At what age did your daughter want to do this? My daughter will be 7 1/2 (almost 8) at the time of our trip, but since it's a surprise I'm trying to decide if this is come thing she would want to do without asking her! She was never a die hard dress up/princess girl but I did book a CRT breakfast and I know she will enjoy that, being inside the castle, seeing Cinderella etc. I'm just wondering if it is something she will want to do once she gets there/sees it (it's our first trip) even though normally she wouldn't go for it. Any suggestions/advice on this would be great. Thanks so much!

My daughter was 6 last year when we did it - and it was the perfect age! She loved it. We are headed back this year and there are 4 girls - 11, 9, 9 and 7. They are all super excited to do it!

Do you do this before a special "meal" or does it matter? I have an early ADR at CRT so may have to schedule this after. Or what time appointment works well? Anyone ever have their son participate? I have 2 sons (ages 9 and 4) ....my 9 year old wouldn't want to do this but I'm thinking my 4 year old might! Can anyone share what their experience was with boys? Thanks!

The ages are 3-12 to do BBB. You don't have to be done up like a princess. My DD7 is going to get the colored pop star hair. We'll do photos in her Sleeping Beauty dress but then she'll be bopping around DTD in neon and leopard spots!

My older DD is 15 and was in near tears a week or two ago when she found out they changed it and have an age restriction of no older than 12. She went last year at age 14 and payed for it herself. She also went at age 12 and 10 and did the whole works when they first opened in DTD when she was 9. After the first time it was always something she would request as a gift or save money for on her own. However she was always and remains still a very princessy girl.

It really depends on the girl. My 11 year old went last year and had a ball. We're heading back for one final time this December.

I took my DNiece to BBB last summer for her 11th B'day and she LOVED it!! She had never been to WDW and she is not a big 'princess' girl, so she just wore a really cute pink shirt and shorts. She had two younger FGITs and they made it soooo much fun for her! She picked the hair piece that attached to the top of her head and poofed up high with a tiara. We followed up our BBB appt with the photo shoot (which she also loved - photopass photog was also awesome and fun) and then met my 2 DNephs(14/15) for dinner at CRT. Awesome celebration and she still talks about it.
My DGrD(8) also did BBB at 4 and 7 and enjoyed both visits - last trip she wanted to try Pirates League and really loved that too.

No, it doesn't have to be done in conjunction with a character meal or other special event; that's just a popular choice.

My DD will be 9 on our next trip, and is still determined to do it again, even though it will be her 5th time! I was kind of hoping she would think herself to old by now, but no such luck. Definitely think your DD will love it!

My daughter is 9 here.

She absolutely loved it and so did I. We did have dinner at CRT after, but BBB can easily stand on its own with some park time. I was glad we had it since TS Debby was pounding on us that day. Just as magical though was the Princess meet and greet in Town Square Theatre afterwards.

If your dd has a favorite, it might be neat to seek her out afterwards.

That's really sad that they've limited it to girls 3-12. I did it with my grandmother (83, with me doing it at 21) and she had an amazing time. I'm glad I have the memories at least. I think most 8 year olds would love the special treatment and attention so you should go for it. I personally don't think any age is too old...

Agreed 100%. DSis (11 currently and autistic) loves doing BBB, but I'm sure she'll be unable to do it again after our 2013 trip (if we go then) because of the age limit.

I understand that little kids weren't getting in because of older kids and adults booking reservations in advanced for it, but Disney really shouldn't have put the age limit. If the adult or older child made the reservation first and a child was unable to get in because of too many reservations, then the parent of the young child should have made a ressie or booked it earlier. You don't see Disney putting an age limit on CRT because some families weren't able to get in.

Anyways, it's going to be really sad seeing DSis become a princess for the last time, and I'm sure she'll probably not understand that she's too old for it.

I agree, think an 8 year old would LOVE it! We are taking my sister (who is just sneaking in -age wise, she is 12 turning 13 after our trip). I agree it really is too bad that they have limited the age that can participate. She is really looking forward - did BBB on our last trip and I think it was her fondest memory of the whole trip - she insisted we do it again. This time she is not going to a princess outfit. Doing the courtyard pkg.

Thank you. I brought it from home. I got the dress on ebay for $22. After thinking about it for a while dd decided she didn't really want to be one particular princess so we went with a formal gown in her favorite color. I got it from a fantastic seller "87sweetgirl". I also ordered from her for our 2010 trip. We didn't have BBB, but did have lunch at Akershus. I got the accessories on ebay too. I didn't buy anything at Disney that didn't come with dd's makeover (hair, nails, makeup package).
