Disney IT could not fix Magic Band+ - now what?

Well, we tried the "fix" for magic band+ not connecting (does pair but won't connect), following the detailed instructions on a PlanDisney Q&A. Nothing worked, so I called the number provided in the Q&A. The cast member went through all the steps, nothing worked, and he escalated. He came back and said they had no solution and that I would need to visit guest services in the park to let them try to fix it. I really don't want to have to spend time in the guest services line, so is there any way to get my money back for this non-working band (which we bought on WDW website in relation to a resort stay)? Thanks for any help.
ETA: Called Disney, and they said to call Merchandise Guest Services. I was told that they would provide options, including refund. I guess I will find out next week.

Was restarting your phone one of the steps? I only ask because mine wouldn't connect until I did that for whatever reason.
Yes, as well as deleting and reinstalling the app, among other steps. I believe that I will either be able to get a new one (concerned about receiving in time if shipped to home - maybe have sent to hotel) or even getting a refund per IT person I spoke with. I have to call merchandise guest services Monday if they are working then or maybe not until Tuesday. Thanks for the tip, though.

Oh goodness! I just got our two MB+'s and was cursing like a sailor the other day before I gave up. I'm not a techie, but watched the videos and just couldn't seem to make it work. It now looks like someone (maybe me) has the band, but it won't show up on my account. I reset it completely and started over but it still doesn't seem to work.

I haven't tried DH's yet. I'm planning to bring or even link up two old bands to use. I agree, spending any more time on those stupid bands is ridiculous...

I may have to call in and see if they can fix it, otherwise they can have them back. Good luck!

Just saw this video. I had issues with MDE on my old phone (door won’t open, mobile order issues, credit card info not saved). Once I switched to IPhone 13 pro, I’ve had considerably less issues, although credit card info only appears in the app and not on the webpage.

I use the app while in the parks to mobile check in or for ADR changes anyway; when my ADR window opens I save credit card info (non Disney) on an iPad to auto populate (on the webpage I have to manually enter). IT never fixed this issue (they can see a have a Disney Visa card on my profile) and it started when they moved my data from one account to another (to clear history) and then back again.

Have you setup your mobile tickets with magic mobile? I’m thinking this might be needed to be able to assign the band to each ticket holder; maybe these conflict with the MB+?

I also found this link to fix bluetooth issues:

Thanks - hope you have better luck if you decide to call. I am probably at the point of just asking for refund and using one of my older bands. I checked and have one that I bought in 2021, so hopefully it will still work.

Thanks. Everything automatically shows for us in MDE (bands, tickets, etc). We've never had problems. We tried the Kenny site first before going to look for something on PlanDisney. The Disney Q&A actually had a few more steps. My husband's band worked from the start, but mine would not connect (even though it is paired and shows in MDE.) It did some glitchy things and just would not connect despite all the things tried. I am just going to ask for refund at this point. I feel like I have spent too much time trying to get it to work.

It sounds like an issue with the band itself. Maybe it’s damaged. I hope it all works out.

Do post back if you find a solution as I foresee most of us having to deal with similar issues. I found the following discussion (incl. MB2) and some of it seems relevant (only person managing account can link?):

The MB+ pairing issue has been going on for a while now:

https://wdwnt.com/2022/07/magicband-bluetooth-pairing-issues-persist-as-launch-day-nears/

The comments have some helpful hints: factory reset by holding down the power button for 15 seconds; only linking one MB+ per device (would be ridiculous with multiple kids who don’t have phones)

Here is a thread dedicated to issues with MB+, although no solutions yet (Don’t click ‘forget device’):

Thanks for the link, and I will follow up with the resolution.

Thanks for link. I will go through it before calling merchandise guest services.

Magic Bands never stop working for any touch point operations.
Scanning in to park access, Genie, Purchases, etc
The only thing that they may not work for is long range scanning such as ride photos for rides that don't have touch points like Guardians

Disney offered to ship new MB+ to home (I did not think it would make it in time), to ship to resort (CM asked another dept. when it would arrive at resort and was told "usually a day or two before arrival date - we both laughed at the "usually" part), or to refund. I went with refund, and the CM also issued a $15 ShopDisney discount code. I am fine with that and will just use one of my existing bands. Good luck to everyone - hope your bands work as intended.

I ordered from shopdisney and it showed up in about ten days. Spent much of last night trying to pair it with Android phone...got a lot of buzzing and beeping out of it, but MDE never recognized it. The box itself said something about "No refunds or exchanges, ever, don't bother asking" which was rather disappointing. My trip is over a month away so I will try whatever proposed solutions I can locate on the web. As noted above, this product doesn't exactly do wonders for company goodwill. I have been going to Disney parks since 1970 but am rapidly approaching enough-is-enough mindset. Maybe I'll just wait for Epic Universe and go there from now on.

There is a question about Magic Band+ issues in the Plan Disney Q&A on the WDW website. If you try those instructions but still cannot get the band to work, I would then call the phone number provided in that Q&A for magic band help. If that group cannot fix the problem, they should refer you to merchandise guest services, which refunded my money and provided a $15 code for use on Shop Disney. Yes, you do have to jump through some Disney hoops, but it was worth it for me to get the refund. Good luck!

Apparently our MB+'s are all set up per Disney IT. We still plan to bring the two bands we used in in May just in case.

I'm glad you got your refund. :badpc:

Thank you, I found the Plan Disney Q&A but there's something like 55,000 questions there. Is there an easy way to find the one you referenced?
