Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2025 Edition

Having flown into several different US cities both before and after they added light rail between the airport and downtown, light rail is MUCH more pleasant over cabs, shuttles, etc. This is probably a little less true for WDW, unless there is a more robust set of connections between DS and the other prime spots, but still.

From DS one can take the Disney buses to the resorts and parks. But I'm not sure any families wanting to do that with all their luggage
Exactly. But as Brian said, it is a much more pleasant mode of transport. It will never happen, but would it not be great if your luggage magically appeared in your room while you took a comfortable train ride to DS, shopped and ate lunch, and then took a bus, without luggage, to your hotel?

I had not thought of that, so if WDW really wants their guests to use the train, they will have to come up with a luggage solution!
It sounds like the train to DS would have limited appeal, unless families want to take it only to then have to take a rideshare from DS. Might as well just take either Mears or rideshare directly to their resort.

Agreed, without a luggage solution that is true. With a solution, we would have used it when we had young kids who loved trains and DS was always a 1st day/last day stop anyway.

I feel like if they are going to pursue it, they are going to put the infrastructure in place to handle that. The idea would be to get people to and from the Airport efficiently, right?

Personally, I think the train route was probably more for the Convention Center guests - and Disney decided it could cash in, and have those folks drop luggage at their hotel there, then get back on the train and travel to DS and possibly parks... a win for Disney. But I doubt they were thinking of Disney resort guests using the train from the airport... seems like it would be a huge time investment to go from the airport to DS, then still have to get a cab/Uber to get to their resort. Can't be a huge cost saving to do that... but who knows.

I think a huge amount of WDW folks would take the train to US as well, esp Epic.

Would the train go to the older UO parks? I thought it might only go to Epic, if all of this even happens.

Pretty sure just Epic, but it's buses from there to the old parks. Not having to drive 4 would be very helpful, much less those without cars.

Those coming to WDW have to bus to all 4 parks from DS, and even then through a resort bus- unless they change it.

Me and the fam have been saying this forever and can't wait to play after the refurb!

Big news day: Little Mermaid and Villains shows at HS are set to open 5/27.
I'm only one cup of coffee in this morning but Disney has trained me so well (that they take forever to get anything built and opened), I read this as May 2027 !

Then I read this and I'm like, wow, you can get park passes 2 years in advance?
Really glad I already booked our park passes for that day

Then I realized my mistake and made a second cup. Enjoy your laugh at my expense!!
