Covid Comeback?

Why would anyone even think of judging someone who wears a mask? I got the latest strain in July. It was my 4th time but this time it was much worse. I was out of work for a month. I was on Prednisone, two kinds of inhalers and ran a high fever. I've never had a problem with my lungs but it was incredibly scary not being able to breathe at times. I went for a check-up yesterday(I feel fine now) and this was at a major medical center in DC and they wouldn't let me in without a mask. The doctor said that Covid numbers were so high that they have gone back to masking. People on the boards are saying it's just like the flu. No big deal. That is certainly not the case for a good number of people. I applaud people who want to take precautions. What on earth could be the downside to wearing a mask if that is what a person feels comfortable doing or in fact must do?
August was my fourth time too. First round was March 2020. It was bad and I was contemplating going to the hospital for breathing issues. I had a fever for 10 days. Slept for about 20 hours a day too. Didn't retrieve my energy for months afterwards. Second time (Holidays 2021), fever for 6 hours. Slept and then got up and made dinner. I only tested the third time (March 2023) because my husband was positive. Really no symptoms. Round four kicked my butt was almost like round 1 without the fever. I was very lethargic and I could hardly walk. Walking was very slow too. After a month I can finally move but I am not even considering a formal workout yet. (The good news is I started my symptoms on my first day back from Disney trip!) I figure I will always be prone to it unfortunately. Stay safe everyone!

We just came home from Disney and brought the unwanted souvenir of Covid with us. From the hotel, parks or plane…doesn’t matter where it came from. We used Purell faithfully throughout the day. We wiped down our plane seat area with lysol wipes. It still got us.

It’s not horrible, but it sucks.

Ugh. I’m so sorry. We’re here now & I’m still so worried about getting it. We wore masks at the airport & on the plane, but haven’t worn them in the parks. I’ve planned our parks to avoid a lot of buses & long lines. We do like to et at table service restaurants so 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I hope it’s not too bad for you & you’re better soon.

That's because it's really not a "surface" disease. Sure, it can be but it really doesn't survive long. There's nothing wrong at all with hand sanitizing and wiping because it will save you from a host of other illnesses--COVID not so much. COVID is probably a 99% highly contagious airborn/respiratory disease so all the Purell in the world isn't going to help to any degree.

I made it through my San Diego trip and I was so worried about catching it. I masked from the time I entered the aiport until I walked outside of baggage claim. I never masked on the trip. 80% of what we did was outdoors but I did go to dine indoors most days and went to a few indoor museums that had me feeling nervous. It was so good to make it home and not be sick on vacation.

I brought home "something" from Disney 2 weeks ago. I did not test because I swear it was allergies, but DH swears I had Covid. As far as I know, I have been no-vid up until this point. I just stayed home and WFH for the week and DH kept far away from me. My kid was with me in WDW so he did not stay away cuz whatever I had, he had already been exposed to, if contagious. Nobody else in the house got anything. I had draining ears, lots of crud in my throat and nose, and a cough from it all. No fever, never felt bad, just sounded awful. I have no idea what the symptoms are of the latest strain.

I masked on the way down, as I did not want to pick anything up to live with me for the week I was there. I counted and saw less than 10 masks the WHOLE WEEK in WDW - and they were all employees.

But, on the way back, we had a delayed flight, and ended up spending about 24 hours in the MCO airport. I did not mask at all, just figured I would roll the dice since I was already so fricking irritated with the delays.

That all said, the way that NOT A SINGLE PERSON that I saw has changed their behavior since 2020....ugh. No wonder this will never go away. People sneezing and coughing without covering, kids licking walls and railings and chairs. A few kids flicking boogers into the water fountains. SOOO many people leaving bathrooms without washing hands.

I never paid much attention to it before, cuz I just took care of me and mine. But, it was disgusting.

The lack of mouth covering at WDW when we were there in January was absolutely shocking to me. People were just coughing all over and it was disgusting. I remember our first morning we ate breakfast at the little tables in the hallway area right by Roaring Fork at Wilderness Lodge and people kept walking by and coughing practically onto our food! Needless to say, we had breakfast in our room each morning after that.

And I was surprised we didn't catch anything on our flight home because the people right behind us were gunky coughing the entire time. We did have masks on so maybe they helped.

On my flight home, there was a man seated directly behind me, obviously ill with something respiratory. Coughing, sneezing, say "oh God" in between blowing his nose. He never covered his mouth when coughing in any way or tried to control the sneeze.

in my opinion crew should say something in this case

I’ve noticed so much of that this week, especially among grown adults. Kids forget, but adults should know better by now. Although, we saw 1 little girl yesterday as we were getting off Soarin’. She as 4ish, walking next to her dad & coughing several times. But she had both her little hands cupped over her mouth totally covering her cough. I wanted to tap the dad & say how impressed I was with her cough hygiene & what a great job the parents were doing. But they headed off quickly so I didn’t do it. Probably a good thing, he might have thought I was nuts. :rotfl:

People are disgusting, that’s just all there is to it.

As I've said on other threads throughout Covid, our family has masked
since March 18, 2020 - literally.
I saw a new Dr. yesterday (specialist) and when they came into the exam room
they were masked, which was considerate.
(I believe their office as well as others have staff inform the Dr. if the patient is masked,
and they then put one on out of consideration, at least this has been my experience,
but not every Dr. has done it.)

So, when this new Dr. came into the room they said,
"I'm so glad to see you wearing a mask! Nobody is wearing them & Covid is everywhere!!" (emphasis theirs).
They then told me my KN95 was the right one to be wearing.

Prayers said for all who are sick here, and your families 🙏 .

Tested positive this morning, probably from my Disneyland Paris visit previous weekend. First time was August '22, so not a bad score once every two years.

Started yesterday as a soar throat, which felt off. Tested negative yesterday, positive today.
