I just wondered if we could get by without renting a locker?
Can we just take a small bag to put our clothes in, sunscreen, and towels.
Then use our magic bands to buy food and drinks ?
Has anyone done this or should we rent a locker?
Will our stuff be safe left on the lounge chair while we ride? We wont be bringing anything valuable.
We also wanted to know what rides should we go to first thing at opening to avoid long waits before the crowds start to increase?

I have been to Typhoon Lagoon many times. We never rented a locker and never had any problems.

However, I think it is one of those situations where you never have a problem until you do if you know what I mean. I would be perfectly comfortable leaving my stuff on a lounge chair. But, like you said, we don't ever bring anything valuable either.

Other people feel differently.

We've never rented lockers either. It's even easier now because we don't have to worry about bringing cash or credit cards or room keys.

Basically all we can lose are towels and shoes - not worth the locker rental hassle to us.

We never rent a locker. I have a KYSS bag that I absolutely love! Well worth the $50. Look them up!

We have been many times and never rented a locker. I just bring a beach bag with towels, sunscreen, etc. - nothing valuable, so we don't mind leaving it on our chair. We've never had an issue.

The family raft ride at TL is very short and not that fun, but it gets huge lines! Ride that early in the morning if it interests you. We always head right to Crush 'N' Gusher at opening. Have fun!

If you feel comfortable leaving your bag unattended, do it; I had no problems with mine. However, if you're worried about something happening to it or not being able to remember where you left it, pay for the locker for the peace of mind.

I second Crush 'n' Gusher at opening! We got in a ton of rides first thing in the morning and when the lines started to build/we got tired of climbing the steps, headed to the fantastic lazy river for some relaxation.

We live I the wisconsin dells area and have stoped renting lockers
we each have a small water proof pouch to keep phone car key annual pass and money in
we wear our suits to the park and leave a change of cloths in the car along with our towels

when we went to tl we just wore our suits I wear a fast doing tee shirt had our pouches and mb
we didn't even rent towels because we were dry before we knew it

Hmmm I never thought about my cell phone :crazy2:. We do have a cheap cell phone maybe I will bring it instead in case it gets stolen. I hate to be without a phone.

Ok thanks ! So is Crush N Gusher the most popular ride?
So when we get there do we head straight to the lounge chairs to find a spot in the shade or if we plan on renting a locker do we head there first?

Crush 'n' Gusher is definitely popular! It's the best of the tube slides; it's a water version of a roller coaster. I can't speak to the popularity of the body slides, because we didn't do those, but the other most popular attractions are Shark Reef which doesn't open until the afternoon and the wave pool which you don't wait in line for.

I never worry about my phone being stolen because I have a cheap flip phone with technology that was state of the art circa 2000. Nobody wants my phone.

I would go stake a claim on some lounge chairs first, set up your base, then head over to Crush n' Gusher. There are a lot of good spots but last time we set up under a big cabana type thing near Crush n' Gusher and we liked that spot.

I would find a trusted site for a good touring plan. For example, although Crush 'n' Gusher is really popular, I think it might be better to go on the family raft one (if you want to ride that) since that gets backed up so quickly! Truly I'm not sure of the correct order of the rides there. We mainly go for Crush 'N' Gusher and snorkeling with the sharks.

First thing to do is find a a nice, shady spot!

I always preferred the peace of mind that came with having a locker. Then again, this was when I was a cast member and going to any park on my day off meant bringing my work ID to be able to get in -- kind of needed that secured! You can probably get away with it if you use magic bands instead of bringing any IDs or currency, but I'm the type who's paranoid enough to get a locker for stuff like shoes and towels. I've had unattended jackets and other seemingly non-valuable items stolen in the past (not at Disney, thankfully), so I'm a bit paranoid.

Again if you get a small waterproof pouch to wear around your neck you keep all that small stuff like I'd and money with you

We always get a locker. We go to Dinner shows after water park days and sometimes drag clothes in case we stay too long in the park. I also have an SLR I use and am not comfortable leaving it on the chair. I have no reason to believe it would get stolen. I leave my smart phone I there too. We only take a beach bag to the lounge chairs with towels and sunscreen. Magic bands are our only form of payment.

I was at TL on my own one day in March while others went to Kennedy Space Center.

I thought about getting a locker, but wanted my cell phone nearby, plus I had an e-cigarette which was tucked into my towel to avoid tracking back to the locker.

Unfortunately after doing a lap in the lazy river the towels had been taken. Cell phone in the ziplock pencil case thrown into the bushes but e-cig missing. Not what you want when on vacation.

In future I will always get a locker, as the hassle of having things taken is a much bigger problem.

Honestly when you think what you spend on the vacation is it worth the hassle of not getting one?

Personally, I would only go without a locker if I was going to: arrive on Disney transport, not take a cell phone, not take a camera, have a magic band and no cash.

Although it's sad to say it, there are a lot of people who will steal given the opportunity, even if they are on vacation.

We never get lockers while at TL. We have a beach bag that we bring (it zips up) and when we are away from our chairs. We really don't worry too much about our belongings, plus DH and I usually tend to sit in our chairs and relax more while the kids go off and ride the slides. If we aren't in the water or in our chairs, DH and I are hanging out at the bar hut (the one right by the wave pool) which we always make sure the chairs that we get are right by so we are always keeping an eye on it.

Of course you can get by. Especially now with magic bands. However, it's been a long time, but the locker rooms at Typhoon Lagoon use to be extremely clean, cool and incredibly no smells. Normally locker rooms were places that I avoided at all cost, though the one at Typhoon Lagoon was totally different. Not having to keep up with anything, other than a key and a towel was very convenient. The answer to your question is probably no.

Rides to ride first. At rope drop, everyone normally races to put their towels down on chairs and the races to the water coaster. That's probably the best idea. However, on the other side of the park, right past Ketchakiddee Creek, there are 3 tube slides that are our favorites. Keelhaul falls, Mayday falls and Gangplank falls. For some reason, people will ride the first one they come to from Ketchakiddee creek which is Keelhaul falls, or Glangplank falls coming from the other direction. Mayday falls, the one in the middle, always has the shortest line. I rode it over and over again, many times without any line at all, while watching the other 2 having much longer lines. All three are basically the exact same ride.
