I love good food and my husband and I have been wanting to try out Carthay Circle since it has opened, so we finally called to make a reservation. However, they asked us if we would like the World of Color package which they said was a fixed menu with preferred seating at World of Color. Has anyone done the fixed menu and is the preferred seating worth it? I don't know if the choices on the fixed menu are good so wondering if ordering from the full menu then getting a fast pass for World of Color instead, is better. I would like to be able to try all the different food that Carthay Circle has to offer, so wondering what people recommend for a first time Carthay Circle restaurant guest... Full menu or Fixed menu with World of Color? :confused3:confused::confused3:confused:

Hmmm. I've never heard of a fixed price menu for WOC at Carthay. Two possibilities: it may be new, or you might have gotten some bad information. In the past to get WOC tickets at Car that everyone in your party has to order an entree and either an app or dessert.

Hard to say since the fixed menu is new. I made reservations for the WOC meal when it was the old one off the menu. Now it sounds like we won't get that choice. I'm sad because the fixed menu doesn't have the "biscuits". The fixed menu may be good, but I don't know. I'll find out next Monday.

I have been to the Carthay Circle preferred area and we liked that. It isn't seating- it's standing. We went for the second show last summer and got a good rail spot. The railings were filled but behind us was lots of room so people not at a railing could space themselves out and back. We like the view. You can't see what is right on the water, but we didn't miss it because you could see the entire area and take in the whole show since it is further back. We liked this better than right down front.

The Prix Fixe WOC dinner is new to Carthay Circle, although it has always been done that way at Wine Country.

If you want to explore the great food Carthay has to offer, full menu is the way to go :goodvibes
I love the Firecracker Duck Wings :thumbsup2

Some recently updated menus:

Get the one w/ the WOC package. Haven't done the fixed price menu, but I can't imagine the food on the full menu will be much better than the fixed price menu. When I went there, they just had the regular menu (fixed price wasn't introduced yet) and the service and food was less than decent. Thus, at least with the fixed price menu, you get to see the WOC. However, if the food is great (which would be a drastic departure from when I was there), then well, you get the good food and you get to see WOC.

Oh and the seats for WOC were pretty darn good from Carthay Circle. You can really feel the flames when they shoot up from the water.

The WOC prix fixe menu is a recent change at CCR. Apparently, too many guests were having trouble figuring out the old system or were trying to pay as little as possible while still demanding FPs. But don't worry -- the prix fixe menu is quite generous, having many, if not most, of the entree items from the regular menu. No matter which menu you choose, your meal will be great!

I am really hoping they don't hold us to this next week, I wouldn't have made reservations if I had known ahead of time and I'm going to make a big point that we were told entree & either appy or desert. The fixed price menu is so limited :(

This is my plan too. I have no interest in the prix fixe menu and would have chosen a different location had this information come out before we made our reservations.

Thank you for the lunch menu. I had been wondering about that. I see they are offering their $22 hamburger. What a deal! ;) Actually I could have sworn it used to be $28, but maybe I was mistaken.

Okay, what time do you have to line up if you have a regular fast pass for WOC? I'm seriously thinking of cancelling, between them never getting back to me about our dietary issue and this it doesn't seem worth it. I wanted the freaking duck wings again.

It was $22 in September

It's been $22 since the original menu came out last year. There are a number of Dis threads just over a year old discussing the $22 burger.

Okay I had my little freak out, then phoned Disney Dining and got a great cast member. She noted everything on our reservation and said they try to be very accommodating. She said none of it should be a problem, so I'm feeling much better now. The kid's world of color menu sounds exactly the same as it did before except they only have marinara for the pasta.

I still think not having another option than soup or salad on the appy menu is lame; especially when half the entrees are salads or vegetarian. They really want you to eat a salad! I may just order an extra side of Duck Wings.

Yeah, I remember those threads and being shocked at the price of a burger when the place first opened. I guess over time I just increased the price in my head! :rotfl:

I agree. I'd like some other choices. Of course they want to push salad. Lettuce is cheap. I would order a side of the biscuits but I think I will be too full. I also had the gorditas last time and they were really good.

That's too bad. We had lunch at CC last week, and they let us have the WOC fastpasses under the old policy. I had my email confirmation of the dining reservation with the old policy. I usually call to make dining reservations; this was the first time I had tried the email process, but it ended up working well for us.

We were originally seated at an oddly shaped table right next to the kitchen (super busy location) even though there were lots of empty tables throughout the restaurant. I asked for a different table, and we were moved to the Hollywood room. Much nicer ambience and a great server. She told me that there had been a lot of confusion over the new prix fixe menu and said that it was no problem to order from the full menu under the old policy.

I ended up ordering the prix fixe meal anyway since it was a good deal for the salmon, which would have cost $30 a la carte. (I asked to look at both menus--the full menu and the prix fixe menu--so I could compare the value for the various entrees.) DH ordered a la carte since he wanted the $22 hamburger, although with his $11 dessert and $3 iced tea, his meal ended up being just $3 less than the $39 prix fixe meal cost. We would have saved a bit more if he didn't have iced tea! The greater savings was for the kids' meals though. Each kid's meal was $8 for a pasta entree plus $4 for an ice cream dessert; the cost for the prix fixe kid's meal was $22.

Sorry you had a different experience. :confused3

Egads, that lunch menu is bad.. Oh well. I have my reservations for Sunday and I'm just gonna roll with it.

I think the kids meal is where it is a real shame. My kids aren't big on salads or soup. I'm just going to tell them to not even bother bringing it out if we are stuck with the fixed price menu next week; it would just go directly to the garbage if they did which would be a massive waste.

With the drinks included the prix fixe works out better for us! Especially with the entree choices!

I have to post this... there was a similar thread here on The Dis a couple of weeks ago. The whole is there a prix menu or not at Carthay Cirlce. So I emailled Disney Dining (this is rexactly my email) :
Hello! We are having lunch at Carthay Cirlcle on Aug 7 for the World of
Color passes? Is lunch prix fixe or is it appetizer/entrée or
entrée/dessert?

Today, this is the response I receievd from Disney Dining:

Disney Dining

Thank you for contacting dine@disneyland.com.

Carthay Circle Restaurant is not a pre fixed menu. Each member of the
party must order an entree with either an appetizer or dessert.

If you were interested in a pre fixed menu you are able to dine at Wine
Country Trattoria (lunch or dinner) or Ariel's Grotto (dinner only).

Should you have additional questions, please contact us again by
replying to this e-mail.

Best Regards,
