DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

The thread does seem to be off. I wonder if 2100 pages is finally too large for the site to handle.
This is the same thing that has happened to my brain. All those movie quotes finally exceeded capacity, so I'm glitching.

We broke the dis! A feat worthy of a bunch of doofuses like us.
:cool1: :rockband::jumping1:party:
Break a 20 year old message board, that is certainly a feat that would require a doofuses' touch. And I'm also certain that we're just the ones to pull such a thing off.

But then again, it seems to be working now, so maybe it was all the young smart I/T doofuses looking after this 20 year old tech that don't know what their up against.
(Not that I'm against taking credit for it, ya' know)
Maybe they had to shut it down for a bit so they could throw some more ads on the page.

Hang on. Does this mean we are going to start the race to the close again?
I always had to bow out of those. I never knew how anyone had the energy (or the time) to keep going.

Morning, Fellas!

Hope this finds you well. I have my MRI scheduled for the end of the month for my knee, so we'll see how that goes. Work has been absolutely crazy. They fired the two front desk receptionists at work, so they now have two floats, me and a friend of mine, working the reception desk. I am so burnt out working at pediatrics. I love the kids, I really do, but that office is out of control with the amount of phone calls that come in.

Welcome to old age! lol. I get Bursitis in my right index finger and my left middle finger, I hold the steering wheel with my right hand. lol.
I thought it was arthritis or I pulled something at first, nope. Started taking Dones Pills. lol.

This sucks. I don't want to be an adult anymore. I want to build a blanket fort and color. I carry around 2 large bottles of pain meds, ibuprofen and Tylenol and alternate between the two.

There is a reason Dr's call what they do practice, they still dont quite have it down. LOL
Glad you finally got a diagnosis that they can work on.

 They may not have it quite down, but they're good.

Hopefully you'll get some answers and more importantly, some relief.

Thankfully. I'm hoping to get this taken care of so I get start working out again and get back into shape....other than round, that is.

What... Our stupid comments not good enough?

Clearly our stupid comments weren't enough.

Somethings really wonky with this thread. I noticed that yesterday. But today I saw other posts and even replied. Then it went back to showing only last Thursday. My post and the others were gone again. :confused3

Something was wonky with the thread because every time I logged in everything was shoved over the left side of the screen.

The thread does seem to be off. I wonder if 2100 pages is finally too large for the site to handle.

Sooooo we throw a party?

We broke the dis! A feat worthy of a bunch of doofuses like us.

I say we throw a party.

Good luck Cape Cod with the MRI.
I know a place that’s hiring, a lot of kids and bubbles everywhere. lol.
It maybe a bit of a commute for you.lol
Well, I’m not sure if the moon and all the planets all were aligned last night but I was able to complete an entire chapter of my book titled,
I was just sitting on the couch minding my own business, how did I get myself into this mess. lol.
Going back tonight for my Tuesday. I’m sure I will be mumbling the usual under my breath. Mumbles like, I don’t get paid for this. What the. NO. I don’t care. ( this is a family site and the above has been heavily edited) lol.
Something I thought I would never hear me say….

They fired the two front desk receptionists at work,
Why??
I am so burnt out working at pediatrics. I love the kids, I really do, but that office is out of control with the amount of phone calls that come in.
Yeah, I couldn't do that. Kids are fine, but... I don't wanna listen to 'em screaming all the time either.
This sucks. I don't want to be an adult anymore. I want to build a blanket fort and color.
That's called old age.

Goooood Wednesday hump day morning!
Some quotes from yesterday,
“ what is that laying on the ground, are you kidding?”
“ Don’t stick that in there.”
“ twenty minutes to go to the bathroom?”
“Where do they find these people.”
“You can’t subtract 7 from 9 in your head?, you have a masters? In what? (Answer) “ finance “
“Where are the keys?”
“ no, you can’t go home.”
This was all in the first two hours. Hahahahahahaha

Afternoon, Gents!

Hope everything's well with everyone. While the week started off horribly, it ended quite nicely. I had my annual review a week ago, and it started off with me walking into the office, sitting down and my supervisor asking me, "So where do you see yourself going?" Basically this was my third year in a row where I was given an "Exceeds Expectation" and she was basically telling me that I'm going to have to move on at some point because I've gone just about as far as I can here. I told her about my goal of becoming a medical coder and she totally told me to go for it. She also told our manager, a director level person, and she even thought it was a good idea. So I now no longer have to worry about studying for my coding and upsetting the cart. I have also been told by my supervisor that a vice-president of the healthcare group knows me by name and likes me.....so I think I'm set. So I'm going to start this journey to becoming a medical coder over. I've done it once before and failed.

On a side note about my knees, I found through multiple x-rays that I have arthritis in my knees, among other joints. Well, I put in for a VA claim hoping to some help there. I worked around the jet flue JP-5 and have discovered through some reading that JP-5 have been known to cause arthritis in laboratory mice. I had to put my claim on hold because we're so short-staffed that I can't afford to take the time off to go to the VA to discuss this with them.

