Sounds like a wonderful trip, smilie. Maybe being away will help your DH focus better.

smiley - Sounds like a great trip and just what you both need. Take your time and enjoy yourselves.

Patsmom - That year certainly went by quickly, didn't it?

MaryAnn - Hope you get some news soon.

Pea-n-me - Sorry you are having liner problems. Those types of pools were popular when we built ours, but I insisted on spending the extra $$ for a gunite pool way back when we did ours. Am really glad, too as we've only had to resurface it once in 24 years. Hope you get it fixed soon so you can enjoy the weather.

Laurie - Any beach trip is a good trip!

Looks like I will be making a quick trip to the Mouse House Wednesday and Thursday. One of my best friends from high school is in Florida with her daughter. DS and I are going to meet them (and Meg) at DHS early Wednesday and spend the day with them. DD, DS and I are going to spend the night at Caribbean Beach and then spend Thursday morning at MK before heading home. I'm pretty sure I can handle it so long as I stay out of the sun. I plan on getting a guest with disabilities pass and go from there.

I'm really surprised that the Gemzar is effecting so much less than all of the other chemo drugs I have had in the past two years. I'm very thankful!

Lisa I'm so happy for you having a break from the harsh chemo. I know how that feels, and even though it is still not easy, it is nothing like before! So happy you get to take a trip to the mouse too! and jealous you are so much closer!! How is your hair situation? mine started growing back on the paclitaxel, and is about 1/2 an inch long, but it has come in very fine and absolutley snowy white!! hubby says platinum blonde bless his heart :lmao: I have my nice wig, but it is hot now in the summer, and I plan on going with just my own and hoping I don't get too many looks. I too will be trying to stay out of the sun, and I was thinking about the pass, but people keep telling me how good I look ( :lmao: :confused3 ) and I worry I will also get the looks from people who think there is nothing wrong with me (except for a really bad hairdo)
Patsmom.... a whole year! For me it's been 8 months since I got my dreaded phone call. Seems like just yesterday, but also like forever!

Smiley - I'm still sporting the wig. My hair is barely there and mostly white on the sides with dark grey on the top. Although the wig is hot, I'm still not comfortable enough to go without it yet. I'm hoping it will be long enough in about two months because I'm really tired of the wig in this heat.

Hi Everyone,

Wow so much to catch up on! Such good news from everyone Smiley on your trip and hair growing back! Lisa your upcoming trip and not as bad chemo!!! Both of you can Rock whatever style you chose! Wig or no Wig. When my hair fell out. I wore the heck out of scarfs and hats. Rock your style ladies!!!

Pats mom so good to hear from you. And congratulations on your 1 year anniversary! Glad everything is doing its job.

LMP- Glad you had a great sono and first day of bible school!! Any updates on Alyssa?

Mickey- Such great news that you have turned your life around and no doubt you have made your Mom proud.

Snappy-Hope you get your travelin in. Sounds like a good trip.

We do our annual kids and mom trip to a amusement park here in pennsylvania. We all get together and bring a main dish, drink and snack and we get a picnic grove. It is so much fun. We all divide the kids up into groups and we take groups. We went to the wave pool on Sunday. So i am exhausted!

Sha-How's your Bo? Keep smiling.

Good afternoon ladies

Lisa - I hope you have a wonderful trip! Any trip to the world is good, even if its a short one. It will be so nice for you to see your friend too!

Smiley - I agree with Candy about rockin your style! Dont worry about what others may think, just be you and comfortable.

Candy - you are refreshing! I think you are one of those ladies who always sees the glass half full. My dh says I always see it half empty and he says he sees it half full. So I guess between us, we have a full glass!

PatsMom - Happy One Year Cancerversary tomm!! That is huge!

Cheryl - hope you are getting stronger and enjoying your break.

Well today is suppose to be a balmy 93 to 96 with showers later. I dont want to look at our real temp inside. I might get depressed. I was cranky and crying yest. The heat is getting to all of us. We went out to dinner and saw folks we knew. My voice was not the greatest today at vbs either. I did have a bottle of vitamin water.

