We have an ADR for Cape May prior to Epcot's opening. I know how to get to the Beachclub from the International Gateway but as we won't be able to enter the park we would need to walk from the front entrance. Is this even possible? Are there sidewalks? Thanks!

Sure. You can walk anywhere as long as there's land or a bridge from one point to another. The question is whether you want to take the time to walk in whatever weather is available at the time.

With that in mind, it's an easy walk from Boardwalk to a back gate at EPCOT, so you'll just have a few more steps.

No you cannot walk from the front entrance of Epcot to the Beachclub. You can only walk from the International Gateway inside Epcot to the Beachclub. If you don't want to walk through Epcot to get to the Beachclub you could take a Downtown Disney bus from your resort & then board the Beachclub bus from there.

I just wanted to add that if it were me & I had to get to an early ADR I would just take a cab. It's inexpensive & fast & worth it not IMHO.

You cannot walk from the front of Epcot to the Beach Club without going through the park.

If you can tell me where you are coming from and how you are getting around I can tell you the best way to get to the Beach Club.

As the PPs have said, you can walk from the front of Epcot to the Beach Club (via International Gateway) IF Epcot is already open. However, if Epcot is not yet open (as you indicated is your case), then you cannot walk through Epcot.

You could take a cab from your resort to the Beach Club. It will run between $15 and $20. Alternatively, you can catch a bus to DHS and walk to the Beach Club. It is about 1 mile. There is a boat that goes from DHS to S/D to YC/BC to BW to Epcot. It takes about 30 minutes to get from DHS to Epcot.

I agree with the poster that said to go to Hollywood Studios. There is a walking path from there to the Beach Club, or you can hop on the friendship boat. After breakfast, just stroll into Epcot WS via the international gate.
Of course, this ISA summing you are using Disney transportation. If you are driving, then just go directly to beach club and the drive to whatever park you're going to afterwards.

Thanks for all the responses and thanks, as always Robo for the great map.

We are headed from POR to the Beach Club for a 9:00 ADR.

I just want to add that last year we went from POFQ to Beach Club for an early breakfast.....we took the Hollywood Studios bus, and when we told the bus driver we were going to Beach Club, he dropped us off directly there. Awesome unexpected surprise!

Since there not only are no sidewalks, but also canals involved, the walking distance from POR ot Beach Club would actually be about the same as from the Epcot Front Gate to the Beach Club; over five miles.

Seriously, you would have to get a bus that would get you to DHS no later than 8:30 and then get a boat (which would stop at the Swolphin first) to get to the Beach Club by 9:00. It would be worth investing the $10-$15 for a taxi ride.

My friends and I had a Cape May breakfast ADR in September. I made the decision to take a cab from the Coronado, and it only cost around $10 (plus tip). Best money I spent the whole trip!!!! Those girls took soooo long to get up and get going, and we never would have made our ADR in time. The cab driver got us to Beach Club SO quickly, I couldn't believe it! Seriously-take the cab! :)

.

I must be misunderstanding this somehow because there is no way the walk from Epcot front entrance to Beach Club is over 5 miles.

Your best bet is a cab, but if you want to use disney transportation you'll need to get to the bus stop about 7:45, take the bus to DHS, and then either walk or take the boat to the Beach Club.

We did the same thing a few years ago.

Check the map - it is if you don't want to swim the canal and walk through the woods.

The 5 miles is walking outside EPCOT from front gate to Beach club. EPCOT won't be open when they need to walk through which is why they asked if there was a way to walk around the outside. Because of swamps, canals & such plus no sidewalks it would be approximately 5 miles.

To consolidate the responses so far, here are your available options:

1. Take a cab. Be sure to call downstairs before heading down in case there is not a cab waiting for you. Total additional cost is about $10-$15 and should take no more than 15 minutes curb to curb. Best option IMO as well.

2. Take resort bus to DHS and then take boat to BC. From POR to Cape May Cafe check-in counter would take about an hour (including waits, transfers, walking, etc.).

3. Take resort bus to DTD and then take bus to BC. This would take at least an hour as well. Keep in mind that the DTD bus to BC is considered one of the worst transportation legs in all of WDW for a multitude of reasons.

4. Walk around the outside of Epcot to BC. On foot, this would also take at least an hour, isn't always the easiest to identify, and might just ruin you for the rest of the day since it's WALKING for an hour rather than sitting and riding one form of transportation or another.

Since we always look for the path of least resistance where and when possible (and at WDW, these aren't always easy to identify), this one is a no-brainer. Cough up the Hamilton and take a cab! :)
