Best way to soften "crunchy" sheets?

I have nice high thread count sheets that matches my comforter/valances, but they are so "crunchy" I can't stand to use them. They also are very wrinkled all the time. I figured buying expensive sheets would keep this from being a problem, but I've had much better luck with cheaper sheets. Is there anyway to soften these sheets so I don't hear them everytime I turn over? They are nice and cool when it's hot out, but the sound drives me crazy. Plus, the wrinkles are very annoying to look at.

What's the fiber content? If it's cotton and poly blend, or just cotton, then wash them in VERY HOT water, use fabric softener, and then dry them with a dryer sheet and do it all over again before using them. (Twice in other words).

Try vinegar instead of fabric softener. :confused3 "Try vinegar" is my answer to everything these days...I'm on a "vinegar cures everything" kick. ;)

They sound like percale sheets. It's hard to get the crunch out of them. They are made to stay crisp & crunchy. The wrinkling is odd though for percale. I had that happen with Egyptian cotton sheets. Never buying that again. A bed shouldn't look like it needs to be made up, even after you tugged on & tucked the sheets & made up the bed. :rolleyes:

I use vinegar instead of fabric softner and have for over a year. I use about 1/4 cup per load.

Yup. Vinegar in the fabric softner dispenser makes aor a SOFT load of laundry!.

I do an extra rinse with fabric softener. The 100% cotton Pottery Barn sheets on my ds' bed get really wrinkled in the dryer. PSA: Did you know the easiest way to touch up sheets with an iron is while they are on the bed already? (I only do this for company though).

At last someone else who understands-princess-n-the pea. My solution
is not for everyone but works for me. Give that set of sheets to my daughter
(nothing bothers her when she sleeps) I'm not happy with the wrinkles but
the noise really disturbs me.:rotfl2::rotfl2:
