Canadian Buffoon's DISmeet vacation - 09/14 - Bowled Over

“We’re all just having a grand ol’ time sitting over here on the Group-W Bench.”

Set aside a half-hour and listen to the best anti-propaganda war song ever written! I used to play the cassette in the car when DD was little and she’s been a peace-monger ever since. My favorite line is this: “I cannot tell a lie. I put that envelope underneath that garbage.”

“You can get anything you want
At Alice’s Restaurant.......”

Meanwhile...
to answer some questions
of where I've been.... well...
I've been for a little drive,

Here. <click me!>
So…
When did you roll though Seattle?
I was basically just a ferry ride away nearly all of last week.

Oh, man.
I mean... that's... really crappy.
Medieval.
Bless our hearts…

I wouldn't do that to my readers...

often.
Nice caveat there, Caesar

I still love Giligan's Island
or Get Smart.

But those were good, so...
Agreed…
Well, on half of those series at least.
(Would you believe…)

I was thinking of some of the late 60s early 70s animation being imported from Japan about that time.
That was some seriously retched stuff (of course, so was a good deal of the US Saturday-Morning fair, to be honest).

Yep. I gave Liesa a dime.
Ahhh, yes Sahib…
You are generous to a fault.

Don't get the reference on this one?
Arlo Guthrie’s “Alice's Restaurant “

It’s well wort the 35 odd minute play time if you’ve never heard it.
(or just read the lyric as the tune is really secondary to the story)

Those aren’t PILOWS!!!

::yes:: My Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator
comes in handy from time to time.
But where where’s the Kaboom?
There should have been an Earth-shattering Kaboom!

“You can get anything you want
At Alice’s Restaurant.......”[/COLOR][/B]
“Except’n Alice…”

Sunni Sky's solves a lot of the world's problems

You understate it.

And then like 3 days later I remembered. It was about the supercars. And I was going to say I chose neither, I lust over the Audi R8

Nice! Totally get that.
That is one nice car.

When we were in Texas, we ended up meandering around and had to go down this ridiculously steep drive. My mom said it's be a good time to shift into low. I said "There is no low." She said "There has to be, it's the L on the gearshift" I replied "I know what low would be, there is no L!"

:lmao:

I'm out of the loop on races this year. We gave up cable, so I miss a good 75% of the races since we don't have NBCSports. I have a friend who graciously lets me bum off her app, but I have a bad habit of forgetting when races are on.

Well Hinch won that one.
Followed by a fourth
in Toronto.

We need a support group.

I think we just made one!

Yes!! On all counts.

Ugh. I just don't like it. I'll skip it if given the chance.
Best ride in Disney......that's a hard one. California Screamin' (or whatever it is now) is my favorite in DLR. I think best at WDW would have to be.....hmm.

Whoopsie!
Bit of a typo at the end, there.
It's not "hmm", it's HM.

You're welcome.

Oh man, it's so much fun!

Well... might have to rethink that one.

I don't think he would have taken it at that point. He'd been pooped on by a bird in line. It was not a great first ride. The good news is we had much more successful rides later.

I've heard that getting pooped
on by a bird is good luck.

You know who says that?
People who haven't been
pooped on by a bird.

That, and, I mean, it's Joe.

::yes::

Well, I haven't had the thirty to listen,
but I have had the 15 to read.
(Thanks for the tip @GoofyIsAsGoofyDoes)

And now I'm thinking
I need to find the time to listen.

So…
When did you roll though Seattle?
I was basically just a ferry ride away nearly all of last week.

I'm sorry, what?
I thought you were somewhere
on the East coast???
Martha's Vineyard or something?

I was there on the weekend
of the 14th.

Bless our hearts…

;)

Always a caveat.

Okay, so while I do like
Gilligan's Island (nostalgia, really)
even I will admit that it's pretty bad.

But Get Smart was brilliant.

Ahhh, yes Sahib…
You are generous to a fault.

Emphasis on the "fault"

Arlo Guthrie’s “Alice's Restaurant “

It’s well wort the 35 odd minute play time if you’ve never heard it.
(or just read the lyric as the tune is really secondary to the story)

Took your advice.
Now I gotta listen to it.

Those aren’t PILOWS!!!

::yes::

But where where’s the Kaboom?
There should have been an Earth-shattering Kaboom!

That creature has stolen the space modulator!

That was quite a busy last day you had! I loved Guardians. It definitely has a different vibe than ToT. We really wanted to see Paint the Night, but we went during the transition between the electrical light parade ending and the time when the brought back Paint the Night. It looks like your little martian has been busy.
Can't wait to here about your drive.

Definitely.
And... I don't mind one bit.
Maybe if I grew up on DL/TOT
I might feel differently.
But since I never rode it there,
I don't miss it.

I'm not a huge parade fan, but...
Disney sure knows how to do 'em!

It looks like your little martian has been busy.

Little guy gets around!

Can't wait to here about your drive.

Coming up!
Still catching up... everywhere.

With all this talk of tv shows you might find this guys blog/podcast interesting. His name is Ken Levine and he was a writer on M*A*S*H, Cheers, Frasier, and many other shows. He post a blog almost every day and often he will answer questions about M*A*S*H, Cheers, Frasier and the other shows he has worked on. His blog is usually pretty short and if you like to listen to podcasts he keeps those short too. I usually only listen to the ones that are about subjects that I like lol. http://kenlevine.blogspot.com

Blast from the past!:wave2: Sorry to be gone so long. Life just wore me out for awhile with moving and working on the house and just feeling generally off the rails. Hope all is well! Think about our Canadian friends often with all of the shootings. :sad2: Now where was I?

Kinda like me, recently.

Yep. I am just drowning right now. End of semester in 2 weeks. Then four months off!

So you're saying you cheated...

Oh wow, I never looked at it like that.

I'm thinking the latter
will be more important.

That is what I was afraid of, got a spare card I can use :jumping1:

I want in!

I think.

Maybe.

Oh you want in, but we are closed for business.

Asked and answered!
I posted it
here.

Oh wow, that looks amazing. I have been looking at doing a 2 week road trip next spring.

I dunno.
I've won once and lost once...

I better take my own car!

Martha's Vineyard or something?

Que Sera…

We were staying with family on the peninsula in Kingston, WA from the 13th though the 20th
I could have caught the ferry from there and meet you in Edmonds just off I-5 a bit north of the city, or caught he Bainbridge Island ferry and met up downtown.

Maybe another time.

Okay, so while I do like
Gilligan's Island (nostalgia, really)
even I will admit that it's pretty bad.

But Get Smart was brilliant.
It’s all about the writing.
They could hardly go wrong with both Mel Brooks and Buck Henry on the story lines
(so long as the big wigs stayed out of it and didn’t try to censor them, that is)

Took your advice.
Now I gotta listen to it.
One of the best protest songs devised.

I've spent much time relegated to the Group-W bench for not being acceptable to the fashionable

That creature has stolen the space modulator!
Delays, delays…

Interesting!
Thanks for the link.
Doubt I'll have time, to catch it...

But thanks for thinking of me! :goodvibes

Hang in there!

Oh wow, I never looked at it like that.

You're welcome. :snooty:

Oh you want in, but we are closed for business.

Dang it! Missed out again.

Oh wow, that looks amazing. I have been looking at doing a 2 week road trip next spring.

Where to?
It was good, but...
there were moments.

I better take my own car!

 Ok.
