  • Disney After Hours on August 11 (we did this in March of 2017 and enjoyed it, hope it's just as good in summer!)
  • Star Wars dessert party (another repeat from last trip, but worth repeating!) :darth:
  • Lunch at Sanaa - yummy
  • Soak in all that is AKL and just relax and enjoy my time there!!
Our trip in June was a mother/daughter trip. This time, my DH (whose favorite resort is Poly) is going with us - I hope he enjoys AKL just as much as we do!

Good morning,

I have just booked a Club Level room (for 4 adults) at the Beach Club.

Now, the last time DH and I were in a Club Level room at the Yacht Club, they made us visit the lounge and they received us with a glass of sparkling wine.

Do you know if it's (still) the case at the Beach Club? Thanks in advance!

You absolutely do not have to visit the lounge when you arrive if you don’t want to! You may be offered a welcome drink, you may have to request one and don’t be afraid to do that they were happy to get people drinks when we asked.

The welcome drink i had was champagne mixed with that seabreeze juice. YUMMY.

However it has been a while. I have learned to ask for stuff. "do you by any chance have a welcome beverage?" is something I would do if not offered.

Do you think it's possible to ask for it in advance by e-mail or something? Would love to surprise my FIL and MIL with it. :)

So I absolutely can't wait 22 days until my kids and I arrive for our AKL CL reservation during our split stay. This will be my 2nd time at Jambo House and my kids 1st but all of our 1st time staying at any Club Level! Beyond excited.

Truly, if CL menus have recently become more healthy that is good news.

I still wholeheartedly maintain that say that too many WDW QS menus still follow a rather dated fast food model. Bacon cheeseburgers are still very prevalent.

Why can't WDW do the reverse? Why not offer a place like Satu'li in every theme park? (By that I mean a place where healthy options are more the focus than an afterthought?)

Doesn't this sound exciting?

There is a reason for this. It sells. How much of that fruit gets sold vs how many Mickey Ice Cream bars? This is a business and if healthy food doesn't sell then there will not be a lot of it. Simple economics. People are on vacation. Most of them don't follow their "healthy" eating plans on vacation. I know I don't. Also what is served at all of the venues is based on multiple factors. Theme of the area, cost of food, price people will pay, what is available/ in season and what people seem to want. If more people complained about the food choices in WDW then they would change them. It would not be difficult to do what you are asking. I think WDW executives just don't see any profit in doing so.

You should still keep complaining because if no one says anything then nothing changes. Hopefully, there are more people like you out there so you can get what you want. It seems you are in the minority but this is just one thread in one forum. Just my two cents, I like the current choices because I view food and vacation differently than you do but we all do Disney our own way and that is what makes it great.

Regarding RPC, can you just to up to the lounge upon arrival if you have already done online check in? We will be staying at Pop the night before. Planning to check out Pop around 7am to go to RPC for some pastries/coffee before leaving for the park. Aiming to leave GF no later than 9:45am and to arrive AK by 10:30am... Hope it will work as planned..

I have arrived via a transfer as early as 7:30 am for breakfast, so YES.

No, just ask for it if they don’t offer like it’s nbd in the course of things and let them be impressed ;)

DSS is not onsite so I would not recommend requesting in advance. I agree with Pluto .

However knowing you can request beverages all hours of the day and carry them back to the room with be a nice treat for them. I love that late evening "sip" while relaxing at the end of the day.

So, I'm considering my Poly GV CL room request. I'm leaning towards Floor 1 because easy pool access. But, sometimes a fam member or two naps in the afternoon and if the room are noisy from the pool I don't want them fighting that. My father wants easy club access but that would mean Floor 2 (right? the club is on Floor 2 with a mini seating area on floor 3 that has a staircase down into the rest of the club?) with no balconies. I'm trying to get the layout in my head to make the best request for us (and then watch us get exactly what we decided we didn't want! hey, it's wdw so it'll still be great though!)

By beverages "all hours of the day", do you mean alcoholic drinks?

You ‘should’ be able to.

These sort of things might / might not happen on any given day, but I had a bunch of MB trouble in April when we spent a night at AoA then moved the AKL the next morning. The greeter took my family up to the lounge (AK actually had a CL greeter) and I parked the car. When I went to the elevator to go up to meet them - red scan. Had to go to the regular check-in desk, wait, and explain I needed to be let up. Had several other issues that day with room and charging access. No idea if related to the move from AoA. Likely just coincidence. But who knows.

I also had similar issues a few weeks ago when we moved from Poly to YC which required about 20 mins of help from the front desk and a personal escort to our rooms to test and re-test bands.

Anyways - I’ve gone from never having MB issues (and honestly, thinking the people who report so many MB problems on the boards were kind of nuts), to having some borderline annoying ones the last two trips.

As always, YMMV!
