How does ordering online work if you have vision insurance that pays for part of your contacts? Like I think mine pays up to $125 towards contacts and I pay the difference. The optometrist just files it for me, but is there a way to apply the insurance to online orders?

Also, I've never had the dr turn of the prescription...in fact, they seem to not really want to.....

My husband and I order our contacts through coastalcontacts.com. They are always cheaper than 1800contacts for us. My contacts are $8 cheaper per box with them and my husband's are about $16 per box. We have gotten Walmart to price match them when we've been in to see the eye doctor.

My insurance pays for contacts OR glasses. I use the insurance on the glasses and buy the contacts at Vision DIrect. If you google you can always find a coupon code for them.

Or just use your insurance for whatever you can get free at the eye doctor then order the supply you need from vision direct.

I've been ordering mine from Walgreens using a 20% discount.

Hi~ A few have mentioned te 20% discount with Walgreens. Do you get the discount off their site? Is it it a promo code and how often would you say the 20% discount is available? Thanks!

I don't have contact insurance now thanks to cut backs but when I did, I would order them directly from any of the online companies and then submit the original receipt that comes with the contacts to my insurance with a letter requesting reibursement and my name, info, etc. They would mail me a check directly for the $125 every two years. If the doc is reluctant to write a scrip which I believe is illegal for them not to (grrrr!), you can order without a prescription at most online stores (your prescription is on your box). They ask for the doctor's name and phone and try to verify the info but many doctors refuse to talk to the online companies so I've gotten something along the line of "We were unable to verify your prescription with your doctor's office. Please be certain your prescription is up to date." on the receipt but I have only ever had one online company refuse to fill without doctor's verification - maybe contactlensking or lens.com.

We have been ordering our contact lenses through 1800contacts for years. If you do a search and find prices cheaper make a note of that web site and 1800contacts will match the price. They also come pretty quickly.