Today is my sisters birthday I never do well on this day. We always go out anyway. Ds wanted to swim in a friends pool a few blocks away, they are only renting the house but their ac broke too. So there who family is already in the pool, so no room for more right now. Well the miracle is around the corner. Dshsaid the guy has the compressor and will be here friday 8 am to install it.

GTAGWTA.

Hi Ladies! GAGWTA!!! and then some!

Been off of here a few days and look at all the news. I had a small issue with my mom. Had her in the hospital. She is home now and not 100% sure if she did or didnt have a TIA but definitely not a stroke. And she waited 3 hours to say that something didnt feel right. Can you tell what I need to work on with her??? :lmao: Luckily all is well, but she does have some follow up appts to do and we will go from there. My sister will come and stay with her while I am away at the end of the month. R. was attentive until his phone died which was really sweet of him. I only really stressed when trying to get mom to the hospital and she wasnt moving fast... "can I take a shower first?" um NO! LOL

R. is also kind of to the rescue again at the moment. I just asked him for some help with the logo for the team. I drew it out on vacation, but couldn't find anyone to help design it yet. If he can't then I will try the DISigners.

:cloud9::lovestruc I am still smiling Candy! Can hardly wait for that weekend to get here and then I would like time to stand still.

Laurie... Have you been to Destin? I ask because I have learned that is about half way for both of us :goodvibes:goodvibes I can be a bit picky and wonder if there is a nice place (clean and nice like moderates or better... or like DVC). I will run the idea past him while we are together.

Lisa I am so glad to hear that you are tolerating the new chemo so much better. Hope it kicks butt! Enjoy your trip! One day we will meet back up there again.

Maryann I am sorry about the lack of ac but having to wait until Friday when they have the part! Please stay hydrated.

Smiley enjoy your trip. I have a friend who lives in Gilroy. Would love to go back to DL and see it again. Not alone though. I did meet up with some friends, but most of it I was alone. The magic was there when I arrived though. My friend Jen (who had died a few months earlier) was definitely there. HUGE Godwink!

Patsmom that is a huge win! Happy Cancerversary!

All you ladies rock! Love to you all!!!!

Oh my, I just love this thread.

Away for a few hours and I just love coming back to see what everybody posts.

Y'all are wonderful.

Congrats, Patsmom. Each anniversary or cancerversary is special, especially the first and the fifth.

Lisa, I am just as jealous as Smilie. I am glad you are feeling up to taking a trip. I am glad the new drug is easier on you. How wonderful to get to see a friend from high school.

I know how much I enjoyed my high school reunion in June. And I had seen a number of them at the 30th!

Candy, your family get together sounds wonderful. Hope the weather is good for all of you. I am not too great at water parks, particularly wave pools. I guess I am not a good enough swimmer. Need lessons from Lisa!!!

Have fun though. Great place to get together. Sounds like you have a big family and either they are nearby or willing to travel!

Smilie, I hope you are comfortable with or without the wig. I understand how you feel, though. For what you have been through with everything, I think you are doing amazingly well.

MaryAnn, glad you enjoyed day one of VBS, despite the heat. Hope day two was good as well. Hey, now that sonogram is behind you, on to Disney is December, if not October too! Have you booked all your meals for December yet? You are very organized with your trip planning. I need to hire you.

I booked a trip today actually for Mardi Gras 2012 (Mardi Gras day itself is Feb 21st I think), at the boardwalk. I was also able to book a second day at OKW for My October 2011 trip which I was glad about. After 2 days at OKW I think I am going to head to the Hilton bonnet creek or maybe the Waldorf. I will see what is in the budget. And I am pondering a trip in May 2012 when I really like to be in WDW, it is my special time there, just before Memorial day. I think I have enough DVC points for 6 nights in a boardwalk view in a 2 bedroom which is indeed my favorite spot. Now I have to talk the family into going and get specific on the days. Not sure when DD15's exams are so I have to do my research. High school goes later into May than college, and the exam dates are not on the website calendar yet.

Sha, I am sorry Mom has been sick. I am glad you got her to the hospital quick. It must really pay to have a daughter as a nurse.

Glad that R. is there for you, I just have to meet this guy.

Gosh, you are coming this weekend???? I really expect at least a call now you hear?