Good luck Cape Cod with the MRI.

Thanks. I'm tired of my knee hurting.

I know a place that’s hiring, a lot of kids and bubbles everywhere. lol.

I've often wondered that myself.

Basically came down to making some serious mistakes, both at separate times. Unfortunately both of the ladies they let go were tri-lingual, Spanish, Portuguese and English. A good number of out patients are either Spanish or Portuguese speaking, so that really hurt. I've picked up enough that I can understand a word or two, but I definitely need to get a translator on the iPad or phone.

Yeah, I couldn't do that. Kids are fine, but... I don't wanna listen to 'em screaming all the time either.

When I first started the screaming got to me, but I was told that you'd get use to it. And for the most part I have gotten use to it. There are times when I cringe listening to them scream, but for the most part I'm use to it. And this is the only office that doesn't have a separate group of people that answer the phones, so the front desk people have to answer phones on top of dealing with patients.

That's called old age.

  It's not what I thought it was going to be, so I'm all set with being old.

Don't know what it was, but it was weird.

This is a family friendly site, so I'll refrain from posting what I was really thinking, however, give you a visual: Sailors and drinking.

"I got sucked into playing a game on my phone."

“Where do they find these people.”

Leftovers from Walmart.

"I'm on vacation, so that means the little dude in my head that is in charge of the math dept. is also on vacation...and I believe he's having a cold drink on the beach. He looks comfortable, so I didn't disturb him."

"You mean you don't have them?"

“ no, you can’t go home.”

I've got nothing for this one.

This is funny. "Hello, ladies and gentleman, and welcome to another episode of "Overheard in the parks, by dvczerfs.""

You can do this. And you now have (more) support. Go get it.

Now this made me curious.... see next post.
When I first started the screaming got to me, but I was told that you'd get use to it. And for the most part I have gotten use to it.
Wow. I can't fathom getting used to that.

Well, I'll say it, rules be darned!
Those sailors and their drinking... sticking their tea bags in their tea cups and sipping tea. Good Lord! The depravity!

So CCT mentioned having long commutes. What's the longest commute you've had for a job?
I don't want to hear "I drove halfway across the US" or "I flew from Chicago to Tel Aviv"... I'm talking about a daily (or at least 2-3 times/week) commute that you did for work.

If you flew Chicago/Tel Aviv and back 2-3 times a week, that counts. But if you're a pilot, you're not commuting to work... you are working.

You can do this. And you now have (more) support. Go get it.

I've already started. I dug out my Medical Vocabulary course book and have started going through it again. Baby steps, but you don't go from couch to 5k overnight.

Hopefully the VA will cover it and you can get some help.

I'm hoping they will. I'm going to do some more research on this and then re-apply for it. I have to re-apply since I cancelled it.

Now this made me curious.... see next post.

See my reply to next post.

Wow. I can't fathom getting used to that.

It did take time, but I've pretty much gotten use to it. There are times when one of the patients is screaming in such a way that makes you think what's being done, but some kids scream more than others.

Well, I'll say it, rules be darned!

The longest commute I've had was 5 hours round trip 5 days a week from my home on Cape Cod to Boston every day for work. While I don't miss the commute, I do miss working in Boston. The summer concert series on the Greenway. Meeting the DW and DD in Boston after work for dinner and a show. And the friends I made at work. I love my job now, not to mention the quality of life. The longest commute I have now might be 45 mins. with summer traffic.

No you don't. I've done that (couch to 5k) and it takes time... but in the end... success!
There are times when one of the patients is screaming in such a way that makes you think what's being done, but some kids scream more than others.
Some do... usually right behind you on an airplane.

Meeting the DW and DD in Boston after work for dinner and a show.
That's a nice perk, there. :)

Oh no, that’s what I say just about everyday, not what I overheard. lol. I don’t really overhear anything anymore, I tune it all out.

Ooohhh it’s gonna get a little breezy around here in the next few days. Not calling for too much rain. Of course we don’t get storm surge, too far inland.
I’ve been off the last two days, I’m scheduled to go back tomorrow at 2:45. My guess, just a guess, no inside info, I have no idea what they are going to do, they usually make these decisions when a storm is “x” miles away giving everyone who is leaving, leave and arrive at their destination safely. I’m guessing late tomorrow afternoon, early evening.
This is not Disneys first rodeo, they know exactly how to handle these things. The hardest part is keeping guest and cps calm. They come from all over the world and all they know or have seen about a hurricane is what they seen on tv and what you see on tv is live from the beach. You are no where near the beach. Your resort won’t blow over, they are built to withstand 150 mph winds plus. 95 percent of what you see is a rainy, breezy event. Those heavy winds are only in a very small area around the one o clock position of the eye. When the storms make landfall, they lose their strength quickly.
Stay indoors, don’t go outside and you will be fine. No need to buy three weeks of water, three weeks of food, your water supply won’t get contaminated with salt water.
You never see Jim Cantori live from the Walt Disney World complex. lol.

Thanks for that. Very informative. Good to have a local perspective.
