DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Morning, Gents! Been a while, but, well, life. Now that school's back in session my daughter has her after school things that she goes to, for which I'm helping out as Daddy's Uber. I'm still dealing with my knee pain from back in August. Initially it was thought I didn't tear anything, but my knee still hurts, so I went back to my primary care doctor. I have something called Bursitis, an inflammation of the Bursa sack, a liquid filled sack that protects the MCL from rubbing against the bone. I'm told that that will eventually clear itself with time. I've been popping ibuprofin and Tylenol every 6 hours and have started to feel better with regards to that, but the knee still hurts. I told him that my chiropractor thinks I might have a strained MCL. Well, he, that is my doctor, did some tests specifically for the MCL and now thinks I might have tore something. Not sure what I tore, be it the MCL or the medial meniscus, but an MRI should tell me that, which I'm still waiting on the appointment. At least now something is being done.

Well, have a good day, Gents.
Welcome to old age! lol. I get Bursitis in my right index finger and my left middle finger, I hold the steering wheel with my right hand. lol.
I thought it was arthritis or I pulled something at first, nope. Started taking Dones Pills. lol.

Just came on line today to read the stupid comments on other threads. Just preparing myself for the stupidity I face daily. lol.
Yesterday, the day before a hurricane is going to make landfall 280 miles away is when they usually start coming out. lol.
A little wind and rain today, a normal September afternoon here in central Florida.

Hopefully you'll get some answers and more importantly, some relief.

What... Our stupid comments not good enough?

Hoping all of our Florida and Southeast dads are well after the hurricane and are riding it out safely.

Just some small twigs in the driveway. About an inch of rain total. It was windy. If you ever want to people watch in Epcot, Spaceship earth in a tropical storm is the place to be. Gee oh man, the wind under the ball, it felt like i walked four miles against the wind. lol. A lot of guest were from Florida, they fled to WDW to avoid the storm so they knew an umbrella is useless. A northerner opens a huge golf umbrella. In three seconds, he was holding a piece of metal only, the rest of it I’m sure is in the parking lot in the Magic Kingdom by now. lol. Then you had the rain poncho wrestling matches. lol.
I left work at 11:30 last night and it wasn’t bad at all.
Strollers, bags, hats, ponchos you name it, it was in the fountain. lol.

Glad you rode it out smooth.
Are there any of our dads in the Tampa or panhandle area that took the brunt of it?
I really don’t know, I’m not on the other group, just haven’t been around for a good number of years. The only one I know is Fed, he’s in Georgia just north of the Florida state line and he’s fairly close to the Atlantic, he made it through fine. He did say it was stronger than what he was expecting.
Western North Carolina, for the most part is closed. They got really hit hard.
My brother lives on Emerald Island in North Carolina and they barely knew anything was going on.
So I come to find out, the wind speed under the ball is 20 mph faster than the ambient wind speed. So if we were getting 40-50 mph winds, that explains why everyone was having a hard time walking under there.
Where I’m at, I sit on top of a “hill”. Our soil is sand so what water don’t run down the street, sinks into the sand like a wave on the beach. We are dead center in the middle of the state at 167 feet above sea level. Our house is concrete with hurricane windows and doors and I also live on a golf course, golf balls bounce off our windows. lol In 2022, hurricane Ian made land fall in Ft Meyers at a cat 4, came over us as a strong cat2 which was one of the hardest hit hurricane in my area. It was also a slow mover. Helene was moving fast. We only felt the hardest affects for about an hour. Rest of it the sun was going in and out.
The scarier part is the tornados. I’ve never seen one but they tell me the are small and don’t last very long.
Like I always say, you never see The Weather Channel live from central Florida. They show a hurricane on tv and say, 150 mph!! What they don’t tell you that speed is near the eye at about the one o clock position. The rest of it is rain and wind. The picture they show you with all the storm surge is from the beach. I don’t live anywhere near the beach.

Ok, NOAA who let their 12yo kid draw the map?

I presume you mean tornados spun off a hurricane, as opposed to a CB cell?

We broke the dis! A feat worthy of a bunch of doofuses like us.
Break a 20 year old message board, that is certainly a feat that would require a doofuses' touch. And I'm also certain that we're just the ones to pull such a thing off.

But then again, it seems to be working now, so maybe it was all the young smart I/T doofuses looking after this 20 year old tech that don't know what their up against.
(Not that I'm against taking credit for it, ya' know)

Seems to be working but some messages went <poof> :confused3

Somethings really wonky with this thread. I noticed that yesterday. But today I saw other posts and even replied. Then it went back to showing only last Thursday. My post and the others were gone again. :confused3
Same, weird.

The thread does seem to be off. I wonder if 2100 pages is finally too large for the site to handle.
Hang on. Does this mean we are going to start the race to the close again?
