Does anyone know if the 10% off $50+ discount that is offered to Disney Credit/Debit card holders is applicable to the gifts shops on the DCL ships? I know it's good at most gift shops in the WDW parks; however, I don't see any comments about DCL. Wondering if anyone has ever tried or asked?

No, it is not applicable on the ships...at least not in May. Generally the WDW specials are not duplicated on the ships.

From the downloadable pdf at disneyrewards.com:
10% Off Select Merchandise3
Perk: Receive 10% off on select merchandise purchases of $50 or more at select locations at Walt Disney World® Resort
When: Anytime during normal Theme Park hours
Where to go: Your discount is available at select Walt Disney World® Resort owned and operated locations throughout the resort
What to do: Use your valid Disney’s Visa Card and/or Disney Rewards® Redemption Card and mention this offer
Why: Give your family extra treats on vacation while enjoying great savings

DCL shops are not WDW Resort Owned and Operated locations.

The only DCL perk for the Disney Rewards Visa is:
Receive a $50 onboard credit when you pay for your Disney Cruise Line® vacation in full with your Disney's Visa Card and mention this offer.
Fine print says for sailings through 12/31/2012.

Thanks for all the responses! Just wanted to double check and make sure. Still a great deal and still thinking of getting a Disney card before our next trip.

Dumb question but would this $50 be in addition to any onboard booking credit?

No. Fine print from DisneyRewards.com:
Must use your valid Disney's Visa Credit Card to book a Disney Cruise Line® vacation for sailings through 12/31/2012 to receive a $50 onboard credit good towards merchandise, spa treatments, shore excursions and other onboard activities. Call 1-800-257-2024 or your travel agent to book a Disney Cruise Line® vacation and ask for booking code DCC. Offer must be requested at time of booking for new bookings only. The onboard credit is per stateroom for each stateroom paid in full with your Disney's Visa Credit Card. Offer is valid for up to two staterooms. Any unused portions are non-refundable and non-transferable. Cannot be combined with any other offers or discounts. Offer subject to change or cancellation without notice. Ships' Registry: The Bahamas. Chase is not responsible or liable for fulfillment of this offer.

I'm sorry... Unless you meant that any other DisneyRewards OBC cannot be combined with that $50 that information is not correct. I have a reservation through a TA and will be receiving $350 from them as an OBC and the $50 from DisneyRewards for using the credit card. So, technically, the $50 can be combined with another OBC.

The Disney Visa OBC can't be combined with any other OBC offered from DCL. You are able to combine it with OBC from a TA.

How about Disney Rewards you get from your Visa? Can those be used on the ship? Like maybe for an alcoholic drink?

You can apply any amount from your Disney Rewards card to your on board account. You go to Guest Services to do this.

I have a generic Visa gift card so can I use that on the cruise? I just want to make sure I have all my money planned out

We used one on our cruise last week. You just need to know how much is in the gift card and just go to GS and ask them to apply it to your room.

We used our Disney Visa to book and pay for the whole cruise. (Wonder, Sep. 10th, 2012 - 6 days to go!) and got the $50 credit and combined it with the DU OBC.

To redeem the Disney Visa reward dollars, you need to call Disney Visa and they'll send you a card, which you need to activate with the dollars that you have available. (We've done this part before. Remember to give yourself time to get the card in the mail and activate it)

We haven't used the reward dollars card onboard, but we've been told to take the card to Guest Services on day 1 and ask them to charge against the card first to cover any expenses before switching to the credit card on file.

We also had 2 reward dollars cards to use. We had ours applied a few days into the cruise.
