my husband is attending a conference at the convention center at Yacht Club. We have done this in the past and stayed at YC and BC and it was amazing. We moved too slow this time and the hotel is sold out (oops!) so we are going to stay at CS in the conference block there. It has been 5 years since our last trip and I'm now figuring out all the changes, including no more lovely free airport transportation with bag check, so looking at possibly renting a car - does anyone know if there is free day parking for conference attendees? If so I think that would save him a lot of time/hassle vs. lyft or bus to DHS + skyliner to epcot entrance + walk.
Alternately, has anyone done lyft rides between CS and YC/BC recently that could weigh in on wait time and price?
If he is staying at CS:
He should not have a problem getting a Lyft at YC to head back to CS.
He might have a problem taking a Lyft from CS to YC.
People figured out that it would be nice to take a rideshare to resorts, and then walk from there to the theme parks. Disney didn't like it. Sometimes the guards at the gate prevent rideshares from dropping off unless the person has a room reservation or a restaurant reservation at that resort.
I don't know if being able to prove that you are attending a convention at that resort would be enough to make the guard back down.
Sometimes the guards just don't care and let anybody in.
Swan and Dolphin are not owned by Disney and they don't care. So he could always take a rideshare from CS to Dolphin and walk to YC from there.
As for parking: same thing, Disney doesn't want people parking at YC/BC and then walking over to Epcot. Would it help if he were attending a convention there? Don't know.
At one point, you if you were willing to pay for valet parking, you could park and stay as long as you like. I'm not sure if that is still the case.
I'm sure that others will pop in correct me if I'm wrong.
You can open the Lyft app at home. Set your pick up at CS and your drop off at YC and see what the pricing is.