Destin is very nice. My best friend Cindy who lives still in New Orleans and her ex, another couple and DH and I used to vacation together every Memorial Day somewhere along the gulf coast in the panhandle area from Pensacola all the way to Panama City Beach before we started our families about 23 or so years ago. I think Destin has one of the nicest beaches, but they are all very good. Recently I have stayed with my sister, her husband, and my mom at my sister's time share in Sandestin several times which is a specific area in Destin that has a number of condos and hotels. There are good restaurants there, and even a very nice, quaint little "village" in Sandestin. Good live music too, which really adds to the fun for my sister and myself both.

I can't really recommend a specific hotel since recently I have stayed at my sister's time share. If you google Sandestin you should find some good places.

Call me sometime, Sha. You still have my cell?

DH and I had a little spat last night about an issue with one of the offspring. I treated myself to a shopping trip to Whole Foods AND Gap, bought myself a six pack of my favorite beer and some fresh flowers to cheer myself up. DH came home with a huge beautiful dark pink/purple orchid to make amends. Although I have enjoyed the orchids at the Beach Club and of course the Waldorf in Orlando (and have many, many pictures of those as well), I have never owned one.

I am feeling kinda "lucky" tonight, on many levels.

Love y'all.

GAGWTA!!

I hope to call while I am there... but it says "that weekend". Still over 2 weeks to go.... tick tock tick tock

thanks for the info... now back to bed.

Good afternoon ladies

Beth - welcome. It was so amazing to see the ladies here connection with you through your mom. Love never fades and I too find that faith is so important.Blessings to you

smiley - Glad your dd has found her soulmate and hoping your other dd and dh work things out. So glad you got to spend time with your grandkids. I am sure the travelling for the radiation will be hard. Does the ferry have a reservation system. I actuallY Read that the vancouver hotels should have good deals since they built 6 of them for the winter olympics

Lisa - hope the chemo was not too bad for you. Hang int here sista.

Well its hot as blazes here. The compressor blew on the ac unit. So the guy has to order a new compressor and install it. It will be in next firiday and its so expensive. Almost third of a new system., but dh wants to do it this way since he is leaving for china on friday. Tomm. blood tests, monday sono and teaching all week.

GTAGWTA. Thinking of you all always.

sorry I missed this! The ferry does have a reservation system, $15. each way, so that alone would cost us $600. for the month! on top of gas, meals, etc. it's going to be an expensive month. The government covers the ferry for medical appointments, or that would be another $56. every day!! The cheapest you can get a half way decent room for the night is about $150. It's a very expensive city to do anything in. It's part of the reason we always end up heading down into the US for our holidays. Gas is far cheaper, and so are hotels and food. And yes it's beautiful here in summer, but in winter it's non stop rain and grey skies broken up by the odd snow day. Thats when we really like to try and get out of here....November is the worst.

Good aftrnoon ladies

smiley - your trip sounds wondTTful and probably just what you need right now. Our ds loved the Monterrey Bay Aquarium. They told me all about it and dh driving down the PCH. I smiled when you said you want to go down Lombard Street. I think dh did it for the ds too. They also wanted to ride a cable car until they saw one crash into another! I bet your trip to Disneyland will be perfect too! Do you have any favorite restraunts there. Do they have an adr system too? Cant wait to hear about your wonderful adventure!!

Cheryl and Lisa - thinking of you both

Laurie - you are sure the traveling woman this summer!

Candy - how is your dd's camp experience going?

PatsMOM - Hope you are enjoyin your summer too.

Well the first day of vbs was fun. We have 16 kids and 2 ceiling fans and a nice ac unit that is not very functional. It was a balmy 83 degrees in the classroom. Hmm, feels like home. I guess because its 83 i my house too:laughing:

Ds took me for the sono. Oh yes, now I remember why I hate the hosp. Had to walk forever. The tech was really sweet at least and did a much better, higher on my neck and thorough job. She even talked to me. She is having a girl. My reg. girl at the other place is so unfriendly. On the way out I saw my stomach surgeon. I said hi but my voice was bad so I dont think he heard me. He had surgical scrubs on, a backpack and was carrying an edible arrangement, funny and strange. He is looking so grey, but he is only 50. I think he is sticking around there unless they get rid of him. I hate changing doctors. They didnt ask for more sono pictures so I guess that is a good sign. I left 2 messages about the blood test they might have ommitted. No one has called me back yet.

