Can I upgrade a used one day ticket to an Epcot after 4 pass?

My wife's grandparents are snowbirds and spend some of the year down here in FL with us. They do have a FL ID card. They've never been to Disney and don't really know if they'd like it or not, but my wife thinks they'd really like Epcot and thought it might be good to get them an Epcot after 4 pass.

Before they spend the money on the pass I'm thinking we can just get them a 1 day ticket so they can take a day and see what Disney is all about. If they like it and think they want to come back, then I'm wondering if we can upgrade that one day ticket to the Epcot pass.

If so, does that ticket need to have been used to enter Epcot or could we do the MK on the first day?

Is if OK if we go before 4PM or would it need to have been used to enter Epcot after 4PM in order to be upgraded to an Epcot after 4 pass?

Thanks much,
Brett

The After 4 PM pass is a one day only ticket, I believe as a result you can't upgrade a used 1 day pass to add it as a second day.

See section 4 for Florida resident options in the everything about tickets sticky. The play three tickets may be a better option, supposed to cost less then a 2 day base ticket and they are good for up to 6 months from first use.

I think we're talking about two different things... there is a FL resident Epcot after 4 pass that's good for a whole year. This is what I wanted to upgrade them to.

I believe that there are also theme park after 4 passes that are made available to people attending a convention on Disney property. These are one day tickets, and as you mention, wouldn't work for an upgrade.

I did check the Tickets Sticky and while the FL resident Epcot after 4 pass is mentioned in the FL Resident section it doesn't talk about whether it's possible to upgrade a used ticket to this type of pass.

Thanks though:)

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but you can call Disney Ticketing at
(407) 566-4985 (I think you press option 2) and they should be able to answer your questions about upgrading a ticket. I recently had a question about upgrading a used ticket to an AP and called them and they were very helpful.

Yes, it can be done as long as it is within 14 days of date of use.

Thanks for the reply Cheshire. Could we upgrade a one day ticket that was used for entry to the MK to the Epcot after 4 Pass, or are we required to use the one day ticket at Epcot?

Thanks again:)

Brett

As long as you have not used it at MK on the day that you are doing the upgrade.

Normally there are few limits concerning upgrades; this would be in the same class as trying to upgrade to a Florida Resident Seasonal Pass on a blockout date after it had been used to enter a park that day. If you entered MK, DHS or AK that day and then went to do an upgrade you would effectively be making your one day ticket into a hopper which is not allowed.

However, if you used the ticket to enter MK (or another park) on Sunday and then wanted to upgrade to an Epcot After 4:00 AP there would be no problem.

Thanks for the reply Cheshire... I've got one more question for you. If we were to purchase a one day ticket with hopping and did two (non Epcot) parks on the first day. Could we still come back within 14 days and upgrade to the Epcot after 4 AP? It looks like we'll probably be going this Saturday for our first day and we were thinking that we wanted to give my wife's grandparents a taste of the other parks before they were locked into Epcot.

Actually, I think I have one more bonus follow up question. If we're doing somewhat unusual ticket upgrades like this, where is the best place to go? Is everyone trained as well as you are and it won't matter, or are the people in guest services more knowledgable than those at the ticket windows? Or maybe it's the other way around and the folks at the ticket windows are better for something like that because they do ticketing all the time. Or maybe we just need to go to TL and track down a Cheshire Figment. Or maybe I'm just overthinking things ;)

Thanks again,
Brett

As a general rule the people in Guest Relations tend to handle the more unusual transactions. The people at the water park ticket booths tend to also handle strange transactions. For example, I work two days a week. Two weeks ago I had both days at turnstiles, last week I had both days in a ticket booth, and this week my two days are in Guest Relations. At the theme parks those are three different teams and they practically do not talk to each other. Also that I've been a member of Mensa for 40 years may have something to do with it.

BTW, if they are going to buy a hopper to start, you may want to have them buy the special two day Florida Resident ticket for $99 and add hopping for $25, for a total of $124, plus tax. Since the Epcot After 4:00 is $129 that would still be a workable upgrade. The only potential problems is there is currently a blockout for these tickets which ends this Saturday night, so from Sunday on these can be purchased. These special tickets will expire on May 22 even if not all used up.

That sounds like a great plan, actually, and would give us two 'other' park days before locking them into Epcot. Unfortunately it might not work with this Saturday blocked out, but I'll talk to them and see if we can rearrange our plans a bit so that this would work.

Thanks again,

Well we went ahead and tried this and ran into some problems:( We went with the two day pass idea and took my wife's grandparents to AK and the MK last week (we never did get the park hopper option - her grandparents just weren't able to do more than one park (and only half a day at that)).

This afternoon we went to Epcot and went to guest services and asked to upgrade their tickets to the Epcot after 4 pass. The guy at guest services said that because we went to other parks with the two day tickets that he wasn't able to upgrade them to an Epcot after 4 pass. In the end, since we were already there and had to do something we just upgraded them to a 3 day play pass so we could get into the park and sort it out later.

Since the 3 day play pass is the same cost as the Epcot after 4 pass I'm hoping that we can still upgrade that to an Epcot after 4, assuming that it is a legal upgrade. Cheshire, are you sure that we can upgrade a ticket that was used at another park to the Epcot after 4 pass? If so, do you have any suggestions about where to go to get it done? If not maybe we'll just spring for a seasonal pass instead.

Thanks again:)

Brett

I just wanted to follow up on this thread in case anyone stumbles across this in the future. We went back to Epcot the other day and tried with a different CM to upgrade our (now) three day tickets to the Epcot after 4 pass and ran into the same problems. Both the CM and the manager that was called were quite adament that it is not possible to upgrade a ticket that was previously used at any park but Epcot.

At this point I'm convinced that what I had originally wanted to do is not possible.
