Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

That's kinda weird -- Boardwalk has a DVC Community Hall (a little building by the pool), but it does not have a snack bar. So do you think this is referring to that building?
That’s why I find it so interesting!! I wonder if that means they’re adding one?! We spend a lot of time in there, so I think it would be great! Just wondering where would it go?

I don't think it is really for new work but just Mechanical work at Community Hall. The NOC does not mention anything about a "Guest Snack bar" it is more likely HVAC or Plumbing work unless someone at WDWMagic has some true inside knowledge.

I agree - that building is as old as the resort, almost 30 years, so I would think things are needing to be replaced and updated. The idea of a snack bar there is intriguing, though, because it would add a place for folks using the leisure pool there to get drinks and snacks without traipsing to the Luna Park area or elsewhere.

Screen Door General Store at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn Resort Undergoing Refurbishment Through May 2025

A retail store interior with wooden flooring, a central counter, shelves holding caps and toys, and a wall display of T-shirts. A chandelier hangs from the ceiling.

Upon entering the store, we noticed a white construction wall had been set up as refurbishment work continues.

A candy store interior with displays of sweets on shelves and tables. Large windows and glass door let in natural light.

One section of the store has completed renovations and now displays a more modern look with coastal green and blue colors with light wood flooring.

A well-lit store interior with wooden beams, ceiling fans, and patterned floor tiles. Shelves display colorful merchandise including shirts and plush toys. Counter with register on the left.

A white construction wall separated the newly refurbished store section from the continued work being done on the remaining part of the store. New tile flooring at the center of the store features a geometric pattern of white, green, blue, and tan colors.

Lighting appears warm and inviting.
Above is a comparison of the newly renovated flooring on the left compared to the older flooring and patterned carpet on the right. The ceiling design is also new with wood beams spanning across it and ceiling fans installed as well.

Guests have access to groceries in the renovated section of the store along with candy and confectionary treats at the counter.

Clothing, Minnie ear headbands, and other merchandise are also available.

Refurbishment work has not yet taken place at the other end of the store. The old theming is still intact with the wooden flooring, checkout counter, and lighting fixtures. White construction walls were also visible from this end of the store as the middle portion is being refurbished.

Since Disney stated the refurbishment would happen in phases with two sections of the store remaining open to guests, this section would be the next and final section to undergo refurbishment.

I like how the renovation came out, and maybe it's just me, but the new colors plus the new ceiling looks like the YC and BC had a baby :rotfl2:

I know the only quick service spot to refill resort mugs via self-service is the Boardwalk Deli, but does anyone have recent experience with Leaping Horse Libations providing refills?

We just came back from Boardwalk, we stayed at deluxe villa studio boardwalk view and absolutely loved it

We are planning to go again next year (my wife and kids are bugging me nonstop 😀), so I have a question.

We would rent points again at 11 month mark to increase our chances of getting the boardwalk view. However, I understand that is very hard to get, and sometimes you won't be able to get it even if you book exactly at 11 month mark.

My question is: how does Disney honor the room request? Is it based on time of booking, like they start full filling the requests for rooms booked very early and then move on? If I don't get a boardwalk view, I could settle for a garden/pool view facing the village green, so just wondering if I would have a high chance of getting Village green or if the requests are fulfilled totally random.

Thanks

It’s more points for a BW View so you’d know if it was available when the person you’re renting from makes the reservation. If you have a specific location for you room (like a room number or location as over the Screen Door or floor number)the person you’re renting from has to make that request for you. Facing the village green is considered a BW View because technically you can see the BW from those rooms.

Boardwalk view and garden/pool view has the same amount of points, that is why BW view is such in high demand.

Village green view is still considered garden/pool.view if I am not mistaken.

Just to get back to your original question on room request(s) since you view part is already covered since it is based on the View you book.

Requests are taken into consideration when your room is assigned to your reservation. This happens about 5-7 days before you visit. They have to see what rooms would be available that match your requests or even a subset of your requests. That is why you should prioritizes your requests 1 - 3. As always room requests are not guaranteed since they are only requests.

Just adding to the helpful info Dave has shared, when we rented DVC points last fall, we made sure to go to the desk at check-in. They had assigned us a room that was on the ground floor, but since we had requested a high floor, we were able to wait just a short time until one of those was finished being cleaned, and they were happy to reassign us. Always, of course, it's dependent upon availability, but we had good luck doing in-person check-in.

So it does not matter if your room was booked at 11 month mark or the month before check in? Thanks