GTAGWTA. Thinking of you all.

I watched a show last night for the first time, I think it was called The Big C about a woman with cancer and her fight. It is a comedy drama so funny but serious. She could not get a call back for an appointment from a new doctor so dressed up like a drug rep and sailed on in there to try and see the doctor. it was pretty funny, but I hate waiting for call backs. I'm happy to say at this point in time I have been very lucky with the doctors I have seen. But I have begun in life to hope for the best but expect the worst, to not be disapointed.
They do have a reservation system, but generally it's only needed at extremely busy times like Christmas etc. it's apparently no where as busy as WDW. I will make 2 resies anyway, for the Blue BAyou, and for the World of Color dinner at Ariels Grotto.
right now I'm waiting to head up to hospital for chemo, fighting off depression cause I have another load added to my already full plate and am wondering just how far I am expected to bend without breaking because it is literally a straw away. I sure wish my mom was still alive to talk to. sometimes I feel like there is no one left on the planet I can talke to about some things. that is a lonely feeling. Hope everyone has a good day! :)

Smiley-:hug: It can get tough. I know I felt at times like I had the weight of the world and all the strength I had was a fingers worth. If you are comfortable enough....we are here for you to talk to. Don't feel alone. You have your Dis Family here! :grouphug: Your Dis Sister (We can sing the Pointer Sister's song)! No but seriously. We are here for each other. Take one thing/event/problem/weight at a time. Let yourself rest and don't push yourself too hard. Say a prayer and take a deep breath.

Sha- It's funny how time is. When you want it to go fast and it goes slow and you want it to go slow..it flies. I am so glad that your Mom is ok. Hopefully they can see what might have caused it. Did they have any idea?

Snappy-You have a lot of great trips planned!!! Do you ever do trip reports? Sounds like you will have lots of fun. The majority of my Fam lives around the park so we meet there and have fun. We divide the kids into Kiddie land Kids, Medium new riders and the thrill seekers. It's fun when one of the Mediums gets big enough for the thrill rides. It's like an initiation!

Lisa- Can't wait to hear about your trip!!!

LMP- I think I became that way when I got cancer. I always try to look for hope until I can't find it anywhere. Some say it sets you up for fails but I say it gives me something to strive for. Thank you for the compliment. You are always encouraging on these boards to me. I hope your AC gets fixed on Friday so you can be cooool! :cool1: Sorry you had a rough day yesterday. Hope your spirits are up today!

Patsmom-How are you feeling?

Jacks-Where have you been? I just got caught up on your trip report!

Good afternoon ladies

Laurie - Sounds like your dh made amends in a good way. Glad all is straightened out. So why is May your special time too? I like it then because of the weather, our anniv. and my b day and of course the lower hotel rates etc. And yes I made all the adrs, all except the cp package which I want at Tutto. So far we have Coral Reef, Rose and Crown, Cape May Buffet,Citricos,Grand Floridian Cafe (Couldnt talk dh into the tea), just lunch, Hollywood Brown Derby (you got us hooked there!), Chefs de France, and Yachtsman. I hope I dont have to change anything.

Candy - your family get togethers sound like so much fun! I wish dh and I were close to our cousins but unfortunately we are not. I feel bad for our ds and they have no cousins etc.

smiley - I am sorry you have so much on your shoulders. I know someone told me once, if you are feeling down, the best thing to do is look up to God. I miss my mom too. I wish someone would be there for me too. Her best friend talks to me on the phone alot. She is very encouraging. I wish I could see here sometime. She is in her 70's and almost blind. I am sure the trip will be hard on you, but so worth it in the end.

Lisa - hope your trip is wonderful

PatsMom - are you doing anything special today?

Cheryl - thinking of you sista

Linda - saw your :) pool thread

Sha - So sorry to hear about your moms health problems. I hope the testing can get to the bottom of it. She is sure blessed to have you there for her and its so wonderful that you are a nurse too. I think you also need an R countdown ticker, because the best things are the ones worth waiting for:)

Alyssa is not doing well her mom said. I dont understand, maybe its the other brain tumor symptoms, so say a prayer for her.

