Characters signing pillow cases?

Hi. I remember something on this forum about dropping off a pillow case or piece of clothing along with permanent markers and all the characters will sign it during the cruise and have it ready for you when you leave. I just don't remember where you drop it off. I assume you do it after you first board?

Does anyone have this information?

Thanks, Tromba

Drop it off at guest services with some sharpies or fabric markers:thumbsup2 They will deliver it to your stateroom at the end of your cruise :)

We did this on our cruise last month...dropped it off at guest services with markers and some candy with a thanks in advance note...got them (2) back the last night with no autographs. :( A couple days after we got home, 2 signed ones showed up in the mail. Don't know how, but it was a blessing since my DD was heartbroken about hers not being signed (we were celebrating her 6th b-day). :) She loves it  and sleeps with it every night.

many times you can just bring the pillowcases with you and bring them to guest services and not the pens. although to make sure they sign the way you want make sure you bring the pens. In addition just make sure you add your name and cabin number on the inside of the pillow case just in case it gets misplaced or something happens to it.

Enjoy your cruise!

To make it easy put pillowcase(s), markers and cabin # in a ziplock bag.

When we took our pillowcases to guest services I remember filling out a form that stated who you would like to sign them. For example, my daughter got Princesses and my son did not.

What a cute idea. It is so much fun finding out all the little extras you can get on the ship from this board.
One more thing to add to my list of things to get ready. :tigger:

I KNOW!!! I just love this board! I am going to make my daughter one of these. Have her name embroidered on it, with maybe "9th birthday" on it, AWESOME!!

I went ahead and bought an 8x10 frame with a mat and am bringing the mat along with us for the characters to sign, then I'll pick the best picture of my two kids from the trip to stick in it.

I had a friend embroider the DCL logo, kids names and cruise dates in the middle of the pillowcases. Dropped them off at Guest Services the very first day in a big zippy bag with Sharpies (retractable, fine point) in about 12 different colors. Added 2 movie theater sized boxes of Sweettarts and Sprees as a thank you. Filled out the paperwork and got them back the last night of the cruise. Even got Captain Jack's autograph! I asked for it, but didn't think I would get that one... :cool1:

I have the DCL logo! I always thought of not doing it in the middle because they lay their heads on it and would mess it up. Did yours do that? I was thinking of embroidering her name and anything else (9th bday, date etc) on the end where it wouldnt get messed up, but would still show. What do you think? I have to go buy some plain cotton white pillowcase because the pink ones I have are the microfiber and pretty slick so I doubt the sharpie will work on it.

Thanks! :hippie:

Funny you should ask!! I read about it before taking our first cruise this last week!! I bought 2 pillowcases on sale at Disney and one monogrammed one from Disney (also great sale) and included about 10 different colored permanent markers and a signable frame...afraid the mat might get bent with all our luggage...I turned it in at Guest services and she filled out a request and stuck it to our bag, all were turned in the last night and the kids were thrilled! We put some M&M's in the bags for those signing...lots of fun!!

I thought it was very clever how their signatures match the color they chose to sign with!! I think a put a whole pack of colored sharpies in there..not sure I got all back but I told them to keep them if they needed them to sign for others!

We are going on our 2nd Disney cruise in October. On our 1st we brought a mat from a picture frame because we knew that they did the family portraits. We dropped it off at guest services to be signed and they filled out a form with us stating which direction we wanted the mat to be signed (horizontally or vertically) and who we wanted to sign it. The last night of the cruise it was returned to our stateroom with a ton of signatures on it and now we have a great family picture of us from the cruise with the character signatures surrounding us on the mat inside the frame. It looks great and we get comments on it whenever someone new comes over.

Is there a limit of one item per guest? My dh and I are cruising by ourselves for our 25th anniversary. I was thinking of bringing a pillowcase home for each of my 3 teenagers, and I would also like a photo mat. If it is only one item per person I think I will just get one pillowcase for my dd and the photo mat. (I don't know if my boys would care about the pillowcases.)

What a cute idea!!! I had no idea that you could do this. My daughter will be tickled to have all the autographs. Thank you for posting this:lovestruc

I have sharpie markers as well as fabric markers. Does anyone know which work better?

Sharpies give a more defined colour but will spread when washed with warm water. Not to say that the colour will ever come out... it just spreads.
Fabric markers will have a somewhat muted colour, but will not spread.

Wouldn't Sharpies fade out after many washes?

Everything will eventually. What I did for our first cruise was make the kids a 14x14 pillow sham for a throw pillow with a mickey sillouette on it and ask them to sign that. The kiddos don't sleep ON it, they've slept with it, but the wear and tear is MUCH lower, and it looks adorable on their beds, bean bag chairs, a shelf, pretty much anything. Most craft or fabric stores have the pillow inserts to put in them and they're not expensive. I just used muslin/cotton for the sham itself... (I can't post a picture, it's a secret for my FE group!!!!!)
