Well, if you can't tell, I don't fly much! Anyway, how do I find out what I get for FF miles? I know I'll have to have quite a few, but I can't seem to locate this on their website. Do I get % off tix? If so, how much do I need to accumulate? I'm confused!

near the top of the Delta Home Page at www.delta.com. Then click on Membership & Program Guidelines in the list on the left of the screen.

If you have your Skymiles number, you can enroll and get a password which will allow you to check your balance on-line.

Free coach tickets are 25,000 miles (continental U.S.) I don't think you can use miles to get a discount on any fare.

Good Luck!

After following the sequence outlined above, click on 'Redemption Opportunities' , this will list the ways you can redeem your miles and how many miles are required.

Some things you can use your miles for:

- Upgrades to first class.
-Free RT tickets (Generally is 25,000 miles for continental US)
-Delta miles can also be redeemed for United Airlines tickets, and Delta miles can be earned on United Flights.
-You can bid on vacation packages using miles on the Delta website.

since DL is also one of the carriers that puts a time limit on miles(they expire after a certain amount of time) you can also get magazine subscriptions for them as well. and there is also a sight ont he internet to use your miles for a percentage off purchasing items. its not that great a deal but if you have miles expireing and you want some of this stuff then it works out.

Thank for all the links and info. I swear. I searched and searched until I said "hey, someone ALWAYS knows on the DIS forums.

Thanks Again!

I have another question. Can I purchase my Dh's and a fellow employees business flight on my Skyline Miles acct w/o flying with them? They are flying down the day before my DD and I are.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I'm purchasing in a few hours.

Unless things have changed recently, everyone had to have their own skymiles acct to purchase tickets online at Delta.com. However, if it is the first time purchasing at Delta.com you'll get a 4000 mile bonus per person.

You can also accumulate skymiles through Clickrewards.com. I use them to buy books through Barnes and Noble (www.bn.com). For each $1 you spend on books, you get 1 skymile.

chuck: Thanks again for answering another one of my questions! Can accts be combined or FF miles given to someone else? If we don't combine them, we probably never get to use them. At least I know I can donate them to "Make a Wish" if I want.

Tink, I don't know if skymiles can be transferred between accounts. I do know that as long as there is some account activity every three years they do not expire, which gives me lots of time to accumulate them. After 5 years I'm almost to 40,000 miles and I think that is enough for a 1st class round trip...I hope.

Chuck: Congrats on the 40,000 miles! I would think you're getting close to the free stuff!!

So, if I understand this, if everyone is traveling with me and I reserve the tickets, the credit will go to my acct. If DH is traveling w/o me, he needs his own acct. Correct?

Tink,

Everyone in your party (including DD) will need their own skymiles acct, and the miles will be credited to each of their accts. Accounts are free, and you can sign up easily at the Delta.com website. Get the accounts before booking the flights so you can enter their skymiles number when you purchase. Find out if your co-worker already has a skymiles number, so the miles will be credited to his existing account.

As far as the actual purchase, it can all be billed out to one credit card, but since there are two different travel dates involved there will be two billings.

For detailed answers you can contact skymiles via e-mail or phone once you have the skymiles numbers.

I just remembered, actually each ticket shows up as a separate credit card transaction.

Chuck: Thanks for your advice. I purchased the tickets this AM. I had two different purchases since my DH is flying down a day sooner. What I don't understand is why the seating assignments still show available although I have chosen them. Do you know why?

Tink, did you purchase directly from Delta.com? If not, maybe the seat assignment just hasn't posted yet. If you did purchase directly from Delta.com does your confirmation e-mail show your seating assignment? You may want to call Delta Reservations just to be sure. Just give them your confirmation numbers and they can pull up your records. Also, if you're flying Delta Express vs. regular Delta, maybe they do things a little differently. It wouldn't hurt to call and confirm.

Chuck,
I am using my Delta Skymiles to go to JAMAICA----------No problem, mon!! :)

Chuck: I'm so stupid. I was looking at the flight segment that my DH ISN'T on! Big dahhh. I was so nervous making the ressies on the website. I was in such a hurry because my dog had a vet appt. I almost forgot to pick the seats for the flight back.

I'm also reserving a limo ride for my DD and I to the airport here. She is going to be soooo surprised. We haven't told her we're going yet. I just purchased her a Snow White costume and the MNSSHP tickets. When they arrive, we're going to give it all to her. I'm not telling about the limo yet ;)