Saw Honu Girl (Lisa) post on another thread that her dad now has cancer and she is undergoing testing for possible cancer? too. I sent her a pm but havent heard back, so pray for them too.

It was unbearable yest. We broke the temp. record here. Today is so much nicer and bearable for sure. So tonights sleeping should be so much better.

The endo called me yest. They ordered that additional blood tests. She said she wanted a sono done. I told her, you ordered it and I had it?? Boy I am very concerned about her forgetfulness. first the blood test and now the sono??. But..she gave me GREAT news! She said my blood levels were so good that she wants to lower my synthroid. I dont know how much, so no more being hyper etc. Dh is so happy. But I do want to ask her how this will affect the cancer if it is so agrgessive etc. That is for Mondays visit to ask.

GTAGWTA.

Sorry Sha, I misread your post the other night. I guess I was in shock receiving the beautiful orchid. I need to take a picture of it before I kill it. funny thing was, I had also bought myself a huge bouquet of flowers at Whole Foods that same night (well, it was on sale, lol).

I guess I am subconsciously over anxious about you getting to B.R., even though I won't see you. When you come later for a longer trip, maybe I can cook y'all dinner?

MaryAnn, it is funny we both like May, huh? I happened on May as a good month in 2002, when we went rented a 4 bedroom pool home from a European couple. It was very fun, the kids were young, and it was DD15's first trip at age 6.

Good memories.

Afterwards, May seemed good, not as hot as later (once we tried late July/ early August and when it wasn't boiling hot, it was storming).

Also, schools tend to get out for the summer here earlier than most places so the parks seemed less crowded.

I also like the Flower and Garden festival very much although this year it seemed to end earlier, before I arrived for my May trip, but I did see a lot of it back in March during my Mardi Gras trip.

The main thing is I used to make travel plans when all three kids could join us. That is changing now as they are older, the college ones have other trips planned or job schedules. Now in high school, DD15 has a whole week off for Mardi Gras, where she only had 2 days off in grammer school. Mardi Gras moves all over the calendar from early February to early March so those dates are loosy goosy.

I really like having at least one kid with us, DD15 has had a friend 4 different trips, and DD21 on 2 trips. They have more fun that way, and we have some very fun meals.

We don't have birthdays, although that first May in 2002, since we were there so long, we did get to celebrate DD21's birthday on June 6th.

Another good memory.

Glad you booked Brown Derby again. That restaurant will forever be on my short list, if only for that crabcake appetizer. Even from Louisiana where we have plentiful crabs, the crab cakes at many restaurants are ho-hum. That appetizer was anything but ho-hum.

Hello to every one else-gotta go to work. GAGWTA!!

Good afternoon ladies

Hope you all are enjoying a nice:sunny:day

smiley - I have heard of that show that have not seen it. That story line sounds so funny about the way to see the doctor. I agree with you, I always hope for the best but am prepared for the worst. I just want to be real with everything. I told my dh sometimes he is way too positive and I feel like I need to be more into the reality of everything and the future etc.

The weather here is wonderful today. Enjoyable and cool etc. Everyone is happy. Even the kids at vbs liked the weather. Tomm. is the last day. I am making them little candy bags tonight. Dh leaves tomm. He wont be back until next sat. and then that monday he is heading to NJ for the court case on his dads property with his one cousin. Its jointly owned with his uncles property too. There is another cousin but I dont think they can make it. I dont know if I will go with him. Then he told me the next trip to China will be around August 19th. I am so, so tired of all of this. The only good thing is that maybe I can get him to use the miles for Disney. My endo visit is Monday.

GTAGWTA. Have a great day everyone. Blessings to all.

MaryAnn - Happy to hear you are having good weather. It is sweltering here because of the humidity.

smiley - I have watched "The Big C" since it premiered last year. I like it because it has a lot of humor mixed in with the drama. Besides, Laura Linney is my favorite actress. I find that if you can laugh at some of this, it makes it much easier to take. I can relate to your feelings about the last straw. . .

Laurie - I like all of your travel plans! Wish I could meet up with you on your next WDW trip, but we are going to be there in September. Meg and I are going to the annual pin celebration the 8th - 11th.

