The other odd note in my experience is that I was only approved for a two week window? It's not really a problem for us since that covers when our trip time will be.

We're DVC but not AP.

We were also approved for 2 weeks only so he confirmed our start date. If you are DVC you probably needed to mention that during the chat, although I think the extension only applies to AP.

We are not DVC and have date based tickets.

You would need to have AP to be approved for 240 days

DVC doesn’t have any bearing on the number of days that DAS is approved for.
The official information posted on the Disney website is up to 240 days or the length of the ticket.
Although some people have reported being approved for longer, length of ticket is all you can expect

Thanks! I remembered that some folks said they got approved for longer but I couldn't remember what the circumstances were.

My son was approved today. He is unable to participate, so I spoke for him. I was asked one question, and I gave a detailed answer. He was approved after that, had his picture taken, and we were done. The entire exchange, including the wait to be connected, was 15 minutes. Our agent was kind and professional, as always. She also approved our family of 5 immediately, with no need to escalate. (Mom, Dad, 3 minor children.)

Our 17 yr old son was approved this morning and it was pretty good overall. I didn’t wait at all (was on the video call a few minutes after 7am) and I chatted with the CM for a while outlining why he needed DAS. I was asked what he’s like waiting in lines, what supports he has in school, what a worst case scenario would look like. I was a bit flustered at times but not because of the CM, who was great, just nervous.

He then asked to talk to my son, and asked him what waiting in lines are like for him, then asked to speak to me again. I was afraid he was going to reject us but said that my son was a great candidate for it. Super thankful and looking forward to a great trip.

I was approved today. The wait to start the chat was around 5 minutes, and I was approved quickly with only information about my needs in the parks (no questions re accommodations or what I do in daily life). I had DAS last year, and do meet the current stated description of who/what DAS is for, but was nervous going into the call because of not-knowing how my needs fell into their policies after the changes. I'm glad to know I will have it for this trip and now can really start planning what I want to do and how I'm going to navigate the parks (which without DAS would look very different).

I was approved for the second time under the new rules (last trip was in August). The first call under new rules was quick and easy. This time, not so much. I was transferred to a "medical professional" who asked me 5ish additional questions and I felt pretty grilled. My call was almost 30 minutes long talking to the two people. I am not complaining; just stating facts.

ETA: My general feeling is that they are getting more strict with approvals.

From comments I’ve read it seems they are being more strict with adult approvals anyway, not sure if they are as strict with children.

Denied, as expected. Recommended AQR/"meetup" and rider switch. Thought it was interesting that they suggested rider switch, but the rider switch definition itself hasn't changed. The way he described it doesn't mesh with the info provided in the chat. Also gave sensory info and suggested quiet areas.

Kiddo is disappointed and concerned, but we'll do what we can and adjust as needed. It's a long trip, so we'll hopefully be able to adapt.

Just curious, was this for an adult or minor child?

I'm autistic and in a wheelchair for unrelated conditions. Heather with DL DAS was able to help me and I was approved. I'm also traveling with 2 other physically disabled so trying to navigate queues if we were meeting at the boarding area (why can I not remember the terminology now) would be all but impossible

Did my renewal today (I know they don’t actually renew it). Anyway I was approved again for our December 14 trip. I explained why I need it and gave some background info on what happens/my reactions. She asked me a question which I had lots of examples for the answer and I also put in a few other situations. She approved it without having to send me to a medical professional this time. Interestingly enough I had this same cast member in the past at some point. I recognized her. Since we have AP it lasts until early August. Idk if we will renew or not but probably not next year. We have a December trip and a March trip scheduled. Might be it for awhile. Kid starting her real life career in June

I had my video chat this morning and was approved for my two sons really quickly! Such a relief.

We chatted about one child at a time and the CM was lovely - but brief! I was super organised and had written out exactly what I wanted to say, so I didn't forget.

I showed him my notes and started reading them, and he cut me off after my first paragraph and said, "Thank you, I totally understand and have enough to approve your son."

I read even less of my notes for my second son, and he approved him straight away too!

He asked if I was a teacher because I was so organised and explained everything really clearly, and I said yes, I was! Ha!

Maybe he liked that I was organised and could explain things well, or maybe he knew I'd ramble on and couldn't be bothered listening to it all - but either way, it was a super easy, quick video chat and I'm so relieved we were approved.

I put off my DAS interview, could have done it almost 2 weeks ago but I had such anxiety about it. I was approved under the new rules in June and was approved again during the video call I had this weekend for my trip in 2 weeks. I had my notes with me which helped. I did not have to speak to a medical professional. The CM asked more questions than in my previous interview in June. My notes are organized into 4 sections:
- My problems in line are caused by...
- Those problems lead to...
- The accomodations I have at work are...
- Real-life situations are 'handled' by...

We only purchased a 1 day MK ticket for our 10 day trip that is coming up. I couldn't fathom purchasing more tickets having no idea if I could be accommodated. We plan on 4 Universal park days instead since I have a valid assistance pass there and annual passes. Even though I received a DAS, our time in the Disney parks are shorter and shorter every trip with these new rules as the anxiety and unknown leading up to the trip is just too much for me. I let the CM know the inability to know far ahead if I qualified for a DAS caused me to only buy a 1 day ticket for my family. The CM stated that my DAS is good for 14 days from the date of my 1 day MK ticket and hinted I could add more days to my ticket but we already have our plans and dining reservations set elsewhere.

They did add all 4 of my immediate family members to my DAS (husband and 3 teen/ tween children), the CM had to speak with a supervisor to do so since the number was over the limit.

This is the way to go, for anyone reading who is nervous about how to explain their disability. This time I stumbled on the 3rd and 4th bullet point which is probably why I was sent to a medical professional.

DH was denied the DAS yesterday; however, the CM was very nice about explaining options, such as attraction return times (this is at Disneyland Resort, so there are several attractions with these, apparently it is the new or accurate term for wheelchair return times) and also have use each 3 multiple experience passes to use. These passes can be used pretty much anywhere, except Tiana's Bayou Adventure from what we can see. For us an how we do the rides at the parks, this should do the trick between those and the attraction return times. Obviously the attraction return times aren't as convenient as the DAS since we have to physically go to the attraction to get the return time, but still doable.

Now when we go to Disney World, it may be a whole different issue.

My comment to Disney is that the chat shouldn't be labeled as DAS registration, but something making it clearer that you can have a discussion to figure out which accommodations are appropriate, DH and I think it would ease a lot of the anxiety so many feel about calling in.

Did they ask to talk to your teen? I’m a bit concerned they will want to talk to mine who might make me sound like a liar 😆 He will be all like “yeah I can wait in line” 🤦🏻‍♀️. He doesn’t quite understand what happens to him when it’s happening and doesn’t think that far ahead…

She was sitting there with me, but she prefers me to talk to them. He said he might ask her. Questions, and I think he asked her 1-2, but it was pretty clear it was a denial right from the start.
