I've "heard" on another DIS thread that Brazilian tour groups visit WDW in January and July.

I'm planning a January trip and will stay at ASMu.

Does anyone know if their arrival during January is at the beginning, middle, or end of month... or all three!

I have very flexible vacation time; if I can avoid 'em, so much so the better. :)

Thanks, DISers!

We encountered them during the first week of Feb last year if that helps. But honestly, they weren't nearly as annoying as the cheerleaders. Lol

From the times we've encountered the groups, it was basically the full months of Jan. & July - so we try to avoid those months completely

The tour groups aren't just at the value resorts, either. Last year, we encountered a large tour group at the Polynesian! That was the week of July 4th.

We always refer to them as Brazilian tour groups, but last year, the most annoying group I encountered was from Argentina. They kept chanting in Spanish at Blizzard Beach, "Who is here? Argentina is here!"

Besides the chanting and the blocking of traffic, I really don't mind them that much.

We have been a few time towards the end of January and the groups have been there at that time.

We try to head in the opposite direction.....quickly

We have been the last two years during the 3 & 4th weeks in January. We saw them, but always went in the opposite direction if we did. We really didn't notice them or weren't bothered by them on either trip. With that being said, we were at the parks early, had a good touring plan for the day & would head back to the room for a quick nap during afternoon (busiest part of day) with DD3 before heading to dinner & more park fun.

FWIW, Disney in January is a great time to go. Yes, some things may be closed due to reburbs, but all in all, with a good touring plan, we didn't wait in line more than 20 min on anything with the exception of Soarin.

Babka: there are plenty of threads on this very subject posted each year after January and July. Search the board and click on the threads with the highest number of posts. Their notoriety is NOT a legend. My family has first-hand experiences with them at the ASMo and on Main Street of MK where they rudely OUTCHANTED the Barbershop Quartet and the Quartet had to stop singing :mad:We will NEVER go to WDW in July again. I can't speak for January, but please find out because the Values resort experience can be ruined by their behaviours. It would pay to stay somewhere else.:sad2:

IME with them they are there throughout Jan and early Feb as well as July..I was at Universal the 3rd week of Jan this year and they were EVERYWHERE..Seriously if there weren't tour groups there, it would have been EMPTY

In 2009 we were there January 19 through 26 and the groups were there in full force. We found them so annoying, mostly because they move in such large packs. We didn't have any experiences with rudeness or misbehavior, there are just SO MANY of them and it gets difficult to avoid them.

They do get a good wave going before Fantasmic! :thumbsup2 AND they have som pretty cool chants,,,clap clap clap. :rotfl2: "Who is here?" "um we all are..." Yes the will take up a whole dang street and will NOT let you threw. They form a strong wall and you see them coming, better run for the hills.

Their Winter break is last week of June the first 3 weeks of July.

Their Summer break is the last two weeks of December and lasts thru the first two weeks of February.

We encountered them during the first week of Feb last year if that helps. But honestly, they weren't nearly as annoying as the cheerleaders. Lol

This! I will never go in February again. Inside the parks wasn't so bad, but the varsity stayed at CBR and I wanted to choke them out every time they started doing cheers in the dining area at the resort, usually next to my table.

Personally, don't try to hide from them. I ended up going in late March and found a giant tour group shoving their way through the standstill monorail line at the TTC. My chaperone was even shocked at them and wanted us all to shove them back and cause a giant international war.

There will always be that obnoxious group. You just have to be smart and go the opposite way... :rotfl:

We've been at WDW the at the end of January for the last three years and the tour groups have been there. Imagine what a group of 50 to 75 kids from your local high school with ONE tour guide (no adults) would be like. The good news is it's not that bad. The kids are generally well behaved but there is a crowd wherever they go. They don't split up. We were at TSM trying to get two FastPasses and got behind a tour guide who must have had 100 admission tickets he was putting into the Fast Pass machine - took a while! But I wouldn't stay away from WDW because of the tours.

My wife will get behind me when she see's em approaching 8 across. For the most part they are ok and will move over so you can get by and if they dont they learn the hard way

Holy cow.....I ran into one of these groups during a July trip and it was like a swarm. Group to the left, group to the right, group to the front. They were all dressed the same so it was a huge red and white cloud. Avoid it at all costs. :scared1:

We just returned from WDW and I noticed 4 Brazillian WDW cast members stationed outside of the Soarin' entrance. They were wearing green shirts with the flag of Brazil embroidered in the corner as well as a CM name badge. I didn't notice them on any previous trip. I hope they help manage the tour groups better than their own chaperones.
