Deepest ONsite pools

My family loves a pool with a deep end and we've enjoyed the Polynesian's East pool for this very reason. I have some concerns about them redoing the pool and have no idea if they will keep the deep end. So I'd like to know which onsite resort pools have deep ends (preferably 7 feet or more but anything more than 5 feet is good too).

So a question to all you resort experts - which onsite resort pools have deep ends (can be a main pool or other pool)? And do you know the actual depth?

Thanks!

BC/YC ..There is a small section of Storm along Bay that is 8ft, it has a current like a lazy river..you can rent tubes to use on it but it is not all that large and a Pain in the rear

The leisure pool at the Contemporary Resort right near the lake (with the bullseye in the middle) is deep in the middle - maybe 6 feet or more.

Most of the themed resort pools seem to be mainly 4'8" from what I have observed. I don't think many/any have deep sections other than what was posted above.

Disney is doing away with the deep parts.

the one at BC use to be 12'.

think they are doing it for insurance - plus an adult can generally save a child at 5' or less even if they can't swim.

of course the main pools have lifeguards - until they have to leave.

one reason that bc/yc - salb - is closed when no lifeguards is because parts of it are so deep.

Tinkerbellie- I live in up the road from you in Louisville... :):) Anyway, I love the Poly's zero-entry shallow depths but my husband and daughter enjoyed the WL pool and of course the Stormalong Bay's pool.

I'm not a big fan of Stormalong Bay like some other people are so I tend to agree with the 'pain in the rear' comment! I also like a deep end where we can jump in and I don't recall if they have a deep part like that (because I wouldn't be able to jump in the lazy river).

Hi neighbor! I have always wanted to stay at WL. Is that pool deep at all? How do the kids like the slide?

A bump looking for any other feedback for all resorts.

My family also likes a deeper pool.

I am leaning towards POR because of price and 5 in a room. Ideas on how deep the main and alternate pools are?

While the volcano pool at the Poly is pretty shallow I seem to remember the quiet pool being much deeper...does anyone know, or can confirm, that it's fairly deep?!:surfweb:

The main pool at POR was only 4' 8" at it's deepest I believe.

I didn't check the other pools, I just hung out and read at the quiet one near my building.

Not sure how valid this is but when my family stayed at PORiverside we swam in the main pool and I distinctly remember not being able to touch the bottom out near Ol Man's Island. I remember because I do not swim very well and I was trying to help my 2 little ones around when they weren't going up and coming down the (incredibly fast and powerful!)slides (no fear of water there).

Now I am short (5'3") but I usually can bob up and down to find the bottom fairly easily and I could not in this pool? :confused3

Mayeb you could post this question over on the POR resort board, a regular may know better then I. I escaped and went over to POFQ many days because it was so peaceful and quiet there with nice calm slides! :rotfl:

The East Pool (aka quiet pool) at the Poly has a nice deep end about 8 feet. BUT they are refurbing this pool right now to make room for a zero entry. There is no confirmation yet on what this means for the deep end but there is speculation that it will go away :sad1:

I'm fairly sure all of the hotels' quiet pools have deep ends.

I have stayed at several resorts and the non-main pools don't necessarily have deep ends. It's one reason I posted the question. I knew the Poly's pool was being refurbed and not sure if it will still have a deep end. My family and I like to dive far down for dive sticks so I was hoping to find a pool that had a fairly good deep end (over 7 ft) but I'm not sure I'll find it anymore. If anyone has any additional information, I'd love to hear it!

The quiet pool in the Jamaica section at CBR has an 8ft deep end. My kids love diving for coins during our stays, so we spend more time at the quiet pools than the themed pool.

Part of SAB is 8 ft. I'm an adult who can't swim very well and it was pretty scary. I didn't like it at all. Luckily it's just that one part.

The cabin pool at FW has a deep end, like over 6', and the quiet pool at CBR in the pirate section has a deeper end too, like over 6'. I always look for pools to where I can tread water in, as I have a muscle disease, and water helps me quite a bit. This year we're staying at THV, and are gonna miss the deep pools, but the hot tubs help too!! :)

I had no idea about the CBR pools - and pirate theme to boot at the main pool! Thank you for that info!