Candy - Which park did you go to in Pennsylvania? I plan on going to Dorney Park someday when I go on my roller coaster tour.

Well, I survived the two day WDW trip in this heat. Had a great time with my friend and the kids. We didn't overdo it and the parks were less crowded than I expected. I even let Meg talk me into Rock n Rollercoaster and I didn't have a 'hair malfunction', thankfully. Having the Guest Assistance Card made the trip much easier. I highly recommend it to anyone who is still in treatment when they are at the parks.

I saw the surgeon this morning and he said everything is fine, so that's one doctor I can cross off the list. I went to the ocologist's for my labs, too. Not good news. She decided not to give me the Neulasta shot after my first chemo because she wanted to see what my levels would be with the new drug. My WBC was lower than it's ever been, so I have to have four Neupogen shots in the next five days so my counts will be up in time for chemo next Friday. I feel great even though the counts are down. I can't go in the pool for a few days - that annoys me.

I'm going to rest for a few days. Have a great weekend everyone!:goodvibes

Good evening ladies

Lisa - I am so glad you had such a wonderful trip. Wow, you are brave to go on RRC. I dont do coasters. Sorry that your counts are down. Hope the shots bring them up in time. I guess you can stay in the cool ac and have a cool drink and relax. Did you eat anywhere special? Are you and Meg both into pin trading. That is something I never did. I think I have one pin and its in a frame we got with a package once with the donald print. Its in the garage in a box. What is your favorite or most valuable pin? Hmm, do they have a Mary Poppins Pin?

Cheryl,Smiley and PatsMom - thinking of you all with treatments, testing and resting.

Linda - We know, you are in the pool:)

Candy - what is your dds next camp adventure?

Laurie - how was your dds trip to NY? Did she like the fireworks?

Well VBS is over. I can rest now. And the ac is fixed!! Yippee!! So officially I am now once against the :cool1: coolest sista on the thread here:rotfl2: (see my tag for those who havent been around for a while) My ac broke once before too and we were sweltering. This only has a 1 year guarantee. I have barely seen dh. Instead of doing what he was suppose to, he did his work so I did yelll at him because he was suppose to call the lawyer about the property case for when he comes back.

I won a $100 gift certificate to a sports store. I told ds21 to get sneakers and clothes. He didnt like anything there and bought a new fishing pole. I was none too happy. I also won an audiobook, hmm I need to win a disney trip:)

I think I am definetly less stressed without the overheating issues for sure and adding in the vbs teaching is over. It was so much fun. I loved the kids. I dont know how regular teachers do it every day though. I would be exhausted. Endo visit on Monday. Now I will look into the mamo which will be in august and that eye specialist. I dont want to overwhelm myself. And if she changes my med I will need more blood tests, dont know the time frame for that one.

GTAGWTA. Have a great week end everyone.

Good afternoon ladies

Quiet but sunny here and so cool inside!!

Lisa - do you like CBR? My one ds stayed there on his class trip. He said it was fine for him but he said I would not like it as it is too spread out and would be too much walking for me etc.

I am being lazy today for sure. I am trying to do all my e mail catch up and keeping up with friends and relatives. I only did 2 e mails so far and I am tired. One was to my bff in Texas and 1 was to my cousin in NJ. His dd is having a baby boy on wed. and I told him he better send me a pic as he is leaving the next day to visit his mom for a month in Maine.

GTAGWTA. Enjoy your day everyone!! Blessings to you all.

Got recruited to chaperone a high school youth group mission trip about an hour away at the last minute. Dd15 is involved. Could not refuse. The kids will be scraping and painting when not in prayer.

Not sure how I will do sleeping on the floor not in a bed. Next time I will invest in best inflatable bed on the market, if there is a next time.

Glad you got your a/c back, Maryann. Glad things settled down a bit for you. I stayed with Dd15 at VN a few years back in Jan. I liked it fine, but I agree there is a lot if walking. DD15 liked the hammocks on the beach a lot. Are you still contemplating a trip for the race on October?

Lisa, I am sorry your numbers are so low. Hopefully the shots will work quickly and you can get in that pool.

Talk to you after my days at this mission trip is over.
