I know these are not budget shoes! But I have been debating over purchasing a pair of these for a couple years now. I'm back to work and on my feet all day so I feel like a good pair of shoes is probably an investment at this point...is there anyone here who has tried both of these brands and can give me honest feedback? Probably looking to get just the basic clog type shoe (with the closed back) to wear with dress pants (not super dressy but not khakis either). Thanks!

I have never tried the Alegria, but I have worn the Danskos for over 10 years. I stand all day at work also and these are great. A friend a work who was having problems from a heal spur just bought a pair and now swears by them also. They are well worth the investment. :thumbsup2

I have danskos and I love them. I never tried on the other brand.

As for budget, yes they are pricey but they will last. I have had my danskos for 2 yrs, maybe 3 and I wear them pretty much daily in the colder months.

The same for keens. I cringe at the price but my first pair lasted me 5 yrs!

I love Dansko and Sanita clogs. I have numerous pairs of each, some purchased 8+ years ago, and all are in excellent condition. They're also incredibly comfortable (I spend lots of time on my feet as a nurse).

I exclusively wear Dansko and Sanita shoes all year long. Right now I prefer Sanita, as Dansko has outsourced all their production to China. I have two pairs of Sanitas that are made in China (didn't find it out until after I'd bought them online), so now I make a point to find out before I buy. The shoe repairman I go to says that the pairs that are made in China tend to have a lot of variability in size.

They're expensive, but you can get deals on them - Zuilily has Danskos on sale now (they went on sale yesterday, so they won't be on the main page - you'll have to click on the links at the bottom). I buy a lot of shoes at the ClogOutlet website - they'll have amazing sales a couple of times a year. And 6pm often has them on sale as well.

Oh - one more thing. Everyone I've ever know who has not liked Danskos or Sanitas has worn them too tight. They are designed to slip up and down on your feet when you walk - I think they recommend 1/2 or 1/4 inch of space behind your heel. Make sure you get them big enough or they won't be comfortable.

I will also recommend the Propet clogs. I have Clarks as well which are comfy but the propets are even more amazingly comfortable.

Every pair of dansko clogs I have ever bought broke in the exact same spot after a few months wear
Company never responded to my emails

I love my Danskos. My co-workers (Medical assistants and Nurses) who wear Alegria love them but they don't fit my foot very well so I stick with the Dansko brand.

Do you have a Designer Shoe Warehouse nearby? If you do I have seen both brands for close to 50% off. You can buy one of each and figure out which will work for you.

Gosh - I've had some of my pairs for 8-9 years without any damage. Where did they break?

I have both Dansko and Alegria and I like the Dansko a lot more. The Alegria, while very comfortable, make me feel like I'm about to trip when walking in them. :confused3

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I did see Sanitas online but didn't know anything about them. Glad to know people like them,
They have some really cute patterns! Are they meant to be worn big like the danskos? Do you typically order a size up?

I like Sanita also. I believe they are the original Dansko. When Dansko sold out quality went way down.

Funny I came across this post. I was just on Zappos.com looking for another pair of Alegrias. I've never tried Dansko, just so pleased with Alegria that I never gave them much of a second glance. I'm a nurse and I need a good, comfortable shoe. I finally tried them after my hairstylist starting wearing them.

I wear both and trade them on and off, I like the Dansko's because of the clog and Algeria are slip on's at least mine are and once I had to run for a patient emergency and ended up taking them off because they were falling off! Algeria has some good deals if your not picky on colors!!

I own several pairs of both Danskos and Allegrias. I have to say I like the Allegria so much better. I find I end up turning my ankles in the Dansko's because they have a raised sole. Allegria's are solid on the ground. One caveat--they don't have a lot of tread on their sole--so they are slippery on ice or muddy conditions. I learned that the hard way when I was rushing to my car! =)

I go back and forth with these two brands. I've been wearing the Danskos more lately. They are both good shoes. I have plantar fasciitis so I need decent shoes.

I work as an OR nurse so I am on my feet all day. I do have to be careful with the Danskos though because of the higher heel, especially when there are cords on the floor. I have turned my foot a couple of times!

Dansko do not work for my angles, alegrias are great for me. I came across KLOGS half the price of alegria and are amazing. KLOGS are the only shoes I use for work now (medical). Good luck.pixiedust:

My Alegrias changed my life. I no longer go around with my feet and legs killing me. I've got two of the "Belle" style and a pair of sandals and am beginning to shop for my next ones.

Check 6pm.com to see if they have the style you want in either of these brands. I got my first Allegrias there for about $45!
