Can I return to Walmart without receipt?

Yes but only a couple of times a year. They type in your Driver license or something to make sure you are not a serial returner, LOL! I have done it a couple of times with stuff Dd gets for gifts and doesn't really like.

Yes - they do allow a couple of no receipt returns a year. I did that yesterday morning since I got a gift that I already owned. They gave me a gift card and I bought some much needed asprin with it. :)

I go to 2 different stores. The new Supercenter near me scans the license, the old store near me does not take an ID. I was surprised when the new Supercenter opened this summer and they asked for my ID. I did a no receipt return at the old one less than a month ago and no ID was required.

Something strange happened yesterday, I did a return w/o a receipt and made money off it totally by accident! I wasn't trying to scam them-trust me I would have loved the $ off my Visa and not a store credit. I bought a bunch of DVD's on black friday in another state, decided to return 2 of them. Brought them back yesterday w/o the recipt (it went MIA in our home office) and got back a store credit for more than I paid. When I worked for a department store if you didn't have the receipt you got back the lowest price in the last 30 days, I guess not the case at Walmart.

The thing you need to remember, though, is that you may not get back in value what your grandmother paid.

If the item is on sale (especially a deep discount right now) you will only get what the item's CURRENT sale price is, or even the lowest sale price in the last 7-10 days...not necessarily what she paid for it.

Glad I am not the only one with a return ;) We have a crock pot and pjs to return ;)

I don't want to hurt Grandma's feelings!

we're in the same boat! The problem is that I don't even know which store the gifts came from! My MIL (bless her heart!) got my 11-yo (almost 12-yo) a Barbie and Zhu Zhu pet. Granted, she had never even met my 11-yo until now. She had every good intention and we REALLY don't want to hurt her feelings by even asking where they came from! I've looked at wal-mart online but didn't see these things. How do you know where to even return them??? Didn't see them on TRU online either. Will I have to shop every store until I find where they stock it and then try to return it without the receipt???

DCLbride, your best bet is going to be to try Walmart. TRU and Target will not take them back without a receipt. You could try Kohls. They do carry some toys and never require a receipt but you will get the lowest price they have sold the item for.

I am going to try to return an Eclipse DVD today along with a game my son already has to Walmart. SIL couldn't find the receipt for the game so we are giving it a shot.

I've taken an item (the Clapper ...... Deluxe! ;)) to Target as an after-Christmas return with no receipt. Don't know if mom (mine ) even bought it there. But they took it and gave me store credit. :thumbsup2

DCLbride - take that Barbie (I'm sure they sell it) and the Zhu Zhu (I KNOW they sell those) on in to Target and let DD pick out something that she does want.

I took some stuff to Walmart today to return. 2 of the things didnt come from there, but the others did. They can scan it to see if they sell it, and if they do you can get a store credit. Ours lets you do this 3 times per year without a receipt. If you take in 1 or 10 items, it counts as one of the 3 returns.

I'll try Target and/or Wal-Mart... thanks!!

Yes, you can make returns at both Walmart and Target with out a receipt, they do however keep track of your returns, record your information and usually give you a store gift card and it's at the price then not what was actually paid for it.

While I understand the return without a receipt policy it's a bit frustrating. We were told that ours only allows 2 per year. without a receipt. When you think about the number of birthday's in our family plus Christmas, and everyday items, it means that things will not get returned due to the policy. Now 2 times per month would be better IMO.

Ours lets people return without a reciept 3 times a year. Our Target won't let us return without a receipt at all.

I've been trying to nicely request that family members attach a gift receipt to each gift given in case the item is something we already have or the kids have "grown so much" we need to exchange it. Sometimes one is attached, sometimes not. But at least I try.

I know I donated some stuff last year that didn't fit the kids because I didn't know where to return it to.

Actually, what would be better is just saving/asking for the receipt or a gift receipt.

The effort to ensure an easy return/exchange shouldn't fall completely on the merchant; the consumer needs to accept some responsibility as well.

That would be ideal, but my inlaws don't seem to understand the concept.
